How I Installed my Roof Vent, Skylight & Ceiling in my Cargo Van Tiny Home
In this video, I show an in depth explanation of how I installed my roof vent, skylight, lighting, insulation, and ceiling panels for my cargo van to tiny home conversion. I go through the process in three easy steps. The first step is to cut holes in the roof and install the roof vent and skylight. I like to do this first because it makes it easier to build around these features later on in the process. This step also includes running wires for the lights, fan, and solar panel.
The second step is to frame and insulate the ceiling. I chose to use polyiso foam board insulation for this step. I like using it because it is lightweight, easy to cut, and fairly inexpensive.
The third and final step is to install the ceiling panels. I chose to use pre stained and sealed wall panels for this, but you can really use anything for this step. I used my brad nailer to hold the ceiling up in place to the framing that I put in earlier and will be finishing the ceiling with structural trim pieces later on in my build.

Recently found your channel & binged watched it like a Netflix show. The jump in overall quality is amazing to say the least. Keep it up ✊🏾
Lol this is me right now
If you want to maintain that vapor barrier, this is a must… With your foil tape, you want to press it down… Use a roller or rounded over and smoothed scrap of wood.
Nice install, a few things I've done when cutting a hole in the roof, tape a trash bad or a box to the roof on the inside and it's catch all the small pieces of metal that can get inside you van and cause rust. Give Dicor 501LSW-1 Self-Leveling Lap Sealant on top of the fan, it works great.
I love your work!!! Keep it up❤️🔥
Nice work. Jeeze....love the music. I'd be hard-pressed to seek it out on the dial, but man, I could listen to your videos all day! Have an awesome day and stay safe out there!
Ça a l'air tellement facile quand on te regarde travailler avec la petite musique d'ambiance qui détend , j'en ai aménagé un y a pas longtemps c'était pas la même musique . Vidéo agréable à regarder 👍
I so enjoy your channel.. so smooth and soothing ☺️☺️👍
Loving the content. Miss seeing your builds brother. :-) Whoa
You are amazing. How did you learn all this. I am so sorry you dad past. I wish I could give you a huge.
I dont think the vapor barrier debate will ever be settled. Some say it only traps moisture, some say it's necessary to prevent moisture from getting in. Also, sick moving timelapses. What do you use to accomplish those?
I agree with you. Seems like no matter what I do with insulation I’m always wrong lol my moving time lapses are filmed with my Insta360 camera. Takes a while to edit but the clips look amazing
@@Dualex_Builds hey bud. Where can I view that gutted series. I'm having a hard time finding it
self adhesive bitumen stuck to the metal panel will stop moisture being near the metal work. then a moisturiser barrier will db up on that. that’s and treating any cuts you make in the metal with red oxide primer and a top coat will give any van build e longevity. I love these builds.
Always you did a great job on your van! Can't wait for the finish product. 👍
Your work is fantastic.
Good work. I would be so nervous cutting those roof openings. I would probably check my measurements a zillion times !
Great Video Amazing job as always.
Wow! That is really bright with just 4 lights
I can’t wait until I can buy one of your van’s 🚐

@@Dualex5 FO Maggot.
Excellent work 🎉 what's the link to the skylight? And now is it holding up as far as any cracks?
Top Notch!

You may have learned some new skills through Skillshare , but you obviously have some great mechanical and technical skills as your work is awesome.
Hey dude in your next build, could you go for another theme. You always tend to make the same industrial, steam punk design. It would be nice to see some change, and how flexible your design skills are.
You're so cool
Hi love your work, do you do van conversion as a business, I've purchased 2021 promaster city and want a camper built out? 🙂
You are so talented. I have subscribed! Maybe one day as time permits you can offer how to videos for the clueless like myself. I'd be ALL in. I would also love your support. Hope to see you in my comments soon. Much Love, Coe
i’ve been saving up and have a couple thousand to get a van, any tips on best ways and websites to find a good used van on the cheaper side?
🔥
Consider using rubber washer to permanently water proof and possibly use a bicycle innerrube for material to make a complete rubber gasket for the entire metal and possibly folded c shape for inner and outer double rubber no leak permanent seal plus no sharp edge trim excess after
i like your channel bro you like my inspiration to build a mini van like grand max car.
@@Dualex5 really can I
Hi I never saw grommets during the solar ? Instead of scrapping the ceiling I would have got 4 way stretch because wood is cold.coming along.
Would so love it if you could turn an rv into a tiny home for me
I need to get the lining in my chevy city express mini cargo van replaced, where can I get this service at?? Ive tried so many different key word searches without having any luck!!
💛💛💛
Do you sell the vans that are finished? I'm interested in buying one.
I hope you take this build out on a few excursions before you sell it.
mm yes very cool i think
j do you ever plan on doing customization for private customers?
What's the name of that dewalt tool that you used for cutting the holes?
Can you do more linear follow of projects, like your older videos
This feels detached :(
Where’s an update on the rv?
Do you have product links?
Which skylight did you install?
🙏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾
Why did you not smooth down the sides of the silicone so the installation wouldn’t look so unsightly? At those bumps and whorls are going to collect dust and dirt and be hard to clean, besides! Said in love and admiration!
Choose a cloudy ass day to do it
I cant find the link to the skylight vent. Anyone know?
Can you build a an for me? Please
Early
Are you taken? 😂😳
Everyone wants him. lol
9:21 you have a center point and a hole cutter... wtf is with the bloody compass, mate? bwahahahah
You still never showed how you wired the side cameras in one of your last videos.
Only disliking because you are taking your sweet as time uploading
Cringed when you climbed through that nasty sharp edge. Is that a rusty roof?
You’re cute. Do you have a gf? if so, does she know how to fight?
Great work, and please check your email (6/11). I sent you an inquiry about a van conversion.
