people need to hire you to make chip man decorations
i would buy the first version, just because it looks so different. I've never seen a white potato chip bag and therefore it looks extremely classy and elegant.
Cape Cod Chips. I eat them all the time
My thoughts exactly. Simple packaging for a simple "ingredients you'd find in your kitchen" type of product.
minimalistic, just like my Navy SEAL rations. Perfect.
San Carlo potato chips, probably one of the most famous in Italy
Old Dutch
Not only youre a great packaging/graphic designer, you’re also a great motion designer/video editor!
Thanks, appreciate it! Editing is one of my favorite things to do
@@BrandonShep if you don’t mind me asking, how did you get into and learn about editing like this?
@@lfxqc I started my editing journey as soon as I started making youtube videos. If you go back and watch my earliest videos, the editing is super simple. I watched other youtubers and picked up some editing tricks and applied more and more each subsequent video. Really it was just all about trying to make the next video more entertaining than the last, and a lot of that relies heavily on trying new things with editing. The great part is that you really only need to know the basics of an editing software (like after effects) to do 95% of the stuff I do in my videos.
@@BrandonShep So basically experience is important
@@hadim_mc Like everything else in life :)
I really love the 30 minutes version 🤩
Same, the 5 hour one is a bit to much
same
@@PokoTheDinosaur 5hr looks like a big brand, while the 30m one looks like a better tasting offbrand
@@PokoTheDinosaur I like the minimal green
I love when he just does his own thing 5:42 😂
I think the 30 Minute one is the best one in my personal opinion. Simple yet so effective
I agree
5 hours one looks so good though.
If he put the logo on the 30 minute one, it would have been perfect
I agree
same the only thing i wish it had is the logo but i guess there is a time crunch
I feel it would be super cool to do this in the reverse direction. The longer ones first, then shorter times as you go. That way you can try to see how many of the ideas you came up with in the longer ones you can use to assist yourself in the shorter times.
Yess that's a interesting idea
Hmm I’m not sure I feel about that because it’s almost like cheating the time limits and changes the whole experiment conceptually. But as a variation, especially to compare the results to when it’s done the more realistic way like he did here would be interesting
@@ChaosLord5129 Jeez man keep that negativity to yourself, at least criticise the idea instead of needlessly attacking someone’s character.
@Choas_Lord_512 but you are just cutting the top off a dandelion. You needlessly insulted someone. What will that do to stop the spreading. Exactly. Defeated by your own argument
@Choas_Lord_512 Grammar.
The 2nd one with the special font from the 3rd one and Black Pot logo from the third one would be ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.
That’s what I said. Totally agree.
yurr
Honestly liked the first two the most with the second one being the strongest design. My problem with the last one is the chip type that you used in the packaging, pringles style stackable chips make it seem much more processed than the home made style that kettle chips are supposed to evoke.
I thought so too...
IT BOTHERED ME TOO! Especially cause they looked like a BBQ flavored chip and not at all like what Sea Salt + Herb would look like.
yeah i was looking for a comment like this
ruined your 222 likes
Yeah exactly what I thought!
i thought the last design was a bit noisy at first but once the black was added it in looked incredible!!!
I never thought such design could be achieved so simply! The way you walk us through your thinking process is a joy!
Thank you so much! Very happy you enjoyed it :)
@@BrandonShep the first one only took u 5 minutes but looks so classy elegant I would buy it instant 😂
This is crazy good! That last one is nuts. The edge duplicate + highlight combo to get a 3D effect? Genius
Thanks a lot, Ron! Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I think this video is just proof that with enough time, a graphic designer can achieve a top tier (and also very memorable) design. I love how every single one of the designs still look marketable, not unfinished. Your channel keeps me motivated for the road i'm going for in life.
Good luck on that road!! You got this!
This guy deserves way more recognition than he gets! He’s the best designer I’ve seen! He’s flexible, creative, and makes FANTASTIC designs! I just wish he uploaded more often so I could watch more videos ❤
Working on a bunch of things for 2023, so I'm a little slow on posting right now. But a lot of great things are coming!
@@BrandonShep ahhh!! I literally can not wait 😊, I have a video suggestion of a making a healthier Cereal into a kid version (sorry I said this before) u don’t have to do this Ofc❤
Brandon, please, don’t stop and don’t freeze your channel any more, i missed your content and talent, appreciate what you are doing for us, thanks a lot, keep doing ❤️
I don't plan on going on anymore year long breaks 😂
I agree. Please keep making those videos. We learn a lot.
ngl, that first version of the potato chip was actually pretty good. The minimalistic style was super nice and modern. Great video by the way
If, I would be the CEO of some potato chips company, I would surely choose second one. top notch color distribution.
I feel like the second one is so good! The packaging immediately lets you know what you’re buying, while still looking nice and professional.
I love how he describes the process and the elements in the making of the "Black Pot" logo at ~ 10:04 so simple while it's probably one of the best designs I have seen for a logo... amazing job!
First, I was impressed with the first one, then with the second one, once you added the textured green, the herbs, salt and adding shadow, I was mind BLOWN! the third one, with the text bending and popping the all natural ingredients with the wood texture was PHENOMENAL! the last minute black was definitely a great choice! if the black pot label from the third one could be on the second one, it would be my favorite
The last one is Wow, i do be liking simple designs more and more tho, so to attract people i think the last one will work perfectly, my test is the second one, it's impressive how the right time can lead to such a result, so advice to clients out there, DON'T RUSH YOUR DESIGNERS
Exactly! Often the best design only comes after trying a bunch of bad ones. It’s a process
It looks simple but it takes 270 mins so something may happen in between
@@BrandonShep yep
Hi
I can’t tell you how relaxing it is to watch these. I’m a filmmaker but I love watching your videos.
5:58 Boy, you didn’t have time LONG AGO. (The time was up lol)
I really think the second one was amazing!
For the amount of time, I think it turned out really well too 😄
My personal favourite will still have to be the last one, it just tied all the perfect element together , the 2nd look amazing tho
Hi Brandon 👋
I like how he spends hours designing a chip bag but doesn't sell it
The 2nd one or you would say 30 minute potato chip bag is my favorite because, it’s simple but also detailed at the same time, and the green contrasts really well with the herbs. Another thing, I would buy all of those chip bags, great job!
5:53 bro didnt realize he ran out of time lmao
You're one of the best graphic design channels out here, criminally underrated!!
Duuude I’ve binge watched all your video in like 2 days, keep ‘em coming!! Great stuff and so easy to understand all your thought going into the projects
9:33 "maybe even take a little chip out of there" NICE pun!! 😂🙌🏼
i like how the second and third pop out in their own way and how all the things fit so well together
Goes to show that more is not always better. But adding all those little details is really fun so I can relate.
1:10 To be honest, I would buy this😂
I am so glad the algorithm blessed me with this video! As a fellow designer, I’m always longing for more design channels to watch. Just subscribed, can’t wait to see more!
tbh all of them are amazing in their own ways and all look very appetising. the first one is very unique, second one looks professional in a simpler way and the last one looks extremely detailed and professional.
Just subscribed and have been binge-watching your videos! I realized you were on a hiatus. Man, I AM BEGGING PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YT NOW! I need creators like you! These types of videos are so good and educational! I am loving your channel!
Welcome aboard, Dev! Glad you're liking my channel so far! And don't worry, no more year-long breaks 😂
Each one of these was amazing. The road to perfection. This was a great video. Thanks for doing this.
You’re so good at what you do. Not just the design work, but the overall quality of the videos. Very entertaining.
All of 3 designs are great, I mean... in 5 minutes you manage to create a minimalistic yet elegant and great looking package, simple... yet effective. That skill is priceless! New subscriber! I love your work.
i love your persistence when it comes to always drawing the shadows or using a separate flat color layer instead of just using a drop shadow i don’t understand why you do it, but i love it. great video
Because Drop Shadows are very inaccurate :)
@@BrandonShep in what way do you mean that? not trying to argue here, just interested
@@emnersonn Drop Shadow treats the object like every point on it is equally as close to the surface it's casting the shadow on. This is true of flat objects but not of anything that has a more complex shape.
@@BrandonShep thank you :) i’ll take this into account in my graphic design in the future!! i really appreciate the tip
Wow! Your third potato chip bag design really did look like something that may be found in a store! Keep it up!
As i am starting my graphic design career, just wanted to say, you’re they only channel i watch on youtube these days. Absolutely amazing
Your videos are just absolutely amazing. You put so much creativity into the entire process of the design, the editing, the sound design, and each video is entertaining from beginning to end. I only came across your videos this week and have already watched all of them. You've reignited my love for graphic design and made me want to experiment with so many new techniques and methods that you've demonstrated. Thank you! I hope great things come your way.
This video was in my recommended and it lead me to watch all of your videos in a day!! I love your video editing too, it’s a lot of effort but we really do appreciate it!! This video was super entertaining
Haha, that's crazy! Thanks so much for the support :)
Crazy how the last one took him over 4 hours, yet I (and as I've seen some others say) like the second one better. Still really impressed by all of them!
I found your channel recently, and I'm still watching your videos from two years ago. Your process and design skills are great. I look forward to watching your latest.
This channel is a gold mine, please do more videos as this one!!!! Keep up the amazing content!
Takes me back to the Pancake Mix videos, but with a more modern and fast paced twist to it. Good job Brandon!
Haha yeah, I had the same thought! That's partially why I made the final changes in the end.
These are awesome, I love the last 2 designs. Your videos always inspire me!
Thanks a lot William! I did like the last 2 as well :)
So happy you're back! Amazing work as always :)
This was great! Loved it!!
Look at the clock! 5:35
I think making the "sea salt & herb" text the same color as the "all natural ingredients" would make the last design look a lot better! Especially since you changed "kettle chips" to white and that would also make the different (black vs wood) sections more distinguished!! With that change Id love the third design
i love your energy bro. keep up the good videos theyre all great
i recently found your channel and i've watched every single video, absolutely love your content!
Bro for the 30min he used like 34min 6:06 look at the timer
I would buy the first one. The other 2 scream "please buy me, I look fancy" like they are trying to sell the bag not the chips, while the first one looks like is selling me just some good chips.
Bro you delusional if you buy a plain white bag with chips and some black texts 💀 That’s some bad designing bro 💀
All the packaging looks good, even the one you did in 5 minutes. I love them all. 💕
Honestly, to me the best part of this video was the shadow stuff and I loved that you mentioned that that was a part you like too cuz I think it takes it to the next level no matter how long you're spending
Hi, Brendon, I like your work with text and different ways of fixing letters and curves of fonts - it looks very cool and stylish, regards!
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Now I'd really love to see how much of a difference in sales these packaging make! Because strangely enough, sometimes, the more stylized or simple designs attract even more people that the more professional and detailed ones
@@moth821 totally makes sense. I would too. But then again, if there wasn't the third packaging, I'd buy the chips with the 2nd design!
So glad to see you on yt again!
Im a packaging science student with an emphasis in package design and graphics at Clemson. Your channel was made for me.
6:32 it's not 30min, it's 34min!
This type of video is really entertaining! That last package looked so good, that black color up top looks premium and contrasts very nicely! 🙌 I had a video suggestion, there’s a new suite of design apps called Affinity and they did a huge V2 update a couple weeks ago, might be cool to see a video of you checking it out! The apps workflow is great (it’s the equivalent of opening Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator files seamlessly between apps.)
I'm a big fan of the Affinity apps! I honestly prefer their UI's to Adobe. I had considered making some of my videos with them, but Photoshop is soooo prevalent, I'm not sure if it would be a hinderance to my audience to use something unfamiliar. Will consider it though!
@@BrandonShep I really like their apps too! That's understandable since Photoshop is more prevalent. There's few KZheadrs on the Affinity side which could be a big new audience, but I get what you're saying. I'm excited for the next video! 😃
I Love design ideas and tips and you easily make the best videos teaching people how to do it, and it's entertaining to watch in general!
Companies should hire this guy to make their logos for their products ❤
Where do you think he got experience?
All three of them had their strengths and could be appropriate depending on what the customer was going for. Regarding the first one, when you made a comment about the white background being undesirable because it's boring, I immediately thought of Cape Cod brand snacks since their original chips come in a bag that is mostly white. While the third bag you did is certainly the fanciest, I do like the simplicity of the first bag, especially with respect to a food product that is trying to give off a healthy, simple, back-to-basics vibe.
7:48 I NEED TO KNOW THAT SONG
It sounds like crim3s - lost
Wow I love the third version so much.I just wish there were more pacaging designs like yours.
Congrats on 100k! I really love how creative your designs are. You are so talented...
bro made the stranger things logo 7:55
i love this video, please make more of these! great work
Great video bro. Your peanut bar video popped up in my feed while the ads were playing in the cinemas, and I've been binging your content ever since. I've noticed adding shadows/lighting helps a lot in all the designs. You've got a very gentle presenting voice, keep it up man.
I preferred the second one even though it wasn't perfect. It felt simple and elegant despite the small amount of time spent on it especially when compared to the final one. Of course but that doesn't mean the last one wasn't good either :c
0:35 *LOREM IPSUM*
bro, u deserve to be way more famous, KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!
Enjoyed it. It's so inspiring to watch another designer go through the same type of process that you struggle with, but then to come up with a satisfying new result!
american chips have 226g???? the most i can find is 140g in moldova, what??
America isn’t the best when it comes to food
They are all nice but if i would see these three packages in the store i would definitely grab the third one 🙈
They all look so good, love the simplicity on the first one. (even if it wasn't intended)
I like the first version best because it’s super simple and clean and it makes it feel like a healthier bag of chips
HUNGRY. (Edit) (4 minutes later) NOM!
Amazing content @Brandon, as always 👏🏻👏🏻 My question is how and what type of file will you send for the final print? It would be great to have more insights on the print phase 🙏🏻
Those questions will likely be answered in my next video!
@@BrandonShep This question is always going through my head. So excited to see a video addressing it! 😍
@TripleA3 Not to take anything away from Brandon's next video, but I occasionally do packaging design with the company I work for. Generally, the company producing the package will have an unfolded template that you just place your design onto and send back. I like Brandon's idea of designing on a mockup. It does give you a better idea of what the finished product will look like, and it makes a bigger impact during the client presentation. The only downside is that it's not always easy to find a mockup with the exact specifications as the actual bag, so you may end up making slight layout adjustments on the final product.
It depends on a print company, but usually the TIFF file format is the most preferred one.
@@NektoDesigner Thanks Nekto! I was actually talking about the content of the file rather than the extension. Should it be designed as dielines or any other format?
I will be an apprentice in autum as a graphics designer and youre giving me so many ideas and inspirations! Thank you
KZhead recommended this and for the first time I don't regret clicking subbed and liked expecting same quality videos like this one
You’re a design pro, new sub
I love how each of these has a different feel depending on the target market!!
adding the black bit on the last one made it awesome
This is absolutely insane! I'm mesmerized
*You are amazing! I think the whole world needs to see your amazing skills!*
The last one is veey detailed i love it it gives the cottage vibes for me
Props to him for spending 5+ hours straight to design packaging for nonexistent brands
This guy takes 5 minutes to make a unique and wonderful design. Big companies, like Walkers, take weeks or even months to make a bland design. Your amazing.
I loooove the third one, I thought it was already perfect before the you added the black part but that made it just that much better.
I would choose the 5 minute package because simplicity and how white background and color looks vibrant 🤩
Amazing work! I absolutly love the last concept. The images and composition layout worked so well in the 30m concept and im glad you decided to incorperate that within the final!
Please upload more! Your design skills are awesome!
I love the videos I just watch them ever single day keep up the good work
So awesome! I've been using adobe for 2 years now - so these designs seriously impress me. Everything on these designs is super well executed and pleasing to the eye. I hope I can design as well as you someday!
just when i was thinking i dont have anything new and interesting to watch on YT, the algorithm blesses me - ive always thought bout product design but never thought to actually look into it. plus, you're as natural on camera as black pot salt and herb chips
I'm glad you found your way to this small corner of the internet 😄
this was so cool, i’m glad this came up in my recommendations!
