Is the Toyota Land Cruiser V8 really the ultimate SUV? REVIEW

2024 ж. 14 Мам.
2 407 788 Рет қаралды

Mat's got his hands on the V8-powered Toyota Land Cruiser! It's one of the biggest SUVs on the road, and it dwarfs the Prado edition we receive in the UK! On the surface, it may seem almost identical to the 2009 edition, but given it's got a 5.7-litre V8 under the bonnet that'll produce 381hp and almost 550Nm of torque, does it really matter? Well, it certainly might when you consider it costs $85,000! Join Mat for a closer look at this super-sized SUV!

    • Stormwatch153 Would you clarify, please? Anyway, to elaborate, for $75K, you get an Alexa-like infotainment system, hybrid system, smoother ride to be more all terrain, and better accleration and handling, because the batteries are in the rear creating a more balanced weight distribution. All those things Toyota does not have. I can have more fun driving the GLS and in a couple of years spend the savings on fixing those things, though hybrids are supposed to be more reliable than an ICE-only car.

But to be honest here in Australia I believe people buy these vehicles blindly due to brand name only because as far as I'm concerned the LandCruiser, Prado and Hilux have one of the ugliest plastic interiors when compared to other manufacturers.

    • Yep. A land cruiser is not for people that test the cushiness of the inside of the sun visor tray. That's a gimmick. That thing needs to drive to puddles of salt water and not fall to pieces 2 years later. That thing must be able to be roughly pulled out some place it might got stuck without tearing the frame to shit. This thing must be able to fall on some rocks to the underbody without it sacking through this axels or have fluids leaking. This thing must be able to stand idle in the scorching sun for 4 hours straight without overheating. It must start in one go after its big ass engine sat still for 2 months on the north pole.

      @henrybrar@henrybrar4 жыл бұрын
    • Harbir Brar But $85K is still too much, though. A more economical buy would be a Dodge Durango RT with a 5.7L HEMI engine. It may not be as luxurious as an MB GLS 450 but it would be $20K to $30K less than the Land Cruiser. Also, the HEMI engine seems simpler than the LC’s because the HEMI only has a SOHC while this one has DOHC. So, maybe the Dodge can last longer than the Toyota, even.
