I don’t get y they made the earcups pleather tho surely the other ones were better everyone loved the other ones
hello steelseries arctis 5 worth 99$ ? please answer me please!
@@Josh-wh9ie to cut cost that’s why. Or they couldn’t get the material they usually use due to the vessel being stuck a few months ago. They probably went to a plan B so they could stay on schedule to release the product. I could be wrong though.
@@abdullakamal7380 I’m not an expert but these new ones are newer and same price just get these I would say
@@Josh-wh9ie thank you
Whenever this man twist the headset and i’m like “😬😬”
One time I twisted my brother headset
@@Anthony-rk5pl did the headset make it or did it break
I'm really glad about the changes they made to their newer headsets, replacing the cushions on my pro is really the only thing that's kind of a pain. I'm also hoping they make their stuff cheaper and even more headset options (they already have a ton). I'm also waiting on PS5/Xbox Series X, Switch Pro (it's happening) software patches for all their headsets. Honestly, with the pro wireless, I can't find any headset that meets that level of functionality regardless of price point. But wireless headsets still need a long way to go in terms of audio quality; I still hear cracks, pops, and a gentle white noise on my pro but not so much that it's unusable (at least for me).
I’ve been looking for a review about theses headphones. I’ve been watching your videos lately and I subscribed because I enjoy your reviews so thank you. Stinkin cozy!
Thank you for clarifying if these were good for story based games vs fps and why thats the case! Makes these headphone buying decisions much easier to make when being informed about gaming beyond just competetive shooters, which not everyone plays
For anyone wondering. I just got a set of the gel Wicked cushions (day 1 thoughts and opinion) and they are honestly a night and day difference between stock. I thought the stock were pretty good, but these are honestly amazing. They hold in a little bit more bass too. However. I do wear glasses, and putting them on, with the headset on, I noticed that they get caught on the seam between the sport material and inside lining. I would have liked to see the sport material roll into the inside of the ear cup a bit more to prevent this. Fairly minor gripe and they will be on my TV watching headset anyways so I wont be taking on and off my glasses as much as for my working set. Having glasses on and putting on the headset is perfectly fine and stinkin cozy.
I've wondered when was Steelseries was gonna release a new headset. This is gonna be a great watch! I've noticed you've been doing different camera angles in your videos and I like it a lot!
Thank I so much. Trying a few new things with my cameras. Still a lot to learn
@@TheTechne no worries, further down the road you'll be able to master it
Been waiting for this can already tell it’s gonna b a gd one keep up the content my man
@The Techne I think it is very remarkable they managed to put all this in a 108e headset but I think I’ll add a bit more money and get arctis pro + gameDAC for 190e, great review you covered pretty much everything, the editing and sound were great as usual.
Thanks for the in depth review I bought mine yesterday! The mic kinda sucks at pcs but as for consoles it works pretty nice, well louder but it still delivers that signature clear voice:))
YES WHEN I NEEDED IT MOST been waiting this for dayyyys
Was waiting for this review form you thx!
Been waitin on this review 🔥🔥🔥
This is very informative as I was about to choose which headset should I get for my graduation gift. Thanks Techne! I always watch your vids especially when it comes to headsets. Keep up the good work mate! 😀
I think it's funny how I found your channel back when you made a Steelseries Arctis 5 headset review and now I'm here.

As always amazing review.. so the PROs are on sale now for $170.. for PS5 specific would you go with the PROs or Prime?
This man has def come into his own with this channel. Been watching for a long time now and he’s grown a lot in the last year.
Great review. I was wondering if you ever reached out to Steelseries support regarding the issue you had with the mic on these? Seems like a pretty important aspect. Steelseries has not had the best QC in my experience so I would suspect that this was a defect.
Bro your channel really grow fast! that's say a lot about the awesome content you create. Congrats.
thank you so much
From all the dozens of headsets I've tested my favourites are still the updated cloud alpha with a rubber cable with no inline control. Incredibly natural and rich sound with great imaging and good soundstage. And they're built like a tank too.
I can't find a version without the in-line control. Any more infos please?
@@BlackDoomax the rubber cable is mine. I just changed it. I hate the inline controls.
@@KraljHD Ok :) Still satisfied?
@@BlackDoomax Yeah, although I don't main them anymore. I use the Barracuda x from razer now.
@@KraljHD and you find these better?
I have just purchased the Arctis Prime headset and received it yesterday. Based on my first 4 hours using them, I would have to agree with everything you said. I first plugged it into my laptop and honestly, I was disappointed at first, how tinny YT videos sounded, with no depth to voice or music - so I will purchase an amp dac for better control over EQ. However, I then played TLOU2 on PS4 and it was completely different - they sound great, the bass is subtle, short, and crisp but the other sounds are extremely crisp and directional, with higher frequencies being more obvious and pronounced. I've had the same issue with the mic...it truly is awful and I too thought mine was either a dud or just broken, but I'm not a talkative gamer and more of a solo player, so I personally don't really have a need for a high-quality mic. But I would avoid them completely if you're always in live chat with friends/streaming unless you use a separate mic. They are the most comfortable headset I've ever worn and for the reason alone make them worth it (I have a weird-shaped head and wear glasses) - the pleather pads do get a little sweaty but haven't really impacted their comfort in any way for me personally. This headset will divide opinion as more reviews come out. Personally, I like them a lot but SteelSeries really need to improve the mic and personally a little more depth to bass/low frequencies would be a little better. I rate them 7.5/10. Hope this helps anyone considering them.
Spot on
Hi, I'm considering to buy this but mostly I'll use it for listening to songs on KZhead, is it really disappointing listening KZhead videos with this?
@@j_pbp i would go for hyperx for music, i dont play a lot with that but at least that is what i heard
Iv been waiting for this one
Yay I can't wait to get myself one. I love my old steel series!
YESSSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REVIEW FOR A WHILE
Awesome review!! Thank you .... do you recommend me paying extra for the artics 7p ?
Can’t wait to listen to this I been buying and returning headsets for almost three months now and today this one depending on this review might be next!
If this headset has the same build quality as the 350$ headset... the Arctis Pro Wireless are HIGHLY overpriced.
think the pro might have the metal parts which this doesnt?
When it comes to wireless you’re gonna pay a huge premium. Just going wireless can add 80+ to the value. Even if the build is the same the wireless has the cool battery system, wireless support on consoles, all the preset modes, surround support on console, and even if they are using the same drivers, the drivers may be tuned differently on the wireless, plus since the wireless version is powered, you are getting an amplified version of those drivers which will probably sound better if you just plugging the wired one onto a game controller. Sorry for long explanation lol.
isnt it like the arctis 3 just wireless? if so thats so damn overpriced
@@viktr2071 Nah I went from the Arctis 3 to the Pro Wireless and the Wireless while still being overpriced is not just a wireless version of the 3. The battery system is also something that no other wireless headset does which I really like, and the sound is way better. Not saying that they're necessarily good value for the money, but I personally really like them
Agreed. This complete Arctis lineup is overpriced as hell
Always love seeing a new wired headset come out, SteelSeries has been doing a solid job recently. I enjoy my Arctis 7, only complaints are the proprietary 8 pole to 3.5mm cable, and my pair has developed horrible creaking on both sides when I move my head.
Hey there, I wanted to drop a question for you, at the same price of 150€ which would you get, the Logitech G Pro X wireless or the HyperX Cloud 2 wireless? Would you spend 30€ more on the Arctis 9? Mostly gaming (fps and rpg) and movies.
Best review of a gaming headset yet! Great work
Great review! I’ve tried every steel series mic I think they’re so uncomfortable hopefully these are different . Love this channel man
I thought the Arctis 3 couldn't get loud enough and haven't used them since I bought the HyperX Cloud II a couple years ago. I think the Steelseries headsets are really comfortable too and the retractable microphone is convenient. It's really unfortunate because I loved my old Steelseries Siberia V2 too but I'm staying with HyperX now
Nice review techne I always enjoy ur reviews!
I am really torn between the cloud 2 wireless and the g pro x wireless, I already have cloud 2 wired and alpha S and they're amazing but I am tired of wires and wanna go wireless this time " especially with cats in the house ", I know the quality of the cloud 2 but I haven't tried Logitech so I wanna know if the g pro x is better than hyperX, and to be honest I wanna try a new company so do you see that the g pro x worth the purchase or just buy the cloud 2 wireless?
I was waiting for this, finally
Techne can we get an in depth look at those Gel WC"s? I just purchased some based on your recommendation but Id like to see them on other headphones too.
excellent video, do you think that using the equalizer of the ps5 these arctis prime sound better than the sony pulse 3d?
Did you have the tinny voice problem with the Arctis Pro? just curious if its an Arctis problem or only this model in general, Looking to buy the Pro+DAC combo soon
Did you have any setting for example, for a HS50 Pro of corsair for FPS games? an EQ settings? could be really usefull man, Thanks for your content btw! support from colombia dude! :D
I ordered it, i play LOTS of apex legends and cs:go, and i needed something better then some random thing i had in my house, dont regret it, the sound quality is insane, they are very comfortable, tho the ears can get quite hot, but try it for yourself, didnt have problems with the mic, it sounded perfect in everything, but i had a problem with the sound on my right headphone that was randomly fixed by plugging the cabe in and out a bit, but overall, great experience, totally recommend it (for apex legends and cs:go).
thank you
I called it! I knew it was going to come so quick!!
Hi, are these an upgrade over the Cloud Alphas? I game on console only... Or do the Cloud Alphas still have the edge in your opinion?
finally a review about this headphones
In my search for a new headset I came across your videos. Thank you for all the effort! After watching some videos i wondered if you could tell me how the sound profile of the Arctis Prime stacks up against the Arctis 3? Are they basicly the same?
Id like to know this too
@@ernestolopez4845 I’ve bought them both. I found the Prime to be a bit flat compared to the Arctis 3. The Arctis on the other hand lacks a bit of bass. I’ve returned the Prime because I like the brighter sound of the Arctis 3.
I went with the arctis 3 also... Didn't give the prime a try. Just liked the look of the 3s better. I got the white ones which are playstation colors but for my Xbox one s. (Xbox series x currently sold out everywhere 😑)
Excellent Reviews: First person gamer - Arctis Prime, Arctis 3 or TB Recon 500? What are you thoughts?
Whats up bro I'm choosing between Hyperx Cloud 2 and Razer Blackshark V2 X which one is better? Thanks
@The Techne if I use the mic a lot are arctis pro + gameDAC still a good option, if not which one do you reccomend?
Stinkin awesome review! I knew you were gonna cover these once I saw they were released. What’s the clamping force on these? I imagine it’s like the rest of the steelseries headsets.
You're the reason why I bought my Arctis 5! The people saying that the hinges broke are on Reddit, and there are sooo many people who got their headset broken that way. Which is why I cringed when you bend it like that! I'm 6 months in though. The amount of Arctis headsets that break are too many and I suggest looking there first so you know how to take care of it
Might be the first sponsor I'm actually interested in. Cooling gel cushions? How did I not think of that sounds perfect for me. I HATE trapped hot heat around the ears when gaming when headphones
I’ve bad the logitech pro x headset for about a year think i should get these?
Just bought the Razer Blackshark Pro, thanks to your recommendations - upgrading from my old Plantronics RIG 800HX. I just subbed recently too. Love the energy, all the way from Australia :D Tiny PS : It's Arctis, not Artics
HyperX Cloud 2 or do I wait for these to be available in my area.
I'm really curious, is this headset compatible with all consoles wirelessly or do I have to use the 3.5 cable?
How much time does it takes till the leather starts getting off? R they cheap quality?
Damm brother I’ve watched many a tech channel but this one is the one the information is so clear keep up the great work I’m trying to find a really good headset and these videos help a lot
Have you reviewed the LucidSound LS15's yet? Wireless, mic monitoring/sidetone, chat mix (for xbox), noise canceling mic and 50 mm drivers. Also, great bass and 3 preset eq modes. I'm told they're cozy, but idk if they're STINKIN cozy - I needs you to review them to find out ;). Alot of features packed in sub $100 retail, on sale for $85 at Amazon right now.
I'm choosing between this one and the EPOS HS3. Which one is objectively better?
which one do you like better strictly for FPS Razer Black Shark V2 or Arctis Prime?
Can you compare them to the Razer Blackshark v2 Please? considering buying either one of them and just want the better one of the two
I ordered 1st "Arctis Prime" in January, microphone was mute and sound quality was like jogurt cups. I RMA it and I got next "Arctis Prime" headset on next month, microphone still very silent but sound quality little better. I send those back and change the product to "HyperX Cloud Alpha" headset, I got today and works perfectly! Best SteelSeries headset was "Siberian V2" but it got broken after years, but these new SteelSeries products are poor.
Great content.can you review the best wireless earbut.for next content.
Let's go.... Good morning Techne. This is going to be a great one.... yeah that mic is horrible.
Great review 👍. Which sound better these or the turtle beach elite atlas?
Diff sound, atlas has a little more bass, these are really natural sounding
Another great review, you earned my sub
thank you so much!
Hey, just bought the Arctis Prime after seeing your review. Totally agree with everything but I'd like to point out a possible reason you were having troubles with the mic. The headset has a Mute Mic button on the back left ear that doesn't actually fully mute the mic but instead turns the volume down incredibly far. I turned it off and it was perfect.
I actually sent my pair back to them and they labeled it a dud.
@@TheTechne ah, okay
Are you enjoying them? Im betwee the Prime or the Xbox Wireless for my Xbox series X
Was waiting for this one 😄
I am looking to upgrade my arctis 3 to the arctis prime, is the build quality better than the arctis pro because I read that arctis pro break easy. I have steelseries gamedac with arctis 3
"Gel wicked cushions are the only kind on the market" Turtle beach headsets: Am I a joke to you?
With in and out gel ;)
Brainwavs also makes replacement earpads with cooling gel.
razer has had gel cooled ear pads for years now
My Razer Nari has it as well, and I don't know why all manufecturers haven't done it yet, it's always cool
Yes, Turtle Beach is a joke to us all 😏
Techne, do you know if steelseries is going to release an updated version of the apex pro tkl? Love your videos!
No idea, but that would be cool
Will the wicked cushions fit on the Recon 500 that you reviewed last week?
have had this headset for only maybe 3 months and I move a lot. My headset looks great and sounds ok until I raise the volume. now I get a lot of crackles and I dont know what could help. Even my astro headset A20's never did this and I've always used to travel with them a lot. Nothing was on top of the head set and the cable is fine.
Please do a direct comparison to the nova 1. And which would be better for competitive fps
Do they have for corsair virtuoso ? I really need ones so bad because the headphones are great but super uncomfortable.
hey mr techne, how you doin on this fine day, love th vid, what headset would you recommend for 60 bucks or under, (not counting tax)
Get the Razer Blackshark X, it's on sale for $48 on Amazon right now down from $60. The better version is on sale for $90 as well and they are even better. But the regular Blackshark is probably the best you're gonna find for that price. I haven't bought a headset less than $150 so I haven't tried any other cheap headsets but I tried those at my boys and they sound great and mic sounds really good too.
Hey, how much does the Wicked cushions affect the sound? And what affects more? The treble, mids, lows?
not much
do you think the mic is just a one off? I ordered some earlier and I'm worried about the mic as my voice is quiet
i’m thinking of buying lmk how the mic is
just curios when you removed the back cover, does it have a mesh backing or is it a solid plastic? I wasn't able to see it clearly. I'm thinking if this can be turned into an open back headset.
Solid plastic
@@TheTechne So quick question I recently order the turtle beach 700 gen2 but the product sucks I can’t even download the firmware properly and I was wondering for sound quality since I play cod warzone would you recommend the steel series 9 wireless for gaming or any others? But like i said currently my turtle beach literally don’t work.
20.01.2022 - I bought this 120€ headset and microphone is silent. Doesn't help by switching mute-button or de-attach/attach cables. Going to RMA this my product. Also, sound quality is not pleasant, maybe because it have frequency response 10 - 40K Hz (most headset have 20 Hz - 20 kHz). Sound like you have some kind plastic cups on your ears. You definitely need some kind audio-filter-program for that or very good sound card. 2/5
Hey Which 1 is good Prime vs Arctis 3 for ps4 ?
Does the volume on ps4 is loud same as when you are playing on your pc? Because whenever i plug my headset into my controller which is the razer blackshark the volume is too low for me
How to charge the headset? What kind of cable? Where to plug in for changing?
I wish it was wireless. Are the arctics 1 still worth it? Arctics 1 vs these prime, which ones would be better?
Let's gooo new review!
For the Xbox SX, would you pick the Arctis Prime, or the Xbox Wireless headset? Thanks and regardings from Portugal✌
This one. I have both of those and this one is so much better. Comfort is superior and sound quality is too. Especially if you play a lot of FPS.
Purchased the headset but thinking of returning. I use this headset on my series x but my squad complains my mic volume is super low. I can’t seem to figure out what is wrong.
This headphones are almost the same as the Atro a40 TR and just like the Atros, sound will mostly depend on what tour running them, a controller will give you smooth and clear sound but the intensity will be a bit lacking without a proper Mix Amp.
Hey Techne. What are your thoughts on the Arctis Pro line of headsets. I've heard that the build quality isn't that great
man I used my arctis pro wireless for 2 years, and they were solid. I take care of my stuff.
@@TheTechne Thanks for the insight. I was also wondering if there were any issues with keycaps getting stuck on the apex pro/tkl because I saw it on sale and was planning to grab one.

Hey Techne. I use my pro wireless for my ps5. I got the series x a few days ago. Would you recommend this headset? Or which one would give me the best experience for the series X?
I have been using the Xbox wireless headset on my X, also have been loving the virtuoso XT on ps5, and using them via 3.5 on the X. Great both ways
@@TheTechne I’ll re watch your videos for those headsets to see which one sound good. Thank you Techne!!
Hey Techne, will you be reviewing the new Roccat Syn Pro Air? Think they will be releasing in a couple weeks.
Yes
looks good but i tried arctis 7 wireless and the earcup isnt big enough, and it became on ear headset :(
After how terribly my Steelseries Arctis Pro's fell apart(literal normal computer wear had the plastic where the headband connects to the earcup crumbling into dust in less than a year) I'll never buy another steelseries product again. They make absolute junk. I bought another pair of HyperX cloud II's instead to replace those hunks of junk.
which steel series has the best noise cancellation
I always love your reviews for how informative and practical you are with your comparisons. You pinpoint with such accuracy the defining features of the products you test and where you rank them for a special classification for its said niche. With that said, when you said this is the best FPS headset at $100, I was wondering, what IS the best FPS headset without a price restraint ?
