Few directors like Brian De Palma have explored so thoroughly the ways of narrating cinema. From the use of PoV, split screens, split-diopters, cinema screens, different types of camera angles, especially zeniths and low angles, perspective games, use of different artifacts to show different forms of vision: cameras, televisions, binoculars, mirrors, lenses, frames inside frames, etc. All in service of telling stories of thrillers, gangster and war, about obsessive, megalomaniac and voyeurist characters. This is the cinema of Brian De Palma.

One of the best edited tributes I've seen. So glad "Hi Mom" and "Greetings "were included- I first saw them at DeNiro film festival in NY
Stunning edit. I have spent most of my life defending DePalma against the morons who see his style and influences as theft from Hitchcock. DePalma has his own totally unique twisted, almost fever dream passion combining brilliant technique, mad sexuality and violence, twisted sometimes very dark humor that admittedly may take some getting used to. I on the other hand was so wildly affected by SISTERS in 1972, that I sought his works out and turned many of my friends on to them. I.J.S.
De Palma is a Cinematic God to me! Excellent editing and a big thanks for the hommage to the legend
Thanks!!
Muchas gracias!
Extremely well done. The inter-connectivity of all De Palma's work beautifully realized. There's more substance in De Palma's style than in a truckload of preachy oscar baiting drama. Now if we only could have 10 more of his works. btway for all De Palma fans, Redacted needs to be rediscovered again. Both extremely heartfelt and uncomfortably satirical. If there's one person that can have his cake and eat it too it's De Palma.
De Palma is definitely the best living cinema director
This video is pure love to cinema and a perfect tribute to the most underrated director of all time. It sure was a ton of hard work to make the video but it really payed off.
This is major De Palma love! Thanks so much...I'll be watching this again and again, just like I do all his movies, of which I'm only missing a few on DVD.
Incredible edit. De Palma truly is one of the greatest American directors of all time. Nobody makes sleazy genre art like him.
Thanks! It really is one of the greatest.
Impresionante video, para aplaudirte de pie, felicidades. BRIAN DE PALMA, MAESTRO NIVEL DIOS!!!
Gracias!
This was incredible. De Palma is an underrated genius, and he is a filmmaking hero of mine. It’s great to see some De Palma appreciation. Amazing work Gabriel! Would love to see a video on Hitchcock next!
Wow wow wow - what an amazing thing you have created Gabriel! It actually gave me chills watching this. I absolutely adore De Palma. The amazing poster for Dressed to Kill is on my wall, as is Body Double. I don't need reminding of my love for de Palma - but if I did... your stunning, heartfelt appreciation video would do it. Thank you
Amazing job! Do Michael Mann next?
After finally diving into all of De Palma's work I can ho estly say he's one of my faves. No matter the film there's something worth seeing in each one. And you captured his essence perfectly. While it's hard to boil down a person's many decades of art into 15 minutes, you truly did the master wonderfully. You gave each film a spotlight, showing how Brian has a style like no other. Fantastic job. One of the best filmmaker tribute videos ever.
Wow. Wow. Wow. A worthy tribute.
One of the greatest fun video ever 🤗 De palma is a genius 😢🤗🤗🤗😏😎
FANTASTIC MONTAGE!! THANK YOU ;)

Thank you very much!! I don't know about Oscar worthy haha, but I really aprecciate the comment!
@@GabrielFasano it could be
Truly amazing work, Gabriel! Superlative, stupendous, and simply stunning editing. In a little over 16 minutes you reminded me why he is my favorite film director of all time. Bravo sir 👏🏻
Gran trabajo, amigo. Muchas gracias.
ESSE VÍDEO CONSEGUE MOSTRAR A GENIALIDADE DE UM CINEASTA EM MENOS DE 20 MINUTOS. AS TRAMAS CENTRADAS GERALMENTE NO HOMEM ERRADO TENTANDO PROVAR SUA INOCÊNCIA, MULHERES FATAIS, UM ATIRADOR PRONTO PARA PUXAR O GATILHO, CONSPIRAÇÕES, O FOCO NO OLHAR DO PERSONAGEM. ASSISTIR UM FILME DE BRIAN DE PALMA É COMO TOMAR UMA INJEÇÃO DE ADRENALINA NA VEIA.
I am currently watching a Gabriel Fasano marathon. This is honestly fucking amazing. You are a really talented editor. Or to quote one of De Palma's greatest fans Quentin Tarantino: ,,If you truly love cinema, with you all you heart and with enough passion you can't help but make a good movie"
I watch a partial marathon daily, at work, for lunch, the highlight of my day ! Don't miss out on his two, 'The Dream Maker - Films of my life Parts. 1 & 2 ', hidden in his ensemble of tributes ! Part 1 is unbelievably fantastic !

@@GabrielFasano / Absolutely fantastic, an Oscar worthy tribute, a beautifully orchestrated mix of cinematic cinematography, dialogue & song, simply the greatest 16 minutes & 32 seconds of film on all of KZhead ! I sincerely thank you for all your magnificent films, Mr. Brian De Palma & thank you, Sir Gabriel Fasano for this extraordinary, compositional artistic montage of the Genius & his works ! Bravo !!! Maybe a better question for Sir Gabriel, do you plan to direct any films yourself, now or in the future ?
@@majortom4658 I hope so, in the future. It's a dream I have.
@@GabrielFasano/ thinking, soon you will experience the cost of oblivious daydreaming, when movie producers come knocking & kicking at your door. I have an Oscar worthy original script that's 90% complete, pretty sure we'll see each other down the line. Best of luck !
powerfull crossover
Can you put a link for the body double theme. The version you used isn’t from the original soundtrack. But I prefer the version you used.

Life reaches out for life. That's what we were born for, isn't it ? To stand on a new world & look beyond it, to the next one . . . It's who we fucking are !
Love Kim Delaney in this scene & tribute sequence, a chance to breath, beautifully edited ' - Delaney first became known for her stint as innocent teenager Jenny Gardner Nelson on the soap opera All My Children, which also was her first job.
CON ESE MONTAJE Y ESE FONDO MÙSICAL DE "CARRIE", BRRR, SE ME HAN ERIZADO LOS POROS DE LA PIEL, BUENÌSIMO !!!!
Gracias!
You don't get this in a Fellini film !
Hello Mr Fasano! I was told to ask you by Major Tom (probably not hi real name) if Brian De Palma used actual orchestras in his soundtracks or was it a combination of orchestra and synthesizer ... or what?
Cuando subirás un nuevo vídeo??? Tengo muchas ganas!
Yo tmb jaja. Está en proceso pero todavía falta

Makes me kind of wish Ennio Morricone had scored all of his films.
