Music video by The Verve performing She's A Superstar.
The jewel in this song is Nick McCabe's guitar play. Miraculously, it's simultaneously both otherworldly and grounding.
I saw them live every time they came to NYC from their ASIH TOUR and as much as i love Richard i can tell you when they toured with Simon Tong along with a pedal steel guitar player on stage with them as good as the show was there was ab obvious and very necessary ingredient missing: the remarkable true genius of one Nick McCabe....
I am in love with it. I can't describe my emotions by hearing it
@@LiviaJapan Shoegazing.
Well said ! 👌💥✨💯
Nicky was very influenced by The Edge. We all were! He redefined guitar with what could be done with effects and we all loved him for it - suddenly you didnt have to be Jimmy Page to sound like nothing on Earth. Nicky would be the first to admit it too.
Will this happen again someday ? So pure, so fresh. A band with purpose.
+spoukas I would but I'm missing a key element
The verve top band
Yes and it will be a band called spring influenced by what made the verve great
never again. that era of singers and guitarists is well and truly over.
Nick Mccabe is on another level. It's not all about 5 minute guitar solos. The guy can get a sound out of a guitar that nobody else can
you clearly haven’t listened to much music yet
@@merdefilms3837 Sounds like he isn't a John Squire fan?
Sounds like you don’t know much about how Nick gets his signature sound nor ever heard it on s proper stereo system.
man I love the early Verve sound
'Mover' (the 93 version). They themselves asked in 07 what old verve tune they never released should they rework and record? i actually requested 'Mover' and it snowballed from there. Si Jones agreed with me. They did it. Honestly '93 is so much better. the '07/08 'thaw' version of it is 'too RA' , not enough NM. -U10
@@Ultegra10SPD Have you heard the Northern Soul outtake over Mover? It's pretty awesome kzhead.info/sun/arWyf8aagIenYHk/bejne.html
@@Ultegra10SPD To be fair there weren't many options since they'd released most of the stuff which the fans were aware of. Aside from the pre-Nick demos from 1996, but they were probably out of the question anyway since they were with Simon Tong too and he wasn't invited back for the reunion. The only tracks the fans could have requested are Mover, Staring Stranger (which is an early version of Mover), Black & Blue and South Pacific.
Imagine seeing them and Oasis together!?!?
@@jonmcclane7433 they hung out and jam in the studio
I literally just discovered this album by the Verve and it's insanely good.
The Verve music is so raw and emotional... Why so underrated ?
Urban hymns went gold in 17 countries and sold million copies in 2 years in the UK more well respected than underrated
I keep trying to tell my psychedelic jamband friends that The Verve has some of the best psychedelic music ever recorded. Pure greatness. I can't think of any other band whose records are so perfectly produced. They are pure perfection as far as music and records go, imo.
What a beautiful piece. I'm digging into early The Verve and absolutely floored by the greatness. Why isn't this band talked more about? It's an absolute gold mine of the 90's music.
their early music is a hidden gem. Let's keep it that way!
They were called Verve back then, but a Jazz band had already used that name so they had to add “The”
@@icouchno buddy, the world should know so that it keeps the kids smart.
Yes boy m from india even just recently I discovered this band so dreamy and lost this songs are ❤
Richard Ashcroft must be one of the must underated musicians of history
+Plenty O'Tool , I agree bro!
+Plenty O'Tool *most
I know what you're saying, but he's been rated number 1 by me for many years
What about the rest of the band?! Ashcroft isn't so hot without Verve.
Are you kidding ? Ashcroft is a genius with or without the rest of the band. Although Pete Salisbury has played drums on a lot of Ashcrofts solo stuff
The original, unedited version of this single (almost 9 minutes in running time) features Nick McCabe's greatest guitar performance. One of my Desert Island songs. This was recorded inside the swimming pool at The Manor Studio in Oxfordshire which is why the guitar and drums sound so EPIC!
Do you have that version?
khan bahadur Abdullah You can buy the MP3 here www.amazon.co.uk/Shes-A-Superstar-2016-Remastered/dp/B01IV27QAK/ref=sr_1_cc_7?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1519061928&sr=1-7-catcorr&keywords=verve+storm+in+heaven+deluxe It’s on Spotify and Apple Music too. Look for “She’s a Superstar (2016 Remaster)”
Zanzibar Breeze thanks
Thank you for this info! Remarkable!
I have that cd single, the full version blows my head off. The “b” side is the song “Feel”. Those two songs show the band at any early peak - one of many in their discography. Great, great band.
I adore Nick McCabe's virtual landscapes made by his psychedelic guitar. I love Richard's voice so catchy and dreamy. This alchemy was my favourite one when i was 18, i was living the best age of my life and they were the ideal background for my post-adolescent dreams. I will always be thankful to them.
I read your comment on the Verve, Superstar, well put!!!!!
Love the 90's pop, The Brits got it !
Great thought and I agree. As a Yank I discovered them later than a lot of folks in The UK, but I have a lot of great memories of them in the late 90’s.
Truly otherworldly
I hope you’re still dreaming, sis. Never too old for dreaming.
Cant believe this is over 30 years old already. Epic, timeless piece
A gem ... missing all this.
This song is EPIC. Is there anyone else out there currently that sounds like the Verve?
Check out this new British band called Pastel. Listen to their single Deeper Than Holy. You won’t be disappointed 😎
Check out:. The War on Drugs!! You like.,. 👌😏
This will always be my favorite Verve song It is flawless. Sublime I feel weightless when I listen to it
Oh wow this is a song I am obsessed with. I turn it on first thing in the morning & have my coffee & cigs while my dog sings along loud. It's our morning ritual! ☺👍✌
man The Verve may be the best BritBand in two decades. fantastic music.
The verve are awesome, but not quite Oasis.. obviously much bigger!
Rick Helm ...and more mainstream.
Oasis? The Verve was more inventive, exciting and last but not least pretty original. They weren't desperately seeking for publicity. And their discography is pretty much consistently great all along.
Best pair of lips in rock & roll.
One of The Verve's best songs to fade off into obscurity....Heaven sent..
A tune that never gets old, so miss these lads..
per bonde thses are out of your age band man , stick with bands in your age
I didn't realise music was age restricted. I guess in that case Bieber is that way →→→

Original version is 9 minutes pure trip.
+Nick Valensi Is that from Voyager 1?
+ralyman2 No, from single CD.
+Nick Valensi That must be a relic... would love getting my hands over it!
got this on vinyl, pure bliss
if you don't yet have the full 9-minute version of this, get the reissue of "A Storm in Heaven" - disc 2 has the early singles and B-sides on it, including this gem.
Was a good time for music back then. So glad I got to experience this in person.
Same :")
Here she comes, seven suns A burning flame She got my love Got my head But it's all the same She climbed so high I don't know why High On her own And I know She's in the air And I don't want it to go I can feel her love But I don't want it to go She got my woe Got my hand Took the dreams Right outta my head She bought the world I paid the bills I took those pills It was wind in her sails She climbed so high I don't know why High On her own And I know She's in the air And I don't want it to go I can feel her love But I don't want it to go
Thanks by the lyrics man
this song is everything
Absolutely amazing song. It's so beautifully perfect. There seem to be so many layers in this song, and when one gets louder the others are still audible... and it's almost impossible to explain this song as a whole. Richard Ashcroft's voice is so wonderfully lucid but simultaneously calming. There is nothing better than falling asleep under the stars listening to this song.
What kind of bittersweet symphony is this?
It's a sonnet, actually!
More like an Appalachian spring.
A better one.
This is Music.
It’a a gravity grave.
nick mccabe has God like powers on the guitar.mind blowingly incredible.
YES!
+david ramirez :)
Totally agree with you pal👍👍👍
Manchester Academy 96 McCabe owned the room
One of the best songs of 'A storm in heaven' era! A huge respect for music like this. It is worth it.
Proud owner of an original copy (in all its blueness) of Voyager 1. -U10
I want some of what the dude in the crowd at 4:30 has had. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever. The live version at Camden town hall takes me off to another universe, its freakin' glorious!!
Well, I guess he's just imitating Richard's movements. If he's had something, he certainly feels at his ease. The Verve is a fine band, and this song is real Psychedelic. I get so carried away somehow ...
Nick McCabe is the true talent here.
He's A Superstar
I've owned the album since 1994 and never realised there was a 3CD Collectors' Edition with this and other unreleased tracks on it before! Thank you! The search begins!
All of their first 3 albums have been reissued with all b-sides and unreleased tracks. Although Urban Hymns had 11 unreleased tracks which Richard refused to allow to be included in the set. You can listen to them hereL kzhead.info/sun/ecxwlpR8eWJoY6c/bejne.html Also check out Blue Pacific Ocean, an unreleased track from the recording sessions of Forth. Sounds like a track they could have wrote in 1993 kzhead.info/sun/prmmhKeAo2Z7eqc/bejne.html
There are some unreleased on those bonus CDs but this track and several were on The Verve EP which came out just before Storm in Heaven as a nice little appetizer
I had the album A Storm In Heaven. Best album they did on tape in the mid 90s driving around Florida and i've had a copy in every car since. Top band.
most underrated guitarist
This song reminds me of Ride, another great band.
Ladies and Gentlemen this is real fucking music!
Definitely one of my favorite songs by Verve. It truly highlights Nick McCabe's ability to create amazing guitar 'landscapes'. Gotta love shoegaze.
This brings back old memories
You know it's a good song when you feel down af but the song lifts you up in vibration.
One of the greatest bands and songs in the world. People from coming generations are going to talk about this and we are proud that we could listen to it
You know it, my friend!
listening to the verve is like a never ending trip.. without the downs :) some real true music back there!
Truly an epic sound with Nick McCabe, Ashcroft’s vocals, and the rest of the band is spot on.
I love the Verve, this song, and Richard's lips!!!!
I wish these guys were still making music
Where are they all now?
Amongst some of my greatest, most valued memories from being young and feeling like life could be anything i wanted it to be....
Best band of the 90s.
what a trip
This is what I think when I listen this song: Welcome to Paradise!
Yes 😊
Coincidently, I've seen some people call the album A Storm In Paradise for the same reason, almost every song you listen from this album makes you feel you are traveling to a paradise.
@@LuisJ967 I do agree with you
bittersweet symphony It was only their most popular song but without a doubt, they were always incredible
My god he is beautiful in this video! 💚
Richard was absolutely stunning and now sexy in his older age!
1993 The best year of music I love this song. I love the verbe!!
Spectacular feeling.
I'm from the USA. And have never heard a band like this. I wrote Richard a letter. In 2021 . Hopefully it will get returned. That would be sweet.
Where are they now?
2024 and I'm here.
Excellent Nick McCabe Guitar One of the most underrated guitarist
You're all welcome to my unnamed lake on mount lassen in California. It's heaven. I remember when I discovered verve in 1998 then there besides etc in 2003. I finally made it a place worthy of them. New York or Connecticut couldn't cut it like upper remote northern California. California can cut it every time no lie way better than the rest of them no offense i found heaven freedom God glory what a story good morning good night stay up under moon light that shines down from above like love like a dove 🕊️
The guitar its so epic!!
The outro is beyond words...
And this the radio edit. There’s a 9 minute version with an extended outro
It's so easy to get addicted to bands like this. I've been listening to their songs over and over again for at least a week.
a top ten song of all time, their best one for sure
It's their best song!
Heavenly
Not to mention the bass player!!
I would’ve loved to see them when they sounded like this !
More like spacemen 3 than britpop
@@nicksmart5469 They will become timeless, I am sure ....
@@otter662 Certainly lots of spacemen 3 influences going on there
Yep. They were great.
The sound of that guitar blows me away ! Love it !
ugh the beginning is so good
masterpiece.
after this record there is nothing..just a void where no other band can reach
Beautiful & powerful! Blissful!🌟
Fantastic tune. What a guitarist

This is classic shoegaze! Cool!
This is beyond shoe gaze.
UrbanExplorer1000 stfu Actually it is bozo.
this song is awesome and Richards hair looks wicked in the video
The British did 90's music better. Proof, seen above :)
I agree, plus 60`s and 70`s
***** go away if you don't like the band. otherwise you are wasting my time.
***** Dude, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you have no "proof" that American music is better than British music...it's a matter of taste. I used the word "proof" loosely in my previous comment; there is no proof for what is better or worse.when it comes to art.
My original statement was meant to be funny as well as an expression of my opinion. Everything written on the internet isn't always factual.
no kidding!
I wish we could just stay in the 90's 😂😂
beautiful...so simple and so full of images
crunchy drive for the intro ❤❤
love Sir Richard
addicted
An amazingly attractive creative man in this addicting music that is just pleasing + fun to get into.
Huuuuuge hangover vibe! -I know I know this is psychedelic pop
Wait.... this band used to be one of the best shoegazing/dream popping troupes about? Why ever is it that I only find this out tonight?

I Love The Verve.
never gets old.
Richard was very much a modern Mick Jagger in the early years of a band
A modern Mick Jagger?! A corporate, Unionist, greedy prick with no creativity left in those bones of his haha!
TravellingShoes Hes prob talking about his looks...which i can agree..Geez are some verve fans going to hate the stones cause they got sued...seems so stupid.
yeah, I never saw the mick thing until this video, now I see what they see
Adore the Verve. Only knew them from 'Lucky Man' and 'Symphony' so great to hear some of their earlier stuff.
Fearless youth. Going for it, and hopefully enjoyed, had joy in the process, in the moment ...
WoW quel permanentas au top 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
great single, the verve...!!
I would have loved to hear this song in the context of an album.
when music was music, bands would play music for people who loved music
