Am I the first person to sleep inside a Tesla Cybertruck? Lets try it out! Thanks to @JerryRigEverything for renting this Tesla and letting me hang with him.
We rented the truck from @OurCyberLife and it was super nice of them. Don't worry, we will detail the truck inside and out to get my feet marks off!

Of all the pictures of me on the internet and you picked that one?
Is there a better one on the internet?
hi jerry
Well it is the first picture that pops up.
Hi Zack
From Fro to No
Biggest disappointment of the Cybertruck is the bed not being able to connect to the cabin
I think they believed to warm up the whole cabin then to the back of the beds where one would be sleeping would take too much batteries. It's may be better to just plug in a small space heater and warm up that way.
@@markn6941 lookup Escalade EXT midgate. I'm sure Tesla engineers could have done an even better job.
@@markn6941 The space heater takes a lot more energy it is 1:1, but the Tesla heat pump would consume only 1/3 energy to warm the same area
@@TTibus I agreed but the heat in the cabin would never reach the back of the truck's bed where it's the coldest. Unless they install a hvac all the way into the beds which I guess would cost much more and most people would rarely use.
@@markn6941this is why i’m hoping for a van
That's honestly kind of disappointing that the window nor does the back of the bed fold out because that would be probably one of the best ideas they could have done
Prob have to wait for the next version, after they fix all the issues the people who had no patience and brought the first model
True, but I think that is the compromise for having the motorised tonneau cover. It needs to roll up through a slot in the front of the bed.
@@michaelfink64 but im sure, with some design, it could fold up the other way around
Yup. They missed all kinds of opportunities to rush out an unfinished and inadequate product. It's very disappointing overall.
@@bry2kit's perfect
I am 6'4 and I camped in my Model 3 with my wife and it of course wasn't amazing but, it was very doable. I cannot wait to do it again!
My dream is to camp in a Cybertruck with their “basecamp”. My concern is that there is no HVAC into the bed to allow an optimal camping experience. If there is not - I am never buying this vehicle.
@@KZheadSupportOfficialUS My dream is to be 6'4
I am surprised that they didn't just turn the actual seats into comfortable beds. Like how Ford the seats recline all the way back so you can sleep. That to me makes more sense because the seat is already comfortable, and in case of emergency you hit a button and you're ready to drive off.
Unfortunately Cybertruck seats can not recline fully to flat. Poor design.
But they are not flat, as so I could not sleep on that.
Camping inside a Cybertruck was my biggest anticipation. I hope eventually they have a version you can open the vault to the cab
Important test. Job well done. I found a 59” x 22” foldable mattress system on Amazon that looks to fit back there perfectly. The length back there is like 59.7” I believe and the width is 27”. That would give you a better base layer for comfort. I am 6’1 and I am a side sleeper, so my legs are never fully extended. It looks like this could work on camping trips when I take my dirt bike on an adventure.
Honestly that sleeping bag base was super comfortable
@@WHATSINSIDEFAMILYDid you consider raising the drivers seat so while sleeping on your side your feet tucked under the raised seat base?
You could plug a ceramic heater in the bed
That's the proper preparation for this type of weather! A heating pad is another option.
Camp mode cabin vs electric heater in bed. Someone has to do the test.
@@garrettstephens no it’s not air tight
Can't wait to get mine, but this was one of my biggest disappointments with the Cybertruck. I camp in my Model S all the time and its great, but it feels like the Cybertruck may be a worse camping experience since there is no HVAC to the bed and the Basecamp tent also has no HVAC connections. A passthrough to the bed or HVAC vents to the bed would solve this. A midgate would be amazing.
Why tf would they put an Aircon in the Cargo Bed?
Gonna ignore THE LACK OF CRUMPLE ZONES?
@@brziperiod gonna ignore the Cybertruck production line walk through where they show the vehicles crumple zones?
@@LMahon4Life did you see the pic of the one that got into an accident? Sure looked like it ain't got much of a crumple zone if any...
@@brziperiod I did and the Cybertruck was hit on the drivers side not head on like many articles lead people to believe. You can even see some of the damage to the drivers side in the photo
That's the first Cybertruck we wrapped! That's awesome the Warthog is getting so much love.
I sleep in my Y all the time. Too bad there is no connection between the cab and bed on the CyberTruck.
Hey I love your videos keep up the good work!
Yeah doesn’t sound like any fun. Surprised you were able to sleep. Appreciate the dedication to making the video happen.
I loved his editor using the iPhone notepad as a to-do list lol
Thanks for making the sacrifice to test this out! Awesome video, Dan!
love how you blurred the feet hahaha
Thank goodness Dan understands that dude feet is the second grossest-looking thing on a male body. When guys do the vacation at the beach footshot that women tend to do, it makes me wanna 🤮
He missed it right after he turned over tho lol
Yeah, .. I got a yuck out of the blurred feet ...
Good, I'm sick of seeing people's feet everywhere I turn.
I love watching the life of this truck 😂 now channel number 3 featuring it🎉
Mid gate would have been epic for NOMADING! That was the 1# reason I wanted one + electric.
The ice breaking off the bed cover in sections was really cool 9:34
Literally watched the last video and was scrolling for this 😂
kind of strange that a vehicle that big and utilitarian is less able to sleep in that even model 3
Was anyone else shocked at how little it used up the battery? I thought it would cut it in half. Compare that to leaving an ICE running for 8 hours, the tank would be on E.
ICE running at idle uses between 0.5 - 2l of gas per hour. Assuming you have 60l tank it would last anywhere between 30 and 120hours.
@@ferenckuntic5839 that's fair, I wasn't thinking about idling vs. running at speed. I guess your only major risk is CO2 poisoning if it's not well ventilated or if there's somehow exhaust getting into the cabin.
My Wife and I camped twice in our Model 3 and it was amazing. While sleeping we AC charged during a road trip and used our camping equipment (sleeping Pad and Bag). So we woke up in a fully charged car and saved a lot of time.
Good Job!Thank you from Europe France.
My dad is getting a model Y tomorrow. I am hyped to sleep inside it.
nice, you picked the safest car on the market right now
It must be a piece of dung
I'm thinking you could keep the seats down in regular position and someone could make an air mattress to fit on top of the seat and over the floor that touches the back of the front seats and it have a blow up chamber that goes from the bottom of the mattress that goes down to the floor for support on that side and you could lay diagonal for 1 taller person (6'1") or lay side by side for 2 short people. What do you think since you have now experienced the space?
Next version update they HAVE TO put an opening in the back window or maybe even better some controllable vents from the cabin to the back. Being able to sleep in the back with climate control in there would be AWESOME!!
Personally I could sleep back there, even at 6'3", I often curl up when I sleep. So it will be a great option for an option to avoid hotels when I won't make it home. However, If i'm actually planning to sleep in the truck, I'll plug a smart space heater in the bed and put a small mattress in there. Even if you have a wide mattress, you could probably mount a smart heater to the Ltrack with a small modification.
Very fun! Don't worry about cleaning it too well, my kids are going to wreck it again on the way back to Texas! 😁
LOL. I'm for sure getting it detailed!
Thank you so much for this video! The absence of a midate on the Cybertruck is a huge miss. They should have made the tonneau cover removable and top opening instead of the retractable one and put in a midgate.
Cool mate make more with this machine!
Thank you for the referral, just bought a new model y edit: you actually got me into teslas.
Nice!!
The video I was looking for
You need to get your hands on the Silverado EV when it’s available. The most impressive setup on any EV truck hands down in my opinion!
I’m 6’ maybe a little better. Camp package with an efficient space heater I’m thinking in the back. Can’t wait for the beast
That's something I asked and surprised so soon there's a video about it out already! Did you see my question? But it would be really practical and useful if the wall between the rear seat and the truck able to pass through so you can sleep at there but then it will be scary if the software goes wrong and the truck cover go down and cut or damage your legs while sleeping!
tip if your front camreas on tesla cybert are dirty you can press a button on the screen and the truck will wash it using wiper fluid
Guess the only good thing about being 5' 4" is that I can sleep streached out in the back of my dad's F150 when I am taking it on road trips and dont want to get a hotel. I usually park in an empty lot or a train station and curl up in the back just fine
Also good for flights. I'm 6'4" and chonk, so it's always torture. I'd prefer to be short if I had the choice.
I'm only 5' 5" and my wife is only 5'. May be both of us can fit there at the same time! LOL
I think you'd be safer in a hotel parking lot ... That's my choice ...
@@prawnmikusit’s all always the taller dudes that are the nicest it’s always the dudes that are 5’11-6’0 that’ll call me short and I’m 5’8 I be like dude your only 3 inches taller than me 😂
@conormayweather5474 Interesting. I've never bugged anyone about being shorter than me so maybe you're into something (apart from my envy of them fitting where i can't). My 17 year old kid is even taller and he's the same - never heard him comment on that.
Woooow are you gonna get one?! You should
your the best youtuber!
HUS LEGS FELL ASLEEP....HAHAHA
Wish he would have measured it across. Also wonder if you pull the back seats and build a platform bed back there how well it could work for up to 2. Id want it at least 38 in wide as thats a twins width.
I'll stick to camping in the back of my 80 series landcruiser lol
I don't suppose the front seats can lie flat when the back seats are up?
Daaaaaaang that’s a good lookin snowman
Do you think it would be possible to plug a small portable heater into the bed of the truck, and then you can place a mattress in there? If you could, that would be a pretty nice test to try out.
almost certainly it has at least 110 outlets, if not 220. at minimum though probably want to some kind of insulation material or like a tent to create an air gap
This is a good question, as there is no way I could sleep in the cab like he did.
It’s crazy they didn’t make that back panel/glass openable.
Need's some engineering around lay flat seats. Fold the rear seats up, and the fronts should have a mode that converts into two very thin beds by folding backwards and something should raise in the footwell for even more length.
Looks cozy
It looks like there is water in the bed of the truck when you first open it. Is that from it not being waterproof/weatherproof or was it open before and that is just snow melt? If you have items in the bed and it snows/rains, will the items get wet?
10/10 Content Bro
I like Tesla cyber truck it’s one of my favourite teslas and the Model x too
You can use an auto portable heater with the outlet and sleep in the back.
that cant be safe
@@oliver4154 with the technology now, there are heaters that I think it's safe to use with automatic temperature setting and auto shutoff if it's tip over.
Next time sit on the back seat behind the passenger. Then lay the driver seat all the way down and put your legs that way. Slept that way many of times
Dan sleepingin it. Of course lol
maybe a micro tent that goes over a open back door and extends the floor one foot?
good god enough with the cybertruck content
i LOVE THIS CYBERTRUCK. I HOPE THAT I CAN BUY IT IN ITALY
I'm 5' 7" and yea I could curl up. Disappointed the vault (bed) wasn't able to have hvac or window roll down. I was really hoping for a mid-gate that folded down but for the payload capacity I can see why not. I don't really want to tent camp and a popup / normal camper would be ok. Takes away from having camp mode. But for a short nap/stay it works great. I camped in my old Model 3 and for me was not bad. I could sit up and lay sideways without hips bumping the inside lip of trunk but had to be careful. Model Y I have now is even more comfy. Sad the Cybertruck would be a downgrade and I'd have to trade in the Y
Same thoughts
Exactly
Very big miss by Tesla here. I love my Model 3 because I can take it on longgg roadtrips and also sleep in it anytime I want. Drawbacks of the M3 is that I can't get to a lot of offroad places, and THAT is what I wanted a CT for!!! Idk what my next move is but I'm more so considering a Model S now.
Get the 5 seat Model X.
thats a sexy green, makes the cool design even cooler
beautiful truck
Rear window that opens may be a future feature, but tonneau is danger.
Now that there so many videos showing that the truck really isn't that big overall. Starting to think that maybe it was a mistake to reduce the size of it from the prototype dimensions. In fact, I think it should have been 6 to 8 inches longer to make room for a folding mid-gate.
Agreed
There has to be a way to remove the partition between the bed and the cabin. That way you get all that space for beds and camper accessories. Also why have a glass roof? Those could have been a normal roof and then outfitted with solar panels which I assume would be handy for a fully electric vehicle.
That is a big letdown, was really hoping it would be the ultimate camper..
What we need is an affordable Chevy avalanche EV we sleep in ours all the time
The cab should lower to have full enclosed opening and create a chair that folds into back, I can’t believe it only used around 10% of energy to keep it heated through the night.
no test using the front seats reclined all the way? Seems like that would be a better option.
can't
another option is to tilt the passenger seat back forward and maybe put your legs up there.
If only that roofline extended back horizontally and this thing was an SUV! I have a day 2 order but am seriously thinking of not following through. Camping in the bed was something I was really looking forward to, but with no mid-gate it's pointless. 6'4" so forget that interior position. Argh.
I am 6’3 so this is definitely a pass for me to sleep in the CT
A rear window slider would be a great solution!
Not really a Tesla guy but the cyber truck is cool!
Only truck that you can sleep in comfortably for 2 adults is the Chevy Avalanche. The mid section can be folded down so you can carry longer loads of cargo too. No need to get out of the truck and into the back. It's the ultimate truck.
the middle wall not folding is a bummer, it should fold flat, with that cover i think it would make a bigger room for sleeping + AC
I think that because all the heat or AC would leak out the sides of the vault cover that they figured it wasn't worth it.
The rear window needs to be removable like it is on the Chevy Avalanche. and uh, no I can't cap in there. You can put an electric heater in the vault though.
I want one now!
How tall are you?
@@smvballer6 5 feet 2 inches

What about sleeping in the truck bed? Cover slightly open (camping purposes)
Dang, I was under the impression they did heat/cool the vault. That’s for the next version in a few years I guess.
How far do the front seats move up? Were they moved up all the way and do they tilt forward?
I moved them up a little bit they could go more and tilt for sure.
I am interested in seeing the new Chevrolet Silverado EV which the bed opens into the cabin.
Should have just gone to Walmart and picked up a $15 space heater to sleep in the bed. Only question is how air tight is the bed. Is it safe to be in there all night. I will probably replace the back window with something with a slider or cut a hole into force air from the back seat aircon into the bed. Hoping a space heater is enough, but this is plan B.
Let's see the bunker !!
I’m more worried about the headlights situation when it snow, will snow and ice build up and cover the lights? Can’t get out every time for and brush it off for visibility
Hi love your vids 😍🙀😘
throw a space heater in the back. It has the power outlets there so why not.
Good vid
I would have used the backseats -they're heated. Also, some minimal preparation surely helps, dude.

dream car
Can the back window go down? It'd be cool if you could sleep in the bed and still have heat from the cab.
This shows how trucks are not the most efficient. I could sleep in our 2000 celiac which is about half the size of
Since you will be stuck in the middle of no where all the time with this thing-learning how to sleep in it is the most important thing for you to know
I was really hoping they would find a way to connect the cabin and the bed of the truck. I am sure they tried, which makes me curious as to why they couldn't. Was it a cost or design limitation?
Remember not to put his feet on OF! 😂😂
It was on 88% when at 01:30 when you went to sleep so it used no energy all night
@5:00 it's not the camera it's the proximity to salt lake city. One of the many reasons I live in the "sticks"
Oh good you have a blanket
I just had a thought. With the 60/40 folding seats, would it be more comfortable to use the 60 portion and let your legs dangle a bit? I won’t be able to test until I get mine in about a month.
While the car looks absolutely stellar, I'm disappointed on sleeping in there. 7:20 I've never gotten jolted from almost falling asleep like this before 😂😂
What camera are you using? Low light performance is great.
There needs to be a van version of this vehicle with a rear swingarm that'll hold a spar tire and a gas powered range extender. Someone needs to make something like that.
How far do the seats let back? Seems like laying the seats all the way back would be a better option
