  • This is what a horror movie is. Not just kill blood and body count but a psychological thiller. Suspense. Well thought out and written movie. There should be a Darkness 2. A origin sorry about the three people in the picture the guy hung on the wall.

  • Critics panned this, but honestly I don't get it. It's not ideal, it's a bit slow for an average person, but I enjoyed that. The acting is clunky here and there but nothing too bad, and in places it's stellar, especially by Anna Paquin and the actor who played her little brother. Visually, it's stunning, atmospheric and in places genuinely cinematic! The story builds up, the characters are not just throwaway plot devices, jump scares are minimal. Many fears are explored; among others loosing sanity, domestic violence, fear of dark, fear of supernatural, losing control in life, looking the loved ones suffer... I don't get the critics. More so when they praised the likes of conjuring and insidious, that despite all the popularity, are garbage compared to this, story wise, in terms of acting and definitely visually.

    @miloradvlaovic@miloradvlaovic4 ай бұрын
    • Insidious, The Conjuring and all the other BS movies under that same umbrella are absolute trash. A horror movie should make you think about your own fears and we ALL fear other humans something this movie touches on.

    • Yeah, slow is good for for me too. I guess, as you said, the average person wants full action and story unfolding ten minutes in^^ Critics too. But I like the slow burn. It's more like a book.

That's so if one gets sick, was injured when you kidnapped them, or otherwise isn't up to the standards of the demon you're sacrificing them to you'll have a spare kid instead of getting cursed yourself for only sacrificing 6 children.

  • Re-Animator director Brian Yuzna made a good bunch of horror movies in Spain, back circa 2000. This one (which he produced, but not directed) is probably the best. Dagon, though cheesier, is also quite cool. Director Jaume Balagueró would later make REC·, which would see a (much inferior) American remake named Quarantine. And those dark motherfuckers crawling thru the ceiling scared the crap out of me as a kid XD

    • It kind of did here though. The whole family ended up in hell. The kids didn't get out, they were with something that wasn't the daughter's friend. He was at the house. Whatever that was that was driving them away wasn't her friend and the moment they entered that tunnel they were right back in hell.

  • A artistic, physilogical thriller, supernatural. This type of style is called fun house, experimental. It looks like the director had fun creating this and it was shown. Some scenes where just wow. The story was bit confusing to follow. l ended up liking it a lot more than l thought l would. 6 out 10 for me

  • I didn't get the end at all. It didn't end, in my opinion. Very weird. Darkness. So, the father dies? What happens to the mom and the granddad? And the six other children? No clue. I skipped like 30 minutes, because it got too boring. Whispered dialogues that I could hardly make out. The rest often too loud. Certainly not the best horror or thriller I have seen.

    • Finally someone said it! This movie was horrible and tough to watch. Both my husband and I barely made it through. Not scary, terrible acting and just a horrible story line. So disappointed. I really liked most of the actors too. I just think it was just the bad story that made the acting seem so bad. Just bad all the way around
