RAW POV SURFING 1' Deep REEF! - Perfection

2023 ж. 4 Жел.
131 412 Рет қаралды

On a distant shore, there lies a reef break that is so perfect, but so sketchy because of how close to dry reef it breaks. Coral heads boiling up along the wave, with water so clear it feels like it's not even there, and it dead ends into dry reef at the end. Anytime you fell and ended up in the whitewater, you would hit bottom and get cut up. The wave is flawless though, so wipeouts were minimal, and surfing it was One of the most surreal experiences of my life, with just a handful of us out!
Thanks to @TeamONeill & @Surfline for the invite on this "Maps to Nowhere" trip! Watch the full feature here --- • Maps to Nowhere Episod...

"RAW POV Sessions" is a Playlist where I go back and upload all the raw footage from a session/day. No frills, just straight footage... wipeouts, makes, walking, talking, whatever I film with my GoPro.

  • This reminds me of surfing in Fiji, and also in the Exuma keys of the Bahamas. Many days in the Bahamas the lighting was at just the right angle so that you actually could not see where the wave was while you were up and riding- Crazy crazy crazy situation- I am sure you know what I am describing. Its so weird but sometimes you can not see the wave you are on!

    • Same here bud. Lived off Sea Isle Hill Dr for 4 years and then Runboat in Frisco for 3 years. As a little kid I grew up between Virginia Beach and Kitty hawk and Manteo And much of my family still live in those areas down there today. But I now live in VB but still have my family home down in the OBX and spend quite a bit of time each year down there. I always miss it when I'm gone. We just need them to open up a FedEx ground or UPS route down there and I'm coming back baby🤣🙏 Merry Christmas to you brother And they you and your family have great health, plenty of happiness and prosperity coming into the new year.🤙

  • Brett you're crazy guy. I mean that in a good way. So I was wearing polarized surfing sunglasses. And a similar thing happen on a very clear day the water almost disappeared. Did you use a polarized filter? This was a wonderful feeling and it was shallow that day too. not crazy like you though. Incredible I recommend the glasses. Except I actually could not see where the wave was. I had to throw spray to figure out where the bottom was.
