Physicist Richard Feynman thinks aloud about atoms and how they jiggle, and how we perceive that jiggling as 'hot' and 'cold'. From the BBC TV series 'Fun to Imagine'(1983). You can now watch higher quality versions of some of these episodes at www.bbc.co.uk/archive/feynman/
I can listen to this guy all day long
I remember going to the Science Museum as a kid and they had a curved track which sloped downhill slightly and you could try out all these different sets of wheels to see which would stay on and which wouldn't. I figured out which ones were best at staying on just fine, but never figured out why. It all finally makes sense!
So simple, yet so amazing and explained so well.
Mind fricking blown. I never even gave trains a second thought. Except for the generic " are you F-ing kidding me, how long is this damn train. Should I jump the curb? "
Wow, never thought of that
The flange on the wheel is also a part of guiding the wheel through switches and their gaps, and picking up the tapered rail when the switch is thrown.
Hah dang I've been thinking about this for awhile, such a coincidence that I found this is exactly the kind of answer I could get :) Feynman thinks of everything! Great physicist!
I am amazed that I never thought that way! !
Well there you go. You learn something new everyday.
I have never thought of that....
Blew my mind....
THANKS A LOT !!! I LOVE IT !

I don't want to ride trains anymore lol
Jesus Christ, thank God there are so many people in this world / in history who are smarter than me.
OK, that makes sense if the train is banking on the right..but what about if it banks to the left ?? Where's the friggin' video tape.?? lol :o) ( I'm sure the wheels must be "angled" equally on both sides?
Did anyone else have no idea what he was talking about?
I have to admit that I never thought about it in my entire life. ;-)
