Maybe that's why their country has grown so much in such a short space of time. Even if they didn't know a lot of English everyone here was determined to give it a go because it was the right thing to do. It's an impressive trait to have.

  • It's nice to see how kind they were to the boy. My 10 year old son got lost two weeks after we moved to Switzerland, on his way back from school swimming, since the idiot teacher just left him there, even though it was only his third day at school. It was cold and snowing, and he had no phone (since they weren't allowed at school). He roamed around for hours while trying to find his way home and cried almost to the whole time. Three different people approached him while he was sitting on a sidewalk, crying his eyes out. But when he told them he could not speak German, they seemed to get indifferent and just walked away. I still don't understand why nobody cared about helping a crying, lost, cold little boy. I am happy to see that Koreans are different.

  • Wow, Korea has changed so so much in the last several score years! Even 20 years ago, most young koreans couldn't speak english. I'm so glad that SK has globalized like most European countries. I met a friend from Germany, France and Netherlands who have learned English since primary school. So nice to see how we have changed.
