Beginner Wood Turning Projects - SCRAP WOOD BOWLS

Beginner woodturning bowls that sell very fast at craft shows and farmers markets. These scrap wood bowls have been a great seller for me the last 2 christmas seasons. Even the most begineer, entry level woodturner can make this style of bowl in 20 minutes or less. In this woodturning video I show each of the steps. Most beginner woodturners don't have a chuck, so I made sure to only use a faceplate and hot glue for this easy and fast woodturning project.
Who am I? I am a husband and father. I've spent my life supporting my family with my bare hands as a proud tradesman. I have worked as an electrician most of my life in plants or the oilfield. I have recently turned my hobby into a career and work full time for a custom woodworking shop while still presuing my dream to one day support my family with my own custom woodworking shop. This is me, taking my shot, from my tiny shed shop in east Texas. I'm using my two hands to build a foundation for my family. By purchasing from my store you're not just buying a unique, handcrafted item, you're supporting a craftsman. I'm chasing my dream of creating a self-supporting small business. Your support is making it possible. Thank you!

Woodturning and resin turning are incredibly fun hobbies to get into. As you can see by this video you can definitely get very creative. If it is softer than metal and dry you can most likely cast it in resin and turn it on a wood lathe. If you would like help selecting a wood lathe and the woodturning tools needed to get started wood turning or resin turning please feel free to email me at Bradsworkbench333@gmail.com

  • Looks Great Jim's wood shop.

  • I made some like this, drilled 3 or 4 holes in the underside and glued in neodymium magnets and they make superb pin bowls for sewers. The pins stay in the bowl but are easy to pick up when you need one

  • You’re a tall guy. You should raise your lathe. Put it on blocks so that the spindle center is about the same height as your elbow. Be a bit more comfortable.

  • Ride the bevel with your carbide tools and roll them over just like traditional tools and there will be no tearout.

  • I hate carbide tools for shaping products. New turners should learn to use the proper tools right away instead of learning to scarpe the forms of their products.
