Surely, if you really want a KDE Plasma minimal install, you should install the "plasma-desktop" package instead of the "kde-plasma-desktop" package, using the terminal on a new bookworm net install (with no desktops added). That method avoids installing unwanted KDE apps like Konqueror. However, you may also have to install "plasma-nm", "sddm" and "dolphin" as well. Works well for me.
I'll check it out.
Wish this would work in Solus as well as debian, installs packages fine but won't boot into kde wayland or X11.
But at least you're suggestion works great in debian, did install systemsettings and discover also
I love you so much for this info 😭🙏🏽 I was so confused cant believe spent 4 hours because my sht was messed up and I found you here
bro can you give me a server like yours?
Every Linux Distro I try is still awful, and I've tried hundreds by now over the last 30 years... If it was better, I would have switched long ago. I keep trying. You would be surprised at how many of them over the years couldn't of even gotten through the installation process to a desktop on bare metal. Even today just about all of them fail to install under HyperV. If it can't run under HyperV, I'm unlikely to try now on bare metal.
I wouldn't recommend switching to something you so strongly dislike. My Linux experience has been quite different over the years. I have only run into a couple of moderately painful hardware issues. As for HyperV, I have performed Linux installs on HyperV guests and didn't have problems during the installation. That said, I do not prefer HyperV. I have had to deal with HyperV Server professionally and it had issues running Windows at times :) . To be fair to HyperV, we inherited the environment and did not architect it out ourselves.
Most minimum.... Why not just say minimum install?
A little pedantic of you, wouldn't you agree?
@@NightRitual here come a riding jockey on a horse... If you like it in triplets. I preferer 1 word that describes it 100%. But if you like 2 word to describe it's still just 100%.
Gnome is more modular than KDE 🤣
Probably very specific to this case and not necessarily overall. More specifically, the example of kde-plasma-desktop being removed as a result of removing konsole. To be fair, installing GNOME on FreeBSD includes a set of default apps. Most of them can be removed, but if Cheese is removed, it breaks GNOME. At least last time I tried, I had that issue. I was just messing around and doing some testing so I did not dig into and try to fix it, so there may be a way around that.
@@x80nix Also it maybe based on the fact that your video was based on Debian and not Arch because you can remove konsole on Arch Linux with no consequence at all.
Fuck Gnome, they are too corporate
