And it’s ironic that Q retires in The World is Not Enough and the actor died before Die Another Day.
If Desmond had not died in a car accident, he would have come back for Die Another Day as well. It was a cruel joke of fate that they introduced a potential replacement in that film and then had to use that person as such that in the next one.
Seeing him with both Connery and Brosnan is just amazing

Not possible, it is the best Bond film.
And the only thing that's ever topped it in my opinion is another Aston Martin (the Vanquish, for the record)
I never did work out why a car with bulletproof windows needed a bulletproof screen that rose up behind the rear window.
You actually see it in the film, namely when he runs the guard shack and the grandma comes out with the MP40, she machine guns the front window and damages it pretty badly, and naturally as your not going to be driving out of the rear when your driving forward, or you need to back up without giving them a clear shot, it saves the rear window and prevents it from being badly damaged or broken as you do so like it was in that scene. granted your statement is an understandable one given the poor choice of words there, as it really should have been bullet resistant, not bullet proof in the script, as back then the way they did bullet proofing was basically just to put some really thick multi layered glass and then fill the car body with concrete, which under sustained fire like that probably isnt really that accurate to describe as bullet proof either. but given guy hamilton's son was the one who came up with a good portion of the gadgets, including the very unsafe and very inaccurate to use machine guns, I think its best not to really think about it too hard lol

This was the car that helped me teach my 4 year-old daughter the lesson that knowledge is power. Here's how... We were watching the scene where Bond uses the ejector seat to expel the Chinese henchman from the car. I then turned to her and said, *_"They call him James Bomb because he always has a bomb in his pocket."_* She dutifully nodded her understanding of my interpretation of how he got his name. But shortly afterwards she began to tug at my sleeve and when I answered she said, *"Daddy, They're saying BOND, not Bomb.",* and I replied, "I know. I'm so embarrassed. Boy, am I glad I didn't say that in front of a stranger. I'd feel like a complete fool." She nodded her agreement. After that she was a grammar nazi. I repeatedly would say stupid things and she would correct me. It is my belief that that one event is what flipped the switch in her brain that said, "Even though I'm little, I can learn things daddy doesn't know, and that is so cool!" Parents, never belittle your kids. Give them cause to believe they can be greater than you are, and they won't let you down.

It’s crazy to think that Bond’s OG car was a Bentley. But no wonder nobody remembers it, because the DB5 blows it out of the water with being so badass and iconic.
His original car was a Sunbeam Alpine in Doctor No. The Alpine was used in the first ever Bond chase, where 007 shakes off The Three Blind Mice in their hearse.
I never joke about my work 007! Love that line.
The last thing a transmitter needs is a magnet, transmitters used to encased in copper in those days and only the antenna transmit , as to the small one it has a very limited range like 200 feet because of the size of the battery, but since it's a James Bond film, they are permitted to bend the rules.
I need the little red button in the car for when the missus is giving me driving tips...
Don’t forget the smoke screen, oil slick and machine guns when other drivers are giving you driving tips with their middle finger.
is your wife single
@@flisko123 Think about that comment for a few moments will you?
@@guyklose8416 Smoke screen, oil slick and machine guns???? I don't really need the smoke screen or the oil slick.
@@guyklose8416 You forgot the tire-slashers that came out of the hub-caps.
"Where's the cup holder?"
Hence having to stop off for a quick one en route.
We miss you Q.
Desmond Llewelyn lived in Hastings and when he wasn't working signed on at the local dole office where I worked in the 70's. I signed him on at the desk many times, lovely man!
When Bond mentioned stopping off for a quick one en route, I'm not sure if he was alluding to a drink or a woman... 😅😂
All three
But in what order?
@@raminybhatti5740 1-drink, 2-woman, 3-piss... lol!
Both, of course..
@Yo Mamma those are the best women
Even in year 2020, with right-hand drive to boot, I would gladly, respectfully, eagerly drive his DB5 around California.
You ever get the sense Connery improvised the ejector seat line because he was just so blown away by it?
Anyone remember the Corgi Toy version of this car, made in Britain during the 1960s? I remember as a kid lusting after that for months, and finally my dad invested the $3.50 it cost (seemed so costly then to a 9 year old kid!) to get it for my birthday. Had a working ejector seat with a little passenger who went flying, the machine guns up front that sprung out when a little lever was pressed on the rocker panel of the car, and likewise the bullet-proof rear screen. What a cool toy that was, especially for a car-crazed kid who had seen the movie! Those Corgi Toys were really something, back in the day!
I had one!
Desmond was the perfect counter to Connery's sarcasm!
Desmond's character could read Connery's like a book and he wasn't very impressed.
"M's orders, you'll be using this Aston Martin DB5"......Eaaaa O.K
2:02 I can see where the inspiration for some of KITT's functions from Knight Rider came from.
DB5 would have just sliced the tires and body work and short out the computer system.
A few years ago I was lucky enough to race a DB5 around Mallory Park for a few laps as part of a track day. Exiting Gerard's my instructor mumbled something about "outside" - so naturally I quickly pulled to the outside of the bend. Turns out that what he actually said was "mind the D-Type on the outside" - in reference to the Jaguar D-Type that was overtaking 100mph faster around the outside of the bend. My first introduction to "accelerated learning".
Imagine going to the movies during this era? One would see this film and then walk into another theater and see a Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western. Or a Dean Martin film. Now, It seems like a Century ago...
Bond: “Ejector seat? You’re joking?” Q: “I never joke about my work, 007.” This little exchange brings me to tears of laughter and sadness simultaneously. RIP Gentlemen.
Desmond and Connery truly set the standard for their respective characters. They are surely missed.
so crisp and clean, man cant tell this was made in the 60s
In the novel, Bond drove the DBIII which was equipped with a reenforced steel bumper, a storage compartment for firearms, and a radio that picked up the signal from the "homer". No machine guns, smokescreen, oil spray, revolving number plates, etc.
The DB III did have taillights that could change shape. That would be useful when being followed at night.
The novel also had a glaring issue that the movie referenced and then fixed
