  • As a Wincobank lad thru n thru, only the people who lived alongside this legend will know! I'd give 25% of my working salary to this man who tought us all so much life respect. When we finally got a little road named after him opposite his own house it brought tears to the true Wincobank that knew!! God bless ya Fatha and hope ur still enjoying them early morning Meadowhall coffees up there 😘

  • Grew up a stones throw from Brendans gym, did karate in there before turning to boxing. He was a true gentleman and loved his adopted home of Wincobank. He built a 5 aside football pitch at side of the gym with flood lights, he didn't charge a penny from us when we played on it daily. He use to catch us hanging about and offer us £5 to cut the local churches grass, he had his boxers litter picking in area and going to old people's home up from gym to ask if they needed owt from shop. Honestly 25% wasn't enough for what he gave back to the community and his fighters.

  • He spent his whole life basically doing this for free, he only earned money because the lads he taught for free made it and they made it basically because of him, deserved every penny

  • 25% is the deal so there it is. What’s the problem? Without this mans knowledge and dedication there isn’t the opportunity to reach the top. Put it bluntly 100% of fuck all Is fuck all and without this man they wouldn’t be where they are. At the end of the day it’s only money simple as that but you can’t buy knowledge and experience.

  • Really interesting - all the ingle fighters have that style to different extents, I.e. naz applied it very differently to the likes of witter, nelson and brook. Brendan done a great job with implementing it.

  • people see 25% of money deal if they r good enough to hit pro level. but they don't get any idea even mistakely how he investet 25% of his life span to rise, nurture and walk those boys through a posible harsh lifetime as kid to end of line and teach them how to live a life that is a dream for billions! man you can seem or heard rational in a debate, but you can't deny this man!

  • 25% is steep enough but I take his point about all the ground work he puts into the fighter but for that I'd want him doing my shopping, cooking, washing, which maybe he did as well.

    • not alot if he was working for free for 15 years. Then multiply that with all the failures who didn't have to pay, but was sparring partners for the future pro. If the young boy/parent didn't like it, they shouldn't had agreed. They could had left anytime prior. So basically, they were playing the trainer prior and scamming the trainer after they turned pro.

    • @@emilegriffith1473 that's a good point. trainer and manager. however, it would be difficult for any person to go from being a kid of say 10, training until 22 /23 and then making big money to not feel they want to change or maybe pay less to someone. especially if the fight purse is worth say £100k.

  • I think 25% is too much. The boxers are the ones risking their lives in the ring. That's like my college teacher wanting a percentage of my part time job wages

    @zola_moments@zola_moments5 жыл бұрын
    • Your college teacher receives a salary though. Brendan was working for free. Maybe 1 out of every 100 boxers that entered the gym paid him anything.
