  • Her father is a brave and good man. He is a dreamer. He risked it all to give his family a life of freedom, even though he went through the brainwashing himself. He saw through it. And now his daughter’s life (and all his future generations) are forever changed for the better. I’m so happy for them. Good job, Dad!

  • I grew up in vietnam and I also have to wear red ties when going to school, we had school guards, either teachers or other students that checked if the students wore red ties or not. If not, I could get "conduct" deducting points and do trivial jobs like sweeping etc. Almost all public schools in Vietnam had to hang the Ho Chi Minh picture in the class, so I sympathize with Hyun Kyung a lot. But I think she made a mistake in this video, Vietnam has no land borders with Thailand, so it maybe Laos instead.

They make a fake passport and smuggle into Thailand from China and they go straight to the korean embassy in Thailand. Since Thailand isn't a socialist country they are allowed to enter and apply for refugee. Then, the South Korean embassy accepts all north korean defectors to enter South Korea. Yes Vietnam has no border with Thailand, but since Vietnam is also a socialist country, they definately ban north korean defectors.

  • How they find a broker? Why they spend 28 days in Thailand? What transportation they used to get to SK? Since they have restrictions, do they also have people who meddle in other peoples lives?

    • South Korean government sends out an airplane, which is not the cheapest method of course, so they wait until x number of defectors come and bring them all in together. + They have to go through the legal system (Which is why they spend x days in Thailand)

    • Because, in thailand they can send north korea to South Korea, but if you get caught in China, Chinese government send them back to Norht Korea. So only way they can go to south Korea is to go to Thailand or Laos. To find a broker, they need to know someone from china who does broker, but one bad thing about broker from china is they can sell these north Korea women to Chinese man, so they have to escape from Chinese family after being sold. It is hard to find a broker but some of these broker are scam, they take money and does not do their job properly.

  • Foreigners may not know well, but the South Korean and North Korean governments are incompatible, but there is no reason for Koreans and North Koreans to hate each other and fight. Can they be close? That's a stupid question. South Korea and North Korea were one country and one people. It is not a question of whether we can get close, but a correct greeting is to stay healthy and well until we are unified.
