  • I was a a Mormon for over 20 years. In 2019 I got saved after months and months of looking into biblical Christianity. These videos by Apologia helped immensely with some of the big questions I had when comparing Mormonism to Christianity. I used to listen to all the Mormon evangelism videos at work, constantly. My life has so much peace now that I have the true Jesus Christ, but it’s also gotten harder. I was married to a Mormon woman, and after I was saved, it resulted in divorce. There’s a lot of tension with me and family, all because I chose Christ over Joseph. I’ve lost many friends and family and opportunities because of this, and I don’t regret it at all. Jesus is a far greater treasure than anything else this world has to offer. Jeff, I want to thank you for these videos, and how God has used them and used you for his glory to share the gospel. I pray that your guys’ evangelism increases and that more people will listen who are Mormon and that God works in their hearts. God bless!!

    • @@danielmeakin All you need to do is repent of your idolatry and any other sins. The moment you do that God will forgive you of all your sins and give you his righteousness, which is the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Joseph Smith and every LDS prophet since him have preached a gospel of “do,” negating the gospel of “done” that Jesus preached and was. The LDS church is all about what it and its members must still do and be if they want to live with God (and be a god) one day. The true church is all about proclaiming what Christ has DONE to make us right with God now for all eternity. It’s a certainty. Jesus Christ canceled the record of debt that was held against us. All you need to do is accept Christ by faith. It isn't because of who you are and what you must and can do for God. It is because of who God is and what He did for you in sending Jesus to be the sacrificial offering for your sins. To be your substitute on the cross and to satisfy the demands of God's law that stands against you. Christ has done the one work that was necessary to reconcile you to God. Christ has done the one act of righteousness that could bring justification and life to all men. All Christ is asking with open arms is for you to lay down your religiosity and works at the foot of the cross and allow Christ to take it. Salvation is quite simple. Luke 18 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.” God bless you.

    • What's sad is that you left a false religion to join another one. Jeff is a false teacher. We're not saved by repenting of all sins and doing any other sacrifices, we're saved by faith alone in what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. Being God and the perfectly sinless lamb, he paid for all our sins by pouring his precious blood on the cross and resurected three days later for our justification. You believe it, you're saved, you don't believe it or mock it, you perish.

    • @@gethsemane-777 I'm not sure I follow. Repentance is directing all our faith to Christ instead of to other objects, yes? I'm not trying to follow Jeff although I've found his videos helpful as an ex-mormon; I read Isaiah 44 yesterday as he recommended to a Mormon on one of these and God spoke to me through those verses like I haven't heard him speak to me for many years. Honestly the last time I felt that way was when I read the Book of Mormon as a boy. My understanding now though is those feelings were from a false God because Mormon doctrine contradicts God's Word in the Bible and therefor what I felt was not from God but was of the flesh. The feelings I had yesterday are of God because they were in response to and align with his written Word whereas the feelings I had as a boy were in response to false teachings from a false prophet and contradict His Word and must be a pseudo-spiritual experience derived from the flesh. We can be sanctified though through our faith in Christ and a separation from sin can occur if it is the will of God, yes?

Of this we are assured, as Jesus Christ Himself testified it. And so while the people of this world keep looking for ways to embellish the plain truth of scripture with lies, they do so at the expense of Jesus' teachings and commandments, and all because a group of degenerate men said so - not Jesus, or any approved prophet, but very, very clearly, a group of degenerate men having no place whatsoever in the written truth of scripture. And so, in response to your challenge I would answer in truth - that I have pleaded GOD for the truth, and that His Holy Spirit revealed it, as it was revealed to Jesus Christ - the truth of GOD without the addition or removal of anything. That is what GOD's servant and follower of Christ is now testifying to - the truth revealed by GOD, against the lies of men. That is why Jesus Christ did not worship, teach or preach a triune god at any point in His ministry. That is also why, there is not one single mention of anyone worshipping such a god in all of Bible history. That is also why there are no declarations or revelations of such a god(triune) in all Bible history. And finally, that is why there is no such god taught or revealed in the doctrine of godliness established by Jesus Christ on earth. True followers of Christ will worship, teach and preach as Jesus did on earth - and we all know without a doubt, that Jesus did not worship, teach or preach a triune god in His ministry - no one, in all of Bible history did so in-fact. - you have been deceived friend, repent and beg the one true GOD and Father of Jesus Christ for mercy, so that your eyes may be opened, as others were opened before you. I've been going to Christian churches. I've watched a few other pastors talk about these specific things, but never heard the things you said in this video. I've been praying for God to reveal His truth to me. I only want His truth, while following scripture. Then I watched this, while washing dishes. I'm a mom of 6 kids btw. While being fed a delicious poison, that lulled me to sleep, leaving my mind and heart to find comfort in their lies. God's truth isn't easy or comfortable to know... what the Mormon religion leans on is giving comforting answers to things that don't feel good. Like being sealed in temples to your family for time and eternity. Like knowing you'll see them again in Heaven. I'm grieving heavily while I let go of those beliefs. But cannot argue with the things you said and the scriptures you shared. I will indeed be wrestling with God, on my face, as I accept Him, and His perfect word. The Bible does not state/teach of other gods like the LDS do, including the possibility of becoming a "god". In other words, Mormons find the Bible false, if you are being intellectually honest. With all due respect, reading the Bible will verify the Book of Mormon as false. As the conversation in this video portrays, Isaiah 43 and John 1 fundamentally torpedo the crucial question of who Jesus was/is according to LDS teachings. Additionally, there is no teaching in the Bible linking Lucifer to Christ as "brothers".

An easy way to point out that the bible can be wrong is when the Pharaoh of Egypt is said to have God hardening his heart when this could never be possible. God can't take away the agency of any human, Pharaoh hardens his own heart against the words of Moses. On the other hand though, the bible does verify the BoM, one way that we use is 2 Corinthians 13:1, paul states that "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established" proving that when God is teaching something important he sends another source to confirm it. As an example, those who believe God is a spirit automatically turn to John 4:24 because that's what they were taught, when the missionaries want to talk about faith they automatically turn to Alma 32 because that's what they were taught. I agree with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of many patterns and symbolism I see in the Bible, not because of a list of scriptures in a textbook. I agree Christ, Satan and we are all literal spirit brothers and sisters through Revelation 12, Abraham sacrificing Issac, symbolism between the law of Moses and Jesus Christ, 3 Nephi and the name "The Lamb of God". The dead sea scrolls had the same problems wherein they had to invent Greek words and character's to fill in certain empty holes in the scrolls. Joseph and the scribes were likely using the book of breathings characters to fill in several such lacunas in an attempt to match the English translation with the Egyptian character's. What he proposes explains everything the critics question and supports the reality that Smith was actually translating from Egyptian. Nothing is possible without his grace. Jeff Durbin, and the likes teach that God created us out of nothing (exnihilo) because he was bored and needed to be worshipped and that we are simply inferior creatures somewhat like robots, and pawns with an artificially infused intelligence that some how constitutes free will. We teach that God created the world because he loved us as his literal children before we came to earth and that through worshipping and obeying God we receive blessings including eternal salvation. The orthodox folks such as Jeff Durbin and like you must be, teach that more people seem to be headed to hell than to heaven and yet you don't know what either one is really is. You just teach that hell is as bad as it can get and heaven is as good as it can get. You beleive heaven is a static place with no growth and God's glory is limited. We believe it is a dynamic place with a continued increase that glorifies God forever. We teach that God desires to save all of his children and does this through the grace of Jesus Christ. Only the sons of perdition who will full knowledge rejected Jesus will go to a literal "hell". You apparently think the saving power of Jesus is not sufficient to save the majority of the Father's children.

I don't see this as open minded, but clearly a closed minded, closed ears approach to "discussion" when it is not a discussion at all. The way that he answered against John 17:21 was amazing, almost flippant, where he offered his opinion that in the case of John 17:21 Jesus was talking about unity, but in the case of the "Trinity" which Jesus never once spoke about (because it is a man made doctrine), in that case we must believe it means literally one being. What kind of being creates a universe with everything needed to support life, and everything in it. He knows everyones thoughts, he knows everything, he is all powerful, right?. So why do you want to save us from him, because the god you worship, according to your worldview caused everything. Why not tell him go fuck himself for being a hypocrite, child murdering, bigoted fuck face who wouldn't even know how to spell morality, let alone create it. Wake up people, Norway and Japan have no religion and they're the best countries in the world, most of Europe were I live have abandoned religion too, like we did the tooth fairy and Santa, same principles apply. As a member of the the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we do not “believe” in Joseph Smith. We do not praise him and seek to him for guidance for forgiveness, and we do no worship him. We worship Jesus Christ, the Son of God who died on the cross and was resurrected so that we could all live again.

    • Mega Froggy I’ve been in a Christian cult and am now in a new church that is not a part of the NAR movement. I left the deeply invested old church because I was seeing revealing information online about the movement my old church was following. I think some people are given over to their delusions as the the Bible says “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not be done.” Romans 1:28 ESV We see that if people do not listen to God’s correction, he may give them up to their desires. Now, if you seek God you will find him! It’s promised in Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” ESV You must be willing to accept the truth of God if you diligently seek him with a heart ready for him. This is why it is irritating to say you know the truth but will not investigate it especially concerning God and the scriptures you say you know but will not acknowledge the wisdom of. “Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing as well as men. Acts 17:11 ESV It is commendable to research scripture to verify its truthfulness and is seen as a noble work where belief is made possible.

    • tiffani smith good luck: I never got anywhere arguing with MORMONS!

      @joestim8707@joestim87075 жыл бұрын
    • tiffani smith, I am sad for you. First I will correct your terminology of the Lords Church. It is the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Mormon is not the head of the church nor the foundation of the church, he was a prophet & the one who took a few of the records and compiled them, thus the Book of Mormon, the author however is Jesus Christ Himself, he is the one that revealed that which was to be written. There is no difference in how the Bible was compiled by prophets & apostles, who received revelations as to how the Book of Mormon was compiled from the prophets & apostles who received revelations. These and all the books of scripture go hand in hand. You In my experience when we are not being strictly obedient, not taking the opportunity to study the Word, it leaves a gap in the gate that allows just enough room for Satan or one of his angels to creep in and tempt us, lie to us. Then we stop praying and we stop taking advantage of the Atonement, and before we know it we are not making the best of decisions, we start feeling inadequate, we stop praying and then Satan has a firm grasp. Don’t let him win, you must turn to the Light if the World. There is a quote there, supposedly from Christ that says: “I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it.” The church of Jesus Christ is the one and only true church on the face of the earth it holds the name of Jesus Christ unlike any other church it has prophets and apostles as spoken of in the New Testament and Old Testament we live by the commandments we believe in Jesus Christ the one and only Jesus Christ who in the pre-existence we knew as our brother Jehovah the one Jesus Christ to took upon Himself our sins, our sorrows, suffering by way of the Atonement. I encourage you to look at at yourself as a daughter of God and ask if He is pleased with your decisions, I would also encourage you to dust off your Book of Mormon and kneel with real intent asking God if that record which was especially written for the last day if it is true, having faith and believing God will hear and answer your prayer. Should you, like millions of others find that the Holy Ghost bears witness to you, then step up to the plate and soak all that you can in. God is waiting for you to make that move, to ask for His forgiveness (something I have to do daily). He will not force you to believe His gospel, but will also have to implement the consequences of our choices and accountability. You are a princess of a King, even our Father in Heaven, He awaits for each of His children to have humbled hearts and for those lost ones He wants them come back. Ultimately with the gift of free agency It is our decision as to what we want to receive for or eternal future, we are our own Destiny. Trials and tribulations will happen, that is what makes us strong. I have found the Commandments are like a roadmap they are our direction back to our heavenly home, they help us be a better person if we are keeping them, where if we don’t keep the Commandments then we have no promise. I have family members who left the church because they wanted to drink, smoke, not feel guilty for not keeping the Sabbath day Holy etc. The Church of Jesus Christ... was not for them, so they were baptized in the Catholic Church, the felt far less guilty. Sadly for them they will reap what they sewed and will only achieve the glory they could live in on earth.

  • I left Mormonism about 12 - 14 years ago, after several things happened which I just felt like God would never stand for. One thing that bothered me before I left (and still bothers me), is how the Bible is only considered to be the divine word of God if and unless it validates Joseph Smith's claims. If the Bible doesn't validate Joseph's claims, then suddenly the Bible has been "translated incorrectly." If I were to bake a cake with vinegar instead of sugar, would the bad taste be the result of the recipe being written incorrectly, or is the bad taste the result of my mistake? The bad-tasting cake/ "incorrect recipe" scenario can be applied to Mormon doctrine and Joseph Smith's teachings. If Joseph's words are proven to be untrue (which they have been on more than one occasion), then is that the fault of the Bible, a book written roughly 1,000 years before Joseph was even born, or is that the fault of the person making false claims? Believe in the Bible! †
