He was brutal for a genuine cause.
He used psychological warfare Imagine the reaction of his enemies when they saw fields of impaled soldiers Some still alive...

Subtly elegant, understated, intriguing and imaginative recounting of the old tale.. I remember watching this 20yrs ago. Its a very underrated movie..

@joannemadden7449 Yes, I do believe that I watched it with my husband - just started it, anxious to see if it was the same movie that we saw. So far I like it. My husband passed away after. I haven't been able to watch horror- murder shows since.

I hope that one day, you can find yourself watching them all again & fully enjoying them, as if he were sat right beside you.
I saw this movie back when it was released and thought it was great. Mixes truth with some of the myth to make a very interesting film. Rudolph Martin is also incredibly charismatic as Vlad.
He's perfect!
The real life Vlad was darker than the character played here. He showed no mercy

I am so happy I found this movie! I had this movie once before but my ex kept it. Absolutely refused to give me any of my movies back! It's one of my favorite movies! Stayed up till 2 am to watch it!
I would of taken him to small claims court for stealing your property with refusing to give them back!!

Loved Rudolph as Dracula on Buffy so nice to see him portraying the actual Vlad in this
His bodyguard Bruno a real one. Love their genuine connection and friendship together. Helped him when he was poor without knowing who he was and all he wanted in returned was to be fed. Hard to find that type of friend.

I too, was struck by their connection - all the way from their meeting, to the bitter end. Bruno would literally lay down & die, if Vlad willed it. Fiercely loyal, super-strong, determined to do right by him - he could trust him with his life & his son's life - they are truly great qualities, found only in a true friend.
Rudolf Martin is such a great actor, his role on NCIS was absolutely awesome!
Vlad didn’t stop them at the gates of Vienna, he fought against the Ottomans in Romania, he won the first battle but lost the second in 17 June 1462. The siege of Vienna was in 1683 and the Ottomans lost the battle. The Chief Commander of the army that rescued Vienna was the Polish King, Jan Sobieski.

He really does have it down, balancing this complex character; the brutality towards his enemies & the tenderness of his love - in this, Rudolph is perfect.
I thought this would be exactly like the Luke Evans movie but this was much better. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie as it did mot overindulge in the immortality aspect. Pretty believable, thanks for posting this movie

And this is like " come, Țepeș, my Lord" and he is a true hero in my country because he fought thefts, traitorous and established peace. But I say....Let's not judge... the times were rough... he was traumatized...his brother was like converted into a sexual slave...his mother dead, his father killed.......My heart is near him. May God receive him and rest his soul for the prayers of his wife and the Romanian people thst still praise him until today ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

That was an EXCELLENT movie!! Great battle scenes, great gore and violence, and great acting! Just an overall fun movie for a Monday night.

I love the story, but it's a tragic. And there's a little bit dramatic and the twist. But still love the movie. This is a part of history of Dracula's life..
Sadly all the rulers and true warriors of Romania were betrayed by two faced, money hungry cowards

The guy who played Dracula actually played him on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. They met in a grave yard and Buffy fell for him bad. I did not like his makeup in igt though too pasty.
I'm very glad to see it posted finally for viewing and I'm very glad to see the comments posted , and that you enjoyed it as much as I did owning the DVD for my movie library that was stolen , I was impressed seeing Don Curshner help in this version of the real recorded history of Vladimir the Impaler

I remember watching this 20yrs ago. Its a very underrated movie.
Same. The writing and acting is far better than you’d expect from a USA original. I’m especially impressed with how well paced it is and the use of the through-line of “walk with me” was used. Budget left a lot to be desired but it’s impressive they achieved what they did

My older brother recorded when it aired on TV. Our parents always bought blank VHS’s in bulk and recorded things off the tv.

I discovered this movie back in high school typing class I was obsessed then and I’m obsessed noW I love this movie
This was superb thank you for the upload, having done quite a bit of research on the history of the subject it is a very good portrayal of events, a bit more on the Vlad's imprisonment showing the daily impalements he witnessed by the Turks through his cell window would help folks understand a bit more about him but to be a leader in the day you had to be ruthless. I'm watching It again because there is always something we miss 👍👍👍

This was very enjoyable to watch. I'm not sure how close to historical fact the movie was, but the storytelling itself was engaging and a superb production.
What a great movie I can’t believe I hadn’t heard about it,the acting was wonderful. A brutal movie and also tender in parts.will be watching again in the future

I am so thankful and grateful for uploading this movie and open up my eyes the other true side of Vlad Dracula. All I knew is a fiction and I love true story about him. One thing I live about him for the love of his country, countrymen and true love of his wife, his family. Love it
He was a great patriot whose image was distorted by his enemies and a stupid british writer Brown stucker or something like that, it's a shame must people don't know the truth history.
@@pacorondon3680 His name was Bram Stoker, he was from Ireland, & wrote the fictional story “Dracula” in 1897. At this time period, reading was not only a time for learning, but also entertainment. Many new authors were on the rise as a result, some becoming very famous & wealthy, b/c they knew they could capitalize on their stories, even if the history was fictionalized.

It’s an interesting movie but not sure how much is based on history. Apparently Vlad Tepes did exist, he was a Romanian noble at time Romania was under Ottoman rule. He rebelled against it he Ottoman Turks & was known to be particularly cruel in an era when cruelty was common. In Vlad’s time the Ottoman Empire was perhaps the greatest threat to Christian Europe. It was larger & more advanced than any Christian kingdom in that time period.

The best film I’ve seen in years.
Very interesting. It is my humble opinion, that while Dracula seem to have been vengeful and cruel in the way he treated his opponents, he also genuinely seem to have loved the people of Romania and seem to have been tried to save them from oppression. On the other hand there has been a power struggle between the Roman Church and the Eastern Orthodox church that played a major role in this, and eventually in his demise. to me all those legends about him being a vampire, etc were created by the church, as this has been one of the ways in which they asserted control over the ignorant/unenlightened populace. In my eyes he was just a human being, imperfect, but driven to help. What I am trying to say is that the Orthodox church condemned him for a political reason, which is not based in reality. They do not have the power to condemn a person to be undead. That is my take. In any event, thank you for sharing this and shedding light on this story, and how events turned into an unreal myth.

Absolutely accurate.. as the Romanians see it. Needless to say, the Turks felt VERY different, and still tell horror stories about him... However, as they were the unrepentant invaders every time and the romanians were just defending their country, it's pretty clear to almost anyone who was in the right... Great little twist in the end.. having him rising from the coffin!
