  • I was born and raised LDS. I began to question many things which led me to the Bible. As I truly started studying the Bible I realized how many verses contradict the Book of Mormon and the fundamental beliefs of the LDS church. I am now a born again believer by the grace of God! These conversations are so important and I pray for my family/ friends who are still in the LDS faith.

I served a Mission, as Elders Quorum President, counselor to a Bishop, then as a Bishop, Stake High counselor, served as an ordinance worker in the Temple, and many other callings with the young men and scouting as my sons grew to adulthood. My 3 sons have all served missions and are now active LDS and Temple married. My story is too long to tell, just need to say that my experience to the real Jesus Christ was the MOST PAINFUL thing of my life, and the most amazing and fulfilling!!! This video has helped me. • The Book of Mormon is true, and another witness of the same gospel of Jesus Christ as the Bible. Joseph Smith was a true prophet who worshipped Jesus Christ. The church was infiltrated by wicked men. When Joseph Smith was murdered, Brigham Young usurped control of the church and led some of the saints to SLC, Utah (many refused to follow him). Brigham Young introduced many false doctrines into that denomination including polygamy, men becoming Gods, Adam God, blood atonement of men, penal oath temple rituals, a Heavenly Mother, Lucifer being Jesus' brother, incorrect definition of Christ’s church, etc. None of that is in the Book of Mormon or teachings of Joseph Smith, but Brigham Young and the wicked leaders under and after him have pretended that it came from Joseph Smith in order to gain acceptance for their own evil and lustful desires. The LDS church of today is Brigham Young's denomination and is apostate from the teachings of the church under Joseph Smith.

  • Everything you said about Jesus, and even the central focus you had around HIM in the conversation, was beautiful. I left the LDS church because Joseph Smith was put in esteem right up there with God.. and sometimes it appeared based on LDS ideology that he, Joseph Smith, was even more significant than God. I also remember thinking, we’ll all other Christianity is wrong because they belief Jesus IS God. Now.. I GET IT! The Bible prophecies of “Emmanuel” which translates to “God with us”. Jesus IS our God in the flesh. His grace is sufficient because he offers it to us, not because we choose to receive it. As an LDS member I believed that I had to keep running on this hamster wheel to perfection, and even sometimes when repenting there was a time-frame, mediated by a male leader, on when my forgiveness would be given. NOW as an ex-Mormon, I believe that Christ has provided me with grace the whole time, not on any of my own account…. And THAT belief in HIS grace, His unconditional love then leads me to manifest that love in my daily actions. I am saved. I am forgiven. I am imperfect but I am enough for him and because he sees my worthiness of that precious gift I want so badly to share that light and love through my words, actions and it’s difficult because I’m still in the process of deconstructing the mentality of working my way toward worthiness and healing from a sense of betrayal. Because of Christ, I am worthy and will always be worthy! I love him so much and I am grateful for his example of pure love and acceptance he offers everyone, even those who are misled, indoctrinated like I was. I too, at one point, believed my prayer confirmed the truth of the Book of Mormon. Now I know, my desire for it to be true was misleading me. Reading the truth of church history, multiple revised accounts of Joseph Smith’s first vision…. Actually facing the truth, confirmed to me that my “spiritual witness” was false. The LDS church is not true despite serving a mission, testifying of that for 18 months…. Because how can truth exist among lies and deceit. Lying by omission is still lying. But I did the best with what I knew and NOW I know differently. I am free because of Jesus, God in the flesh❤

    • Adoration and appreciation for Joseph Smith is certainly an issue. But that is a fault of men and not necessarily an issue with the church as a whole. We pray to and seek the Lords guidance and not guidance from Joseph Smith. Can we not be forgiven for that if some of us are off the mark? It is very seductive to a person that has taken into consideration all of scripture in relation to how men and women are to be in the world. The church has high demands because we don't believe all we have to do is believe and then we get grace and are saved. We look at all the teachings and the summary of all that is there is more for us to do not to be saved or to save ourselves but because we are asked to do these things. I feel for many Latter-day Saints in high pressure cultures that lead to frustrations and feelings of inadequacy. Church leaders do not teach or push for this. Holland spoke of what perfection means for us in the scriptures. We are always encouraged that we are loved and that we can repent when we do wrong. God is merciful and I don't think we are always as willing to be merciful and charitable towards ourselves.

    • Praise God that you kept your faith in Christ despite Joseph Smith’s deception , not many who leave the LDS church keep that faith! I wanted to ask if you could give one or two main topics to focus on that might be helpful to open an LDS member’s mind to the possibility of Joseph’s falsehood what would that be? Also, I would suggest reading Isaiah’s Vision in God’s Throne Room! Might help with seeing that God will use anyone who is repentant and willing! Isaiah 6:1-8 King James Version 6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Then secretly filming the 18 year old boys (and the old couple who gave them a ride there) to post a video showing off how he can take advantage of the young missionaries willingness to visit. They came to share basic principles thinking Preston was sincerely interested in learning from them and he tricked them. Preston prepared his whole life for this moment to argue with a couple 18 year old elders who only prepared to share the basics in this lesson. I'd like to see Preston have this discussion with a real apologist or even the fun people at Ward Radio, instead of taken advantage of some kids who just turned 18 and went on a mission. These young missionaries and the senior missionaries are not apologists. Preston Perry claimed to practice apologetics, so maybe he should talk to a Latter-day Saint apologist, not some kids straight out of high school who are volunteering to serve and share the basics of the Gospel.

However, prior to that Paul talks about how grace covers it all despite our sins. It is not the works that save you but Grace. However, if Christ is not your master do you have grace? The very Epistle people quote to talk about grace also shows us that works are an essential component of receiving that grace. It is a complicated scenario but the way I look at it, Grace saves us no matter how much sin was or might someday be in our lives and it is merely our efforts to obey God that qualify us for Grace, not the works themselves but our attitude of following the Savior. Likewise, if God has commanded us to be baptized and we are not making every effort to follow that command than are we truly his servants. Grace is there for free waiting only for us to take it by becoming Servants of God. Works, therefore, are required. Not because works get us into heaven because there is no amount of works that make us worthy or free of sin but because believing in Christ is the requirement and you cannot believe in Christ if you do not believe Him and seek to obey Him to the best of your ability. To me it is plain as day in the words of Paul and also the words of Christ Himself when he said "If ye love me keep my commandments"(John 14:15) and "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 7:21). And even if I'm wrong about what Paul meant I'd rather trust Jesus Christ himself over Paul. Especially when it is written so plainly.

My intention is to plant seeds because I recognize that talking someone out of their religion is hardly ever effective for people heavily committed- such as being in the middle of a 'mission'. I'm meeting with them again next week. Hopefully, I can help them come to understand the real Jesus and His sovereignty.

    • @jobsalido4843 The verse you note from the Gospel according to John, in its original Greek, reads: "Θεὸν οὐδεὶς ἑώρακεν πώποτε· ὁ μονογενὴς Υἱὸς ὁ ὢν εἰς τὸν κόλπον τοῦ Πατρὸς ἐκεῖνος ἐξηγήσατο." Per my own translation, this translates to "No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known." The essence of this passage is to communicate the incomprehensible and invisible nature of God the Father, who is made known to us through the Son, Jesus Christ. This is a profound mystery-that Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, as stated in Colossians 1:15. Regarding the prophecy from the Book of Alma, I want to point out that the Book of Mormon is not part of the historical canon of Christianity and is not recognized as scripture by those adhering to historical Christian orthodoxy. As such, when Alma speaks of Christ being born in "the land of Jerusalem," this reflects a divergence from the biblical account, which clearly states in Micah 5:2, in its Hebrew text: "וְאַתָּה בֵּית־לֶחֶם אֶפְרָתָה צָעִיר לִהְיוֹת בְּאַלְפֵּי יְהוּדָה מִמְּךָ לִי יֵצֵא לִהְיוֹת מוֹשֵׁל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וּמוֹצָאֹתָיו מִקֶּדֶם מִימֵי עוֹלָם." This can be translated as: "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." This prophecy, penned centuries before the birth of Christ, specifies Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Messiah, which is fulfilled in the New Testament account of Jesus's birth in the town of Bethlehem, not Jerusalem. The distinction is important, as it validates the prophecy and the historical accuracy of the Gospel accounts.

    • @normiejeanj I respond with something they say that I find contrary to Christianity ("Biblical Christianity") with a format such as "I can appreciate that, but in the OT/NT, scripture says ______, which would lead me to believe __________, and that seems to be at odds with what your Book of Mormon / D&C scripture says, so how would you reconcile that?" I usually can visibly notice them becoming uncomfortable or uncertain and they'll even look at each other like "Ummmm you wanna take this? I got nothing". I've been in discussions with missionaries since 2022. But this is the first group I've chatted with that I feel I have a chance with because I have studied scripture much more diligently the last several months - Both OT and NT, and Book of Mormon, D&C, and their Articles of Faith; as well as other... interesting.. Mormon church history. If I made the conversations a debate, I am absolutely certain that they would remove me from their little list of people they give to the new missionaries to reach out to. I attend their church, I sit in on their 'elders quorum', and have a loose relationship with several members. Not because I'm truly open minded to their church, I am not at all, not even slightly, but because being similarly educated about their beliefs as the missionaries are, but 'still seeking my testimony to Smith and the Book of Mormon', allows me to be someone that they can know has the same experiences and knowledge as they do, in most ways at least, but still sees where their belief system is fundamentally flawed and my "questioning" of these things can become their questioning of these things, which is required for anybody to convert from one belief system to another. But my goal isn't to convert them, or argue, it is to have an honest and frank discussion about Christ, and help them to understand what a real Biblical Christian believes, contrary to what their false doctrine teaches. I myself have plenty left to learn, but becoming an expert of anything requires more than studying alone; it requires real-world practice. I look at preaching at a two part actvity: First, practice(PR). Whatever message you want to share, apply this message into your own life and live according to it. Second, T(Each). Teach this message, and how it has positively affected your life. In the case of LDS members, a lot of their testimony (I see them bear testimonies one after the other once per month, and sometimes one or two during a regular church service) revolves around how following their church's doctrines and ordinances has created a feeling of fulfillment in their lives to know that Jesus Christ is their savior, that Joseph Smith was a prophet from God, that prophets live today (their church presidents), and their church is the true and restored church of Jesus Christ. It's my intention to show them by my own practice that everything beyond Christ's revelation in the NT is unnecessary, and they're following a false christ who doesn't exist and the true christ will not know them when the day of the lord comes.

How I wish someone had taken the time to show me the truth in such a kind, loving way. God bless you. I'd love to visit your church sometime, I live outside of Atlanta. The quiet one is Jr. companion who is new or "green" as they say. When you get 2 sets they know you know biblical scripture and have researched the lds church.

It's reported that the Galatians felt that Paul was being to soft on the Gentiles and not requiring them to follow many of the Jewish religious laws. This is contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Salvation is only through the grace of God. They (and we) cannot be saved by any other means nor by any other name than Jesus Christ. The Jewish law would not save them. That gospel and good news is echoed in the Book of Mormon. 2 Nephi 11 RLDS (2 Nephi 25 LDS) "Yea, behold, I say unto you, that as these things are true, and as the Lord God liveth, there is none other name given under heaven, save it be this Jesus Christ of which I have spoken, whereby man can be saved." 2 Nephi 7:42 RLDS And remember after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved. Mosiah 1:108 (3:12 LDS) But wo, wo unto him who knoweth that he rebelleth against God; for salvation cometh to none such, except it be through repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. Mosiah 1:116-118 (3:17-18) And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given, nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent. For behold, he judgeth, and his judgment is just, and the infant perisheth not, that dieth in his infancy; But men drink damnation to their own souls, except they humble themselves, and become as little children, and believe that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent:

    • @@JohnDrewDesigner What you have stated is false. Paul absolutely discussed the law in his letter to the Galatians. I could post the verses for you, but will leave you to search and find at least 25 references to the "law". Your second issue is that you pretend that just the Bible is the totality of God's scriptures, yet no verse of the Bible says that. So what I stated is only heretical to your opinion and eisegesis and false tradition of men, but not to the true gospel and doctrine of Jesus Christ. The Bible does not mention the word "Bible" nor does it pretend that God's words would be limited to just 66 scrolls of scripture. The earlier Ethiopian Christian Bible has 89 books...and that was compiled based on what was available to them 1800 years ago. Jesus Christ was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel and that certainly included the lost sheep of the 10 lost tribes of Israel scattered across the earth. They too heard His voice. Matthew 15:24 “But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. John 21:25 "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." 2Esdras 13:40-45 Those are the ten tribes, which were carried away prisoners out of their own land in the time of Osea the king, whom Salmanasar the king of Assyria led away captive, and he carried them over the waters, and so came they into another land. But they took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt, That they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land. And they entered into Euphrates by the narrow places of the river. For the most High then shewed signs for them, and held still the flood, till they were passed over. For through that country there was a great way to go, namely, of a year and a half: and the same region is called Arsareth.

As for becoming joint heirs with Christ and with God that the latter-day saints teach that is also correct and is found in Romans 8:14-17. As for being the same species as God is that was taught in Luke 3:38 and other places in scripture where Paul said we were God's offspring which is why Latter-day saints teach that we have heavenly parents and as for becoming like God and putting on his divine nature and being resurrected with the same glorious incorruptible immortal body of flesh and bones that Jesus Christ himself also has that is also correct and is Taught in 2 Peter 1:4 and in Philippians 3:21. And in Matthew Chapter 27 :52-53 all the dead saints arose from their tombs with their resurrected bodies and people saw them walking around in the streets of Jerusalem after Christ was resurrected So they were not raised up as just Spirits but had bodies of flesh and bone. 1 John also tells us that true believers teach for doctrine that Jesus is risen up in the flesh. Differences are in interpretation, and for Latter-day Saints our differences are many as a direct result of what I believe is revelation. Whether you agree or not on the origins of Satan. Where do you get your information of Satan being created? My understanding is that Satan fell from Heaven taking many followers with him. That is more accurate than he being created. After all ,Satan was there in the garden from the beginning to tempt Adam and Eve. Why do they call him "son of the morning?" Is he not a son in that sense in a similar way you and I are sons or children of God? It is hard to argue because we disagree on the origins of Satan. The Father, Son and Holy Ghost are a high council of three separate distinct beings, two of them have immortal perfected resurrected tangible bodies of flesh and bone, for if the son inherited all things from the Father then that also includes inheriting a resurected body like the Father. The third member the Holy Ghost has a spirit body, but all three of them are united as being one in unity and harmony and purpose spiritually because their wills are all swallowed up in each other. The Father and Son are eternal spirits that are embodied. Their spirits are made of uncreated self-existing eternal intelligence..Stephen saw both the Father and the Son. And that truth that they are self-existing eternal beings is taught in Eccl 3:6 which teaches that God is eternal and everything he does is also eternal.

    • I used to say the same thing for a long time. I would want to encourage you to re-consider this, because this way of thinking is called "Modalism". Water can not take all three variations at once, when it becomes ice, it stops being liquid, and when it becomes steam it stops being ice. But God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all existing at the same time, one does not stop being one, to be the other. I hope that makes sense, I say this out of love. Thank you!

    • @@vadimdushuk Because the Son inherits the resurrection from God the Father who had sent him. The Father holds the keys. There is the spirit of the Lord that radiates out from God the Father and fills the universe allowing the Father to know all things, and there is also the Holy Ghost the third member of the Godhead. who is a male spirit personage They are not the same they are two different things and this is where people get confused. The truth is the Godhead is one in unity spiritually but three separate distinct beings individually. They work together as one God, short for Godhead. They are also self-existing beings of intelligence so they have no beginning or end. Have eternal natures. So the one true God or Godhead is three distinct beings working together as one unit or team with the Father which we call the Godhead the High Council of Heaven to bring about his eternal will and purposes. The Godhead is not one single member but has three members in it. Because that oneness of spiritual unity is illustrated in the Lord's great Intercessory Prayer there's more than one member of the Godhead that is involved in this relationship. For Jesus invites all to join with him in this relationship he has with his Father so the saints can become just like he and his father are. That is the truth. They are two separate beings because Christ is the Bridegroom and his Father is the King of Heaven whom he laid out the wedding feast out for. That is the Doctrine that Christ taught to become like him and his Father. Jesus has someone else who was teaching him. "When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I do NOTHING OF MYSELF: but as my Father hath TAUGHT ME, I speak of those things. John 8:28 54. If I honor MYSELF: my honour is NOTHING. It is my Father that honoureth me, whom ye say is your God. John 8:54. Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me believeth not on me but on him who sent me. John 12:44 So someone else other than himself had sent him. And he drives this home when he says 'For I have not spoken of myself, but the Father which sent me, HE gave ME a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. )John 12:49. ME AND HE TWO SEPARATE INDIVIDUALS. Í am the true vine and my FATHER is the Husbandman.' John 15:1 But he made it clear that he keeps the commandments of another being other than himself when he said "If ye keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love just as I have kept my FATHER"S COMMANDMENTS and abide in HIS LOVE.. John 15:10 28. I came forth FROM the Father, am come into the world: again, I leave the world and GO TO THE FATHER. (John 16:28) The Father exists in a different location physically. John 20:17 what he said to Mary at the tomb about having not yet ascended back again up to God. False teaching: God can share his glory with nobody therefore man cannot become like God. The Truth "22. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given unto them, that they may be one, even as WE are one.' John :17:22. ''I in them and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one (so cannot become like God huh?) and that the world may know that THOU HAST SENT ME, and hast loved THEM as thou hast loved me. 1 Peter 5:6 'God exalts his saints by his own power. Jesus also taught Íf I speak only of myself, then my word is nothing, "" he dosen't speak for himself but represents another person in authority. Elsewhere he taught , MY Father is more greater than I.

    • @@germanslice I'm sorry but I'm confused, I believe God is one, in three persons, why are you speaking as if I'm against this?

    • @@vadimdushuk The Father Son and Holy Ghost are a council of three distinct individual beings, also known as the Godhead. Or God for Short. The Father is an omniprsent being has a resurrected body with an omnipresent spirit that exists everywhere. The Son also has a resurrected body like onto the Father , and the Holy Ghost is a personage of Spirit. And that is why because they are separate beings is why the Son sits on the right hand of the Father in heaven, because they sit on two thrones in heaven ruling side by side. As the scriptures teach that the Son is raised up to dwell in glory with God the Father on his right hand. Sitting on The Right hand It a old term used in Royalty to describe a ruler who has been given equal power to the throne which is what God gave to his in Christ. The Prince of Peace the Mighty Counselor or in other words the Avocate to the Father sits upon his throne on the right hand side ruling next to the King of heaven and rules next to God the Father as his chosen Christ. For God choose Christ to sit next to him in power and glory making them equal joint heirs on the throne Rev: 3:21. You cannot become a heir to the throne if you are the same person. The throne has to be given by someone else who is already seated in authority and power on the throne.... That is why Rev 3:21 tells you how Christ obtained his throne from God the Father by overcoming all things in order to inherit it.. And after getting his throne from God the Father, Christ now tells his saints to do exactly the same as he had done to obtain his throne and to also overcome all things as he overcame. Paul already knew about this inheritance and told the saints to overcome all things so they may win for themselves a crown in heaven which he Paul was still striving to obtain which he would get in the resurrection of the dead...
