It is listened to by people other than the ESC audience. Cha Cha Cha is the most listened to Finnish language song ever, and the genre is very different. Also kääriä was not known before ESC even in Finland. Tattoo won because of a landslide jury vote, the public's vote was overwhelmingly in Cha Cha Cha's favor 🤷

It's absolutely amazing that a person who makes Finnish-language music gets such huge popularity for his music. That has never happened before. On the contrary, it has always been thought that our language is not suitable for foreign distribution. The whole industry has now faced a new issue for us. In fact, people have traveled from all over the world to even small towns for gigs just because of Käärijä and learned the songs by heart in Finnish. Not just a Cha Cha Cha shout. Many have also started learning the language because of the artist.

      @satu7996@satu79968 ай бұрын
  • Käärijä is the first person to admit that he's no Whitney Houston. He is a rapper, storyteller and entertainer much more than he is a singer. He has a great aggressive edge to his rapping and in his other music he does a bit of voice acting as a storytelling tool, there are a lot of little comedic elements without making it cheap humor music. It's really quite an interesting way of using the voice, his capability of expressing emotion through rapping is pretty special. I think he has a lovely tone when singing but he obviously can't compete with trained singers in technique. However, his style of music does not need perfect singing but a big attitude and that's what he's great at. He went to Eurovision and made every single person happy for a moment. And that's really really special. As much as I appreciate great technique, music and especially Eurovision is much more than just that. Btw if you watch the official music video you can turn on English subtitles.

The reality is that - in terms of vocals - Loreen was not the best performer Eurovision saw this year. Alika, Blanca Paloma, Mimicat and more were all absolutely phenomenal and deserved more credit. Cha cha cha, though vocally unspectacular, was so entertaining. Every time. It brings a smile to my face no matter when I hear it. And yes, it was my favourite. However, the juries also take consideration into other aspects of the performance. 1-Vocal capacity of the artist(s) 2-Performance on stage. 3-Composition and originality of the song. 4-Overall impression of the act. @dav4811@dav481110 ай бұрын
    • @@dav4811 There is no set formula for winning Eurovision, since uniqueness and deviance from the other contestants is of decisive importance. Previous winners have differed in vocal quality, charisma, stage presence, song quality, and performance style. Käärijä's televote score and jury placement were on par with that of a eurovision winner, in fact, he would have won most years with the points he ended up with. No hate towards Loreen, but don't treat Käärijä as an impossible winner when he was only 60 points short.

    • @@casperix3741 And I would like to add, that iconic Loreen song Euphoria got less points from the juries while it won. And that was a year when there were no real contenders. Now she won by almost 170 points the jury votes the song that got second most jury points. It is like this year's songs were almost twice as worse than on her first try. What? Käärijä could have had won only by getting actually all the twelves from every country, and only then, hardly. It would have depended on so much on how much Loreen would have been getting from the televotes. So it is actually reasonable to ask: "WTF juries this year? What happened?" I do get it that it was much about the vocals and performance this year, but there are other criteria as well by which the songs should be judged. This year almost 60% of the jury members represented pop music (industry), and over 10% of the jury members represented classical music and those were the two most represented areas. Only a couple of jury members came from metal music industry, and none specialized on rapping. So actually, Käärijä broke through with Finnish rap and being the fourth after the juries. That is just amazing because I was waiting for him to get something like 40 points and quite long it seemed like he was not getting points at all. And that would have been another place for a riot: juries giving a song 0 points, and it winning the televotes with a landslide. Is the juries that do not understand music, or is it the public? 60 points behind Loreen this year, is not bad at all. Actually Käärijä's song did something Loreen could have never done. Nothing away from her victory and outstanding performance.

    @perlaserrano1791@perlaserrano179110 ай бұрын
    • One element that's missing from this explanation is gender norms. A pina colada is seen as a "girlie" drink, but metal is masculine. This is why the song transitions from metal to more tonal as he breaks out of his box.

    • @@dav4811Streams don't always compare well with performance quality though, since it mainly speaks to the repeatability and radio friendliness of a song, while many more things play into a eurovision performance (staging, charisma, choreography, camera angles, live vocals, uniqueness etc). Songs in a non-native language and without generic genres will also be at a disadvantage if you only look at streams. Käärijä's televote score and the fact his performance has been streamed more on KZhead than Loreen's speaks for him deserving the win, no hate to Loreen though.

This is so telling how limited most people are to what is singing or not. Because his technique really is amazing! A translation to this song is basicly: an introverted guy (because apparently that's a Finnish thing) who wants to come out of his shell and has trouble doing so because of all the stereotypes that is expected of man (hence the pina colada reference) It is why he is singing low and introverted at the beginning and at the end he is going for it all the way with his pink dancers.

Which is why I think people were little salty about Loreens win on top of her already winning once. This would have been Finlands second ever win and people were rooting for that too, and not just Fins. And that next year will be ABBA's anniversary of their eurovision win and now Sweden gets to host the event is little too convenient imo. The jury in every country just giving top points to sweden was also little weird especially since swedens performance wasnt really that outstanding from many other amazing vocalists in the competition. About this song, you really need to read the lyrics. They might sound silly at first but it has deeper saying in it. And after understanding the lyrics the performance makes more sense too 😆

Televoting costs money, and people were willing to pay to see him win. Meanwhile Loreen wasn't #1 in televotes in any country. I think Loreen is a megastar and Käärijä has potential to be one, and the voting system just ain't balanced correctly.

I think it spoke to a lot of people. As a heterosexual guy who likes a lot of more traditionally "feminine" things, and who spent most of my childhood being taught that boys were supposed to be a certain way, I can relate to a song about breaking out of the box. This is represented in music via a transition from the metal start of the song to the more tonal part later. Essentially moving from masculine to more feminine. And then it's just so much fun for audience participation, which is a big winner at Eurovision. Bonus points for him being a super likable person.

If you know you're going to be running and dancing around, then you need to work on your breathing technique and stamina (like Loreen and Noa did, for example). Sure, Käärijä is a rapper, but his song has a pop part in it - and again - he needs to be able to deliver it. Why else add it? For shits and giggles? As for 4.: his vocals were bad. The only other contenders for worst vocals on finale night were Mae and Luke Black. Compared to the other competitors, Käärijä's vocals were subpar, to say the least. Cha Cha Cha may not have been a joke entry, but it was for sure presented as one, which is what helped it stick out to the general public who look for short-term, one-night, entertainment on a Saturday night in May. I mean, lifting your leg up as if you're a peeing dog? Twirling your tongue around? The centipede? It was gimmick after gimmick to ensure a good televote result (which it did, I'm not denying that - it did, because of the joke-y presentation). It's clear now, post-contest, that Tattoo is the song with the bigger longevity and the more deserving winner.

  • Well you said Finland was more engaging to watch but Sweden had better vocals. That’s why Finland won the televote and Sweden won the jury. Loreen came 2nd in the televote so she still did well in that vote as well as jury so that’s why she won. Finland sent a song that not very jury friendly but still came 4th in the jury so I don’t know why people are complaining when a lot of people thought Finland wouldn’t even be top 10 with the jury. Anyways Loreen has had the most success after Eurovision out of all the acts this year by far. And it’s fair for a winner to compete again. Many winners have come back and nearly all of them lost when they returned except two: Loreen and Johnny Logan

  • For me music is much more than vocals and how perfect them are. It is that whole thing - story, lyrics, how catchy song is or powerfull... Sometimes when singing is too perfect it gets little bored to me, not all but usually. When u try to sing perfectly it tooks away something. U forget to feel the song. I don't mind little mistakes in vocals, if it tooks my eyes or if it's interesting some other ways. Boring and forgottable is very no no. Swe song was that to me, very boring and very seen before- thing. That's why i loved a lot our song. I liked Germany as well, and Moldova, Serbia, Slovenia and Norway.

  • People keep forgetting that Loreen was a second place after peoples vote. It was not like she was at the bottom. And the rules are they way they are regarding peoples votes and jury votes. If only the public decided we would have had some crazy winning songs. The public doesnt vote on only song, performance etc their votes are usually personal. Like they understand the lyrics because its close to their own language, votes on neighbouring countries and so on. So thank god we have a jury that also has a say in actual quality

  • 4:12 That is exactly why this song is such a fan favorite, especially over Swedens song. Eurovision is supposed to be a fun show, displaying all the range and artistic expression the world has to offer. While Loreen was pretty good vocally, her performance was, dare I say it... boring. Having bombass ballroom dancers suddenly do the crab dance to your chorus is hilarious. 5 years from now all I will remember of this years Eurovision is Käärjä and my native contestant Alessandra. The last top contender I remember like this was Israels Netta, who won with Toy. Crazy, zany and colorful stage displays are such a joy to watch.

  • This was a million times better than the winner if you ask me. Only thing that Loreen had over Kaarija was the vocals but she lost in all other aspects. Finland received 376 points from the public vote, the 2nd most of all time behind Ukraine last year (a lot of them were pity votes let's be real) vs Sweden that only got 243. It was indeed a jury win.

    • Uhm, Sweden was second with the televote. It was not a jury win, because if Israel's and Sweden's televote scores were swapped, Sweden would have lost by 1 point. You need to come to terms with the fact that the people also liked Tattoo a lot, and that's why Loreen was able to pull off this win. Stay mad and tasteless!

    • @@dav4811 People liked Sweden but at the same time the televote shows that it was by far from 1st the 2nd most loved act. It was not even close to Finland. I have come to terms that with the current system Sweden won. That doesn't mean it was the best song. People's opinion matters more than some random jurors. If it was close in the televote I wouldn't say that but the gap was large.

  • As a Finn, I would like to open up a little about the background of this song and why the singer became so popular (at least from my perspective). The song practically sings about how a man goes to a bar and drinks until the "icy outer shell is destroyed". We Finns are known as very friendly, but introverted people. Alcohol is a strong part of our culture and I myself would describe it as a Finnish "medicine", with which we turn ourselves into social butterflies, from wall roses to kings and queens of the dance floor. Even though Käärijä and his music doesn't meet my preferences, I completely understand why Cha Cha Cha got such huge attention and popularity both in the people and in the media. In addition to the melody, the singer's role is also important to me in music, and Käärijä's vocal side does not falter. However, from the point of view of Eurovision, Cha Cha Cha was actually the perfect choice: it is an entertaining, self-ironic and crowd-possessing entity. In addition to that, Käärijä himself is a very genuine person, who with his honesty in the media has certainly gained even more supporters. So, I agree, the wrong country won. What makes this even more unfair is that Sweden has won Eurovision before (in 2012) with Loreen as well. Hopefully the Eurovision rules will change and the audience's votes would have a clearer meaning in terms of the win, because Käärijä was the overwhelming favorite of the audience and still Loreen won. And of course, this also raises the question of whether the victory was even genuine from the judges end, but that's a story of its own...

    • The right country won, sweetie, don't get it twisted. Sweden won and you can forever stay mad, while your little green man fades into irrelevancy with his arrogant demeanor and behavior post-contest. Loreen still came second with the televote, and is outperforming Cha Cha Cha massively in terms of streams and radio exposure. She was the actual people's winner, as it turns out now. Stop acting like she came last with the public lol. Cope!

You should not disparage Käärijä as he does not disparage Loreen but says he loves her. I am at a loss as to what you mean with "arrogant demeanor", I have never seen Jere arrogant. You should give him the same deference as I and Käärijä give Loreen. It is not he who suggests she did not win. Irrelevancy? Certainly not in his native Finland. Finland is more important to him than Eurovision. Peace!
