With around 125,000 units sold in 2023, the latest generation #ToyotaTundra has been a huge hit for #Toyota ever since this generation came out in 2022. The #TundraPlatinum trim is most of the luxury and technology that high-end truck buyers are looking for, without the excessive chrome that you might find on the 1794 or Capstone. This new #TundraHybrid is only one of the few choices out there if you want an electrified full-size truck with an appealing blend of technology, luxury, capability, and build quality.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! The latest Tundra has been a huge hit for Toyota sales wise, and this is our first time reviewing the Platinum trim on the channel and it comfortably sits between the Limited and Capstone trim and its also at the same level as the 1794 trim, but without the extra chrome and brown interior. Which Tundra trim level do you find the most appealing for yourself? Let us know below!
lol @ huge hit when other channels with a release date same as this vid has tundra's rotting on the lots with 8k off msrp.

Iuuuik😊
Finally a work truck that can haul my starbucks
🤣
Most of us can't afford new trucks anymore
Whose problem is that, you don't need to buy the Platinum or the Limited.
😭😭
Then why are you here complaining about what you can't afford? 💀💀🤣🤣
So get an SR5
That's because people want them bigger than ever and more stuff on them than ever versus a basic truck
The platinum has been my favorite trim since it came out.
Yeah along with the 1794 edition, especially that smoked mesquite brown color along with the powered running boards and bed step
I wax & wane w/ that smoked mesquite color. I do think the Platinum w/ offroad package, and maybe the factory lift in either Lunar Rock or MGM would be my choice.
Just traded in my Sierra Denali for the 1794 trim. Love this truck. Fast, luxury and can tow way more than my denali
I hope these turbo and hybrid vehicles form Toyota will be just as reliable as their older vehicles, and engines, and their older technology.
There is no way the turbos will last the life of the car. The top of the engine is a mess with the intercooler, tons of piping and three radiators. There is tons of plastic.
Love that truck so much. Great video as always.
Absolutely gorgeous truck. But $72k is just insane. Only wealthy people or people willing to bury themselves in 8%+ interest debt can buy new cars now.
The price is outrageous for sure. But every other half ton truck with this equipment level is also $75-80k 😢
True, but the markup on domestic trucks are even worse. Look at any Raptor. It's not a truck, but my local Ford dealer wants 109k for the Raptor Bronco. It's been sitting on the lot for 6 months.
Competitors has no better prices
@@weirdshibainulet it sit for a year
@@weirdshibainuIf it sits too long, don't buy it. The gas will breakdown and cause damage. And I know for a fact the dealerships are not draining the fluids.

Love the new tundra. 🔥
Excellent review as per usual❤
Love that Toyota has that horizontal row of buttons under the screen in my LS500 as well! No substitute for the instant effect of buttons/switches (aviator here😉)👍🏻
Excellent video❤
Just got mine and love it!
Funny how Toyota gave it a 32 gallon tank and a range of over 600 miles. Pretty much a shot over the bow of E.V. trucks. Smart.
It takes 5mns to fill up, electric truck takes hours to fully charge
@@wjoseph-rx9mjTrue. But my point is that even all that aside, that's a huge range for a standard 1/2 truck.
And that's even less than they used to have I think. I think they were 36 before. But yeah largest fuel tank in anything you're going to find on the road today that's not a heavy duty. Which is a shame because it's not just the cost of the fuel itself but the cost of your time refueling.
@@TheKingOfInappropriateCommentsford has a 36 gallon tank standard now, so this is incorrect unfortunately
The government has forced EVs down people's throat so the technology of hybrids kind of have been not as explored as it should have been. But when you see trucks and stuff like this, it's amazing to think if we had taken that same energy we put into these EVs that no one can afford how much further we would be with hybrid technology
Great review! Keep them going. Been watching you for over 6 years. Side note, the reason why the other trucks don't copy the full roll down rear window is Toyota has some very strong patents on the mechanicals to the point others have yet to be able to circumvent the patent rights. Bad for the rest of the market but great for Toyota. Since I own a new Tundra...Hell yea!
I love mine. The roll down rear window is awesome to vent my farts and the dog farts quickly out of the cab.
“Wider American frame” 💀 I’m dead 15:55
You have the gift to talk and rattle stuff off. God bless your wife for being willing to live in your world.
Thanks for all your hard work!! My favorite car review channel, you are always very thorough and detailed! Definitely top notch 👍
I really do enjoy your reviews. Toyota was the last of the bunch to hold off creating a truck with more bells and whistles than anyone really needs. And everyone complained how they're behind the competition. Now they rebuilt the Tundra from the ground up and listened to the people that were crying. Now the same people are crying about the price. I cringed when you said Toyota should get in the tailgate war now (not your exact words). Add another $2K....When does it end?
I have the 2023 platinum hybrid with 4 x4 that I purchased in November 2022 At 25,000 miles it is very reliable and gets around 20 mpg in town I paid a $ 2,000 premium over the $70,000 sticker due to availability. Some dealers were getting $6-8,000 over msrp Currently supply has caught up with demand and you can get a Capstone for $77,000 Still cheaper and better quality than the Ford F150 king ranch that I used to own.
I just got mine for 6k off because it was in a lot full of nothing but tundras.
This is my favorite trim. I bought the 24 SR5 and now having buyers remorse. I'm used to my heated steering wheel and seats, and as such will be saving up to go trade up to the Platinum trim.
What do you need to upgrade trims for?
Already upgraded to a 1794 iforce max. Absolutely love it.
I love the color & this truck will be my daily.
Absolutely love these trucks, also!

Would love to know the difference of MPG with a Bed cover vs no bed cover. I have a 2018 with a hard bed cover and have gotten 19mpg on long highway trips running Michelin Defender LTX.
The v8 5.7 tundra in my opinion is by far the best . I just hit 90k / miles on my 2015 1794 edition tundra.
I laugh every time I see a new truck on the road. I can’t imagine how much their monthly payment is while driving my 21 Ridgeline( just paid off) 😂 Do u really need that huge gas guzzler truck to just haul a few times a year at best 😂

@@spursdynasty7378 No argument here. My father never financed a car in his lifetime and tried to teach me that if I could not pay cash then the car was too expensive for me. He invested all his extra money and died a multimillionare. I financed a new car at 25 for maybe three years. Paid cash or at least 75% down for a while and then all cash past 45. Folks streched to the limit at 8% interest over 7 years are just setting themselves up to work until they die. I retired at 60 with 5 cars and looking to pick up a 24 Platinum Tundra if the prices soften a little. Wanted a 21 with the 5.7 liter but their close the original MSRP (52-53K) after 3 years and 30K miles. Never seen mass produced vehicle hold value like the Tundras - of course Honda is good as well.
I think you missed the rear step, and how it makes the full tailgate as useful as some of the domestic models...
Thoughts on comparison to the Ford v6 platinum and longevity?
I was seriously considering the '24 Tundra but you look tiny next to it and were roughly the same size so...
How about reliability of this first edition model?
Whew! That grille is beautiful but rest assured will be pain to clean properly.
Hey Toyota-You'd sell a lot more Capstones if you offered another color option on the interior. The black and white is atrocious.
Gets dirty easy, too.
@@kalashnikov1343 Yep. No winners with that interior
The newly added only for 2024 limited edition tundra called the 1794 limited edition (limited to 1500 units, though it should have been 1,794, but likely due to shortages, they couldn't do 294 more 😢), even that is a better buy than the capstone
All the chrome is atrocious.... along with the wheels
I am looking for something similar that Toyota evidently doesn't make. 24 Tundra Platinum, TRD off road (non-hybrid), 6.5 ft bed, lunar rock, power running boards and tonneau cover. Am I the only one in America that wants a truck with these options?
$72K is just wild. I can only assume this isn't a fully loaded top trim either. This is WAY TOO MUCH TRUCK for ~90% of people. Be real with yourselves. The weekend warriors (and only a few weekends in the spring/summer per YEAR let's be honest) just need a Ridgeline.
Is supply chain still an issue??? Seems like even with orders, this truck cannot be shipped over to Hawaii...
the best grill
What🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg it's absolutely hideous AF
Agreed that the Sequoia grille looks better.
For those that continue to complain, smaller displacement turbo charged engines are replacing larger naturally aspirated engines due solely to U.S. Government EPA regulations that now levy repeated hefty multimillion dollar fines against manufacturers for not meeting the new emissions standards. Yes, GM still offers 2 different v8s but they incorporate cylinder deactivation technology to meet the EPA regulations, but as these regulations continue to reduce the allowable emissions even these engines will inevitably be replaced with smaller turbo charged engines. You don’t have to like it, most don’t, but your chance to do something about it was at the ballot box and engaging your elected officials before these regulations rolled out. The manufacturers aren’t saints but they must deliver for their shareholders and continuing to pay fines to the government will eventually hurt the bottom line and they have calculated that these regulations are not going away nor will they be relaxed so these power plants are their solution to that problem.
Despite what silliness Naveen spews out, the Tundra is the benchmark. 👍
Benchmark of what? It literally doesn't have a single class-exclusive outside of a rear sliding window. Its just as thirsty as the Big 3 V8s, has a smaller cab, part-time 4WD(in 2024!??), heck doesn't even have the safety ratings of the Ram and Ford.
@gerry9306 The Toyota Tundra is the "benchmark" of mediocrity. 🤣

We better enjoy this truck because it’ll be until 2040 when Toyota finally unveils a new version and who knows what the car market will be like then.
Fun fact the Hummer Ev also has a sliding rear window

My dad bought a fully loaded Tundra Limited 4x4 V8 long bed in 2009 and it was around $40k (which has nearly 300k miles on it and still gets driven daily). While this truck is substantially better equipped and has a lot more modern features/conveniences/creature comforts, a 50%+ price jump is 15 years seems unreasonable.
If you account for inflation, that 40k in 2009 is almost 60k in today's money.

I don't understand the push for a hybrid drive for these Toyota trucks, the tiny battery back (hybrid cars have a bigger pack). If it's for torque, for what? A few minutes of torque? What about towing, I'd assume the gasoline only engine lasts much longer.
Off the hop to make up for turbo lag
Someone said if the passenger side turbo fails on these you have to take the body off the frame to replace it
Yes, that is true and it’s easier to access since it was purposefully designed that way.
@@mikehughes8023 does that mean it wouldn't be overly expensive to have changed out? It just sounds time consuming to remove the truck from the frame to change the Turbo FYI I'm no mechanic just trying to understand thanks
You act as though any of those packages are going to be available in any great numbers. Things like the larger beds, the black out package and so on, forget it. You'll be lucky to find something like that in a Platinum trim , more than 3 units in a 1000 miles and the dealers that have it are going to smell that you know it's the only one around and you will pay dearly for it.
If u guys get some ND filters in front of that camera the headlights wont flicker
Limited is the best deal over all with black out TRD package and sun roof wind ship pearl headed seats locking rear diff skip plate and rear step spray on bed 67 out the door
How much is this?!!!!!!
You mentioned that the truck is 3 Americans wide. But how many Americans long ad tall is it? Asking for a friend.
Is it just me or are more and more NEW vehicles getting more complex with electric madness inside

Hope you have a 2024 Nissan Titan. Still a good option even though discontinued after this year.
It’s like a fancy 1911 that you keep in the safe. people just wanna show off and have the money to blow
Other brands don’t have the full sliding down rear window cause Toyota has the patent on it.

2021 tundra platinum cost 52k new and now it costs over 70k😢
This truck looks better on these videos than it does in person particularly the interior the interior when you actually sit in it is cheaper looking and feeling than what you get here. It also looks like two different design teams worked on it and then never spoke to each other there’s no continuity and there’s too many different Surfaces and colors etc. with the hybrid max you lose storage under the seat in the rear which is something I always use in my current truck. Plus, the legroom is nowhere near the Ram.
Legroom is only a few inches more than the Ram. The same goes for the headroom, though the tundra has the worst 2nd row headroom when it comes to implementing a panoramic sunroof. Thats likely why the Sierra and Silverado don't offer panoramic sunroofs due to what happened on the tundra (though all GM full size SUVs offer a panoramic roof)
Yeah was at the auto show on Friday and it felt so cheap inside. Visually looked good tho. The front grille is cheap plastic too. The lightest piece of road debris would destroy that grille.
@@Krysco51 it’s a mess and we like Toyotas in our family but I’m not switching my Ram for the tundra at this point there’s no compelling case to be made. The Sequoia is also a huge miss and a real disappointment.
@@normanli7085I'm 6'2, no issues sitting in any seat in the rear with a panoramic roof. Only slightly less than a Silverado rear headroom. Which Silverado gives you that cheesy box cutout headroom in the back.
At about 11:30 into the video, the instrument cluster is showing a full tank of gasoline and a range of “402 miles.” How are you getting 600 miles on a full tank? Please respond/explain
Looking at his current average of 14 MPG that's about right. Could be a lot of sitting and idling or city driving or heavy on the gas. Per Edmunds site at 32 gal tank range should be 579.6/740.6 mi if 18-23 MPG from non-hybrid (20mpg combined). From what I have read not many are getting those numbers often. A family member has a nonhybrid averaging around 18 or so. The hybrid form Edmunds says 22 MPG (combined) should be average but doubt that also (20-24 city/highway). This hybrid is more for towing power and not to improve MPG as much as a regular hybrid car performs. From what I understand this is still a big improvement from the old V8 MPG but still pretty low.
Seriously, platinum edition and it's missing heads up display? Wow
They still having turbo issues?
Rather than all those add-ons/up-charges, just get a TRD Pro.
I always find it amusing that my $30,000 Ford Maverick truck has just about the same payload capacity of these full-size trucks.
Payload and towing is also determined by GVWR and therefore when you have the extra batteries from a hybrid powertrain, it lowers the capability of the truck.
Yet I find it funny your maverick can't tow.
Weird Flex. I find it amusing that only Midgets can comfortably drive that wimpy car.
15:55........Merica!
Hmmm I don’t think I have ever seen a tundra platinum for 71k. Closer to 76 to 80.
S is not sport mode, it is called sequential.
Great review. That electric motor should be twice that size at least! WTF, why is Toyota holding back. The performance numbers should be way better than this. 2020 called, they want their powertrain back! Outdated BS.
When you mentioned a 1/2 ton truck that doesn't have an American badge , you may want to look at the Window Sticker where it says Built in San Antonio , Texas unlike other rivals which have plants in Mexico. I would rather have my truck made in Texas than out of the country in Mexico. I've been working on cars/trucks for 40 yrs. & what may have been true in the past w/ Toyota is not true in the last 20+ yrs.

I tend to disagree. I think the 2024 Tundra Limited TRD 4x4 non hybrid is the best sweet spot. Unless you're towing an extremely heavy load, no need for the extra 600lbs of weight in your truck. I think the non hybrid turbo is better overall than the hybrid. Plus the limited has everything you need. Why pay for extra stuff (like TRD PRO) when 99% of people wont even use it.

Not having a 4wd high is a deal killer in the northeast. Odd decision from Toyota
Not sure why people. One to channels like this and complain about the price of these vehicles especially when they have no use for a truck, people use trucks for work or hauling things just because most of you can’t afford it doesn’t mean there aren’t people who will like this truck and buy it for those reasons, y’all need to stop telling other people what they should do with their own money just because you’re broke.
I heard that the Hybrid on the Tundra is a joke, not much of a gas savings. Other than that, the Tundra is a beautiful truck!
That’s intentional my friend they designed it for extra power not extra mileage. The power increase was the main goal secondary was a little bit better mileage this has been stated everywhere I’m surprised you haven’t read that.
