Taycan Turbo vs Turbo S Review - Better than a Porsche 911 Turbo S!
2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo Review and 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Review by The Straight Pipes. The Porsche Taycan Turbo makes more horsepower during a launch than the Turbo, but makes the same 616hp otherwise. Would this be your pick over the Porsche 911 Turbo S or Tesla Model S Performance?

This car costs about $200 or more here. It’s absolutely unattainable. Thus why watch this video unless your a masochist. If you’re a millionaire or won the Lottery watch otherwise turn on your TV and enjoy the latest Netflix or Amazon Prime show.
When it comes out, review the Audi E-tron GT, which is technically the Taycan GTS. Then compare it with the Taycan 4S. They're not rivals by the way.
I like to be porsche 911 gt3 rs and the gt2rs but this car is amazing electric car way better than a tesla model 3.
Guys Try Drag Race please
Where is your supra and Aventador videos
Man you guys missed the perfect opportunity to say “I’m Jakub. I’m Yuri. And we’re TAYCAN a drive!”

If it ain't 15 years old and high mileage... Then I can't have it
A huge part of the drag coefficent difference is actually the tire width.
And probably the range difference too
Never knew or thought about that. Thanks 👍
On the taycan the electric fuel door means the side vent is closed regardless of which model you have- without the fuel door the real vent collects many stones and dirt! I think the co-efficient will be minimal but tires definitely will make that difference
@Luca.....James May? Is that you?
@@ThomasSchultz what ... what gave it away? Just kidding, do I sound like him? 😂
The launch sounds like something from Star Wars
When I heard it I was in love
That's somewhat true. Lucas film actually made that sound.
Sounds like a printer from the outside!
@@lewispark4838 So that's why they had stormtroopers during the Taycan's Asian launch. I love it!!!!!
Yeah even I was about to say this
The second launch, he orgasmed. The spaceship sound is really Master Chief using the overshield.
The vents on the turbo s aren't fake, they open up when you go faster
Man, I wish I could drive around with my best friend yeeting Porsches.

this is such a great show! i love how you guys have integrated your own stuff to make this show unique, from supercar checklist, box test, coffee cup test, etc. Keep up the great work!! i hope meet and greet is soon in the works??
I gotta admit, this is the first EV that sounds cool when taking off.
So good seeing you guys back on the road! I still maintain you did the best transition in lock down! Loved the Raptor and Prowler door closing improv. We can't compare the two here in Australia as the 911 Turbo S is about $143k more comparing starting prices.
This is the nicest comment I’ve read all week ❤️❤️
Love this channel, you guys put a lot of work into making each video a quality piece of work, and it really shows! Your edits are clean, and really thoughtful, like when showing interior functions. Watching other car reviews and I'm like where's the quick edit to the feature? You guys have ruined me for other videos!
😁
The editing and photoshop used on this video is amazing! Great job boys!
Yuri’s sounds to describe the cars different launch and stopping noises are the best! lol
1:19 you can tell by the head movement 😅
There was acceleration, jerk, snap, crackle, and pop.
Hahahah didn't notice, loooooll
They need to stop faking this launch reactions, its every video now, feels over exaggerated.
Nikola Efremov You’re an idiot. You have zero idea what anything close to this acceleration feels like, if you did you wouldn’t say something so dumb.
@@nikolaefremov8810 clearly you haven't been in a light car with above 400hp
1:15 and 1:20 did anyone see how fast those cars kicked in 😂 the g force was too much for them to predict
That clip is insane 😂
Meet every single Taycan review, it's like a contractual thing to do Launch Control and every single person that does it is... unprepared for the immediacy of it. This is clearly a car where, if you want power and speed while deciding it's a good idea to put your foot to the floor... it just says "Here you go, all the speed I can muster." No song and dance, no waiting for the engine/turbo to spool up, no overheat limit to how many times you can do it, no warning, no problems (well till you find trouble). All the power, at the push of the pedal, till you are under 5% battery charge....
Stellar content lately - Truly worth 1M+ subs - Keep going guys!!
The best comprehensive video covering pretty much everything about the Taycan 👍
After all these years of watching your videos, I still love hearing that outro music. It's so 🔥
Loving all the Porsche Videos latley Keep it up!
Very informative!!!!!!!!! You guys rock!!!
This is the first video of yours that I have watched and I am very impressed. High-quality cinematography, excellent broadcasting style with the switching between the two of you, and great on-point humor. Aaron Palos was not wrong about your channel. Awesome.

Very detailed review. Especially the tech inside. I think the automated ac vents are a deal breaker for me
This was a super informative review!!! loved it
@ 12:57 "Bottoms at the button" You're welcome, Yuri
Can't get over how amazing the acceleration sounds in these cars! Like the light runner from Tron :)
A video worth much more than one million subs! Rooting for you guys.
Hi Boys, old big fan from Vienna, Austria Porsche claimed it has microphones in the drivetrain, only compression and EQs applied. Perfect and funny test as always! ;-) cheers!
Its GREAT review. AMAZING job guys....
Best and most thorough review of the Taycans! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I absolutely love the look of these cars. The future is now, old man!!!!
Loving the Porsche vids lately
Slick audio edit there Yuri. :)
Best intro out of any straight pipes video
Dude the music is actually insane, love you guys for using it :)
that thumbnails needs no wording
The main difference in the drag coefficient between the Turbo and the Turbo S comes from the different tire sizes not from the vents you guys pointed out. Although they definitely still contribute a little bit.
Damn, I knew that before watching it was necessary to "smoke"🤪 Intro is superb👍
Electric car: **Sound intensifies**
lol they sound exactly like electric forklift i drive at work when braking.
No way, electric motors make the same noise when braking My Volt makes the same noise too, just EV noises doesn't matter the power

Haha. Between 1:15 and 1:22 it was so funny. 🤣 The way it just disappears and makes a scifi wooo sound. And then watching Jakub's head go back at 1:20. Lol.
amazing cars but i'd still take the 911 Turbo S
i'd take the panamera turbo s
Gaming Universe id take panamera e-hybrid turbo s, best of both world
LetMe Summarize Panamera turbo s e hybrid is the only turbo s option for the panamera. They don’t have a panamera turbo s. They only have the Panamera Turbo S E hybrid.
It drives like a boat compared to the Taycan but it does have a lot more space. I'm a big fan of hybrids in general but from a maintenance/cost of ownership standpoint they're the worst if all worlds. Porsche has had problems with engine seals from engines that aren't run enough. So if you buy one, remember to drive it like you stole it to keep that engine healthy. 😉
I'd probably get the 4S or wait for the Audi E-tron GT to come out, which is essentially a Taycan GTS.
Much love from Honduras
You guys liked it again. ANOTHER VIDEO ! Banger again!! Keep pumpin out videos!!
Waiting for 2nd gen. Awesome review and wonderful feedback and critique to Porsche. Hope they nail next gen's model
The mission-e wheels increase the drag coefficient from 0.22 to 0.25. This was said during the video with Jay Leno.
Great review! 🌟
At 200k, I guess we will see them everywhere ...
I don’t see why not. Especially since it’s a Porsche and you can lease them. They will get as boring as a Tesla.
Victor lol
@@vika0194 as boring as a tesla ? Yeah right lol youre comparing porsche to a tesla? C'mon now... a brand known for performance vehicles vs a bland basic electric car with no interior, a big iPad screen and electric motors

The brakes on the turbo is a new tungsten costed rosters designed by Porsche. Engineer explained did a video explaining it.
Ah I missed that
Watching Jakub’s head whip back at 1:22, that’s when you know its very quick
Beautiful Porsche! are those the brakes that Engineering explained review? cuz they were shiny too
Great comparison 💯
Awe yes, this is epic. Thank you Porche. Greatest review show on the web.
I read somewhere that the cars with the powered charging doors get the closed vents. Might be that but not sure. Some wiring/parts might be going through that space when you have the sliding power door.
In the Turbo the breaks are not just steel. They are Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB) which are fairly better than just steel discs. Engineering Explained covered them in a video.
Hey Guys!.. Great video! @TheStraightPipes Pinning the Porsche 911 Turbo S against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a crazy comparison choice! I love the 911 Turbo S, it's one of my favorite cars!... With that said; putting it up against the Taycan Turbo S makes it a hard decision... But I myself, would also choose the Porsche Taycan Turbo S over the 911 Turbo S..
The space noises are actually the Taycan’s own motor recorded in a studio setting that was sort of remixed to help you hear what the car is doing. They have a video about it on their KZhead channel
@12:13 - Will ya look at that, Tay Tay in the Taycan lmaoo
Testament to how smooth the ride is: you guys shooting from the grey taycan. I mean yeah it's stabilized but it's level AF.
This is such a good review. You would think if you have the money to just buy the faster one but that is definitely not the case here it seems! I would get the turbo too....all white with those rims from the concept w/ white on black
The front fender vents are not different between the Turbo and the Turbo S. The Turbo S is missing the vents because of the electric charging port. All Taycans with the regular charging port have vented fenders
I've never been more jealous of you guys BUT well deserved!!
Damn that intro music slaps so hard. Almost as hard as the launch of the car
i agree this is the best channel on youtube
Taycan Turbo comes with PSCB brakes, and it cannot be compared to regular steel brakes. They are made of steel brakes, but coated with a thin layer of tungsten carbide. "Engineering Explained" have made a video about it. Why the callipers are white is because these brakes makes around 95% less brake dust than regular steel brakes. If you chose to have electric charging port on either 4S, Turbo or Turbo S, you will loose the air-vent underneath the port. It may have something to to with the electric motor to the port. You cannot adjust the volume with two fingers over the "field", but you can adjust it if you take from the field up and down in the same motion.
The overlaying sound is the inverter changing it's frequency.
Last time I was this early, was pretty long ago.
same
Looks cool and all and sure drives amazing, but all these screens and UI stuff, I don't know if I could get used to this future.
Review the 4s model if possible, I think that's a very similiar car but much cheaper. Would love to hear what you think about it.
i’ve been waiting to see these taycans again 🥺
Great video as always! The price puts them in supercar territory, and they still can't get Tesla range, but dang those look fun to drive!
I’m pretty certain the white brake calipers signify Porsche’s patented tungsten-carbide-coated brakes. They offer better stopping power and fade-resistance compared to conventional steel rotors and are near dust-proof.
I think the white calliper brakes are tungsten carbide brakes that have way less brake dust. This is still a premium brake kit from the standard steel brakes
gave even me a headache watching those launches! great video guys!
I think Jason Feske mentioned on Engineering explained the replacement cost for the carbon ceramics was $32k.
Three Porsche videos in one week!? Quarantine is OVVEERRRRR
Actually the Turbo doesn't have regular steel brakes but PSCBs (Porsche Surface Coated Brakes, hence the white calipers) and it's a unique technology developed by Porsche where the steel rotors have a 100 microns thickness coating of Tungsten Carbide on the surface that makes these brakes behaving better at high temperatures compared to regular steel with a huge reduction in brake dust at a third of the price of carbon ceramics
If one needs a daily driver sedan (4-seater for both summer and winter) here in the Ottawa region, would you go for the Taycan Turbo, a well-optioned Panamera GTS Sport Turismo, or an S63? Mileage for the Taycan isn't an issue. Thanks
14:09 huh? you don't need to follow construction zone speed limits in canada? are they suggestions to slow down rather than limits?
that electric gear shift sounds awesome, spaceship
You said they were the standard brakes but are they the Tungsten coated rotors?
Yes.
Yes the white calipers are the PSCB brakes. The red calipers on the 4S are the regular steel brakes. I watched a Cayenne review that said the PSCBs are $11k to replace and ceramics $32k(!!!). But the PSCBs last 30% longer and the car uses a lot of regen so you might get 100k miles out of them. The ceramics will last basically forever on a Taycan but if you crack one it's a world of pain.
@@canyonaro EngineeringExplained 😉
That intro music thoooo 😆
Guys! You are doing a great job! These cars are simple awesome (with or without "S"). But, well, do you really think all these infotainment stuff (other than navigation related) is worth the video time? ;)
At 1:21 lol that whip lash 😂
My ideal would be a Taycan 4S with the base wheel (aero and rolling resistance advantage) with the larger battery, glass roof, rear steering and nothing else. A 3.8 sec to 60 mph sprint is plenty fast
Is anyone else noticing that Jakub looks just like the actor who plays Foggy Nelson in the Daredevil Netflix series?
Nice video, guys! But did you forget to tell us the overall range like you said you would at the end?
No it was in the graphic. Do the math on it
@@TheStraightPipes so the numbers at 19.53? And don't forget to test the 4S for us!!!!!
THOSE WHEELS ARE SICK!! - Best wheels I have EVER seen on a production vehicle! (Besides the Civic Type-R FK8) LMAO!
White calipers Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB). At the core of this new technology are discs with an exceptionally hard tungsten-carbide coating
1:05 Y’all were dangerously close lol had me nervous!
The difference between using Apple music on the iphone and the built-in app is that the first one depletes my monthly data volume and the latter one uses thy Taycans built-in 4G . So it can make sense depending on your cell phone monthly data volume.
Love @thestraightpipes ❤❤
You wouldn't want the carbon ceramic brakes if you'd seen EngineeringExplained's latest video with the replacement cost of the discs and pads, haha.
