It actually mostly killed me when he said "you will not change my step-brother!!!" because Cecil isn't exactly kind to him but he still stands up for his terrible town, his well-meaning, badly-dressed, probably not actually human step-brother and his disabled daughter and he loves all three enough to lift this dumbass Kevin and throw him into one of those weird ass oak doors from which is entering a very suspicious and probably dangerous light

Late to the party here but I absolutely love Steve's reaction to Kevin's insistence that everyone can just be "fixed" as opposed to accommodating disabled people. I'm seeing some people saying "well wait why *wouldn't* Janice want to be fixed?" That is certainly a possibility! However, as a disabled person, most of us don't want to be, or even feel that we need to be "fixed." I've never had a fully functioning right arm, and I don't particularly want one. I like my weird arm! Like Janice, I've had my disability since birth. I feel like I wouldn't properly be myself without it--I've never known anything else. Maybe if it had been injured later in life I would feel different, but as it is, I don't. I don't mind my bad joints either! I have some really cool forearm crutches I use sometimes, like how Janice has her wheelchair! (I could do without the chronic pain, but otherwise I don't have an issue with it). So yeah, it's possible that Janice would want to be able to walk. But the implication that disabled people need to be "fixed" and are "imperfect" (and linking their worth as a human being to their productivity), and implying that our quality of life must be bad because we are not able-bodied, is what's messed up. We're not broken, we do not need to be fixed, we are not "imperfect" or worth any less because our bodies are different, and I love that WTNV acknowledges that so clearly.
yes!! thank you!! I saw the same comments and I got a little miffed so I’m glad to see yours helping educate people. Linking a persons ability level to their productivity and equating a disability to being broken and something needing to be fixed is literally eugenics and apparently some people still really need to learn about disability rights lol
Besides that, Janice has never expressed that she wanted to change. (They would have mentioned it if she did-). She’s perfectly capable in the Girl Scouts and Book Club regardless. Meanwhile Megan Wallaby expresses that she wants to not just be a detached hand (which in this universe appears to be a congenital condition-). Thus she gets the treatment for that. That’s her decision, and it helps her to speak to everyone when before she couldn’t. She made the choice to get her condition treated and it’s equally respected.
Ah, that makes sense. I'm not physically disabled myself, so I thought the issue was less so about being "fixed" and moreso their reasons for it and their incredibly cold disposition. I interpreted it as being akin to saying "I always make sure to 'fix' my disabled slaves so they can serve me better."
Like him or, most likely, hate him, but Steve Carlsberg really knows how to do voices quite well. Hal Lublin, you're very talented!

Steve is really good at impersonations, I'll give him that. OMG, except for Carlos! XD That is the WORST Carlos impression I've ever heard! (I read that the stage notes for Cecil at that part just read "honest opinion of the Carlos-voice.") Though I wish they'd take videos of the live shows. I would pay for one! I just... when Kevin says "Watch me smile." everybody goes crazy and I REALLY wish I could see what was happening there. But... maybe I don't need to. I love Cecil and Steve's reactions. It really lends itself to bizarre mental imagery. But what was the *audience* going on about?? I like how they both flat-out deny the existence of angels though. Steve maybe the town weirdo, but there are some lines that even HE won't cross.

Does anybody else think that the whole of Desert Bluffs was brainwashed by Strex Corp. just like what they attempted to Night Vale? And that maybe Kevin was one of the leading rebels and the last one to be completely taken over? I got that feeling from what he said before Steve got rid of him. I feel bad for him now. :(

He's a foil for Cecil. Desert Bluffs is what Nightvale could've become if the citizens didn't stand up to Strex Corp. So in a way, Kevin used to be just like Cecil, and Cecil could've become just like Kevin.
Remember how Kevin was talking about how even a radio host who was so resistant to the smiling god, just accepted it. Do you think Kevin was normal, like Cecil, before getting possessed/controlled by the Smiling God? (Just a theory) :-)
I was reading more about Kevin on his wiki, and I found this. "Known Physical Features Not short or tall, fat or thin and dark black eyes. Physically handicapped from failed attempts to rebel against StrexCorp." He did try to escape Strex, this is not the real Kev. Which really disappoints me, because whoever is in that body, using his name is a brainwashed Kev.
Remember when Cecil went through that portal to desert bluffs and kevin described Cecil as someone who looked just like him? And remember the tapes episode when Cecil mentioned his brother? I think Kevin is his missing brother

At least she isn't a rich douchebag that abuses of his power. 4)It is funny that Dana and Tamika have different ideas about what must be done. 5)I like that everyone in Night Vale fought bravely and that many things were referenced, like the do-I mean plastic bags. 7)Now that StrexCorp was defeated, what can happen to Night Vale in the future? The dark planet? That thing is still a mystery. 8)The Faceless Old Woman and Hiram McDaniels will probably cause troubles in the future. 9)The weather was beautiful! 10)Now I have to hear the next episodes and the audiobook of the novel!

I think that might be what happened. It did sound like Cecil and Steve were somehow related, so, brother-in-law does make sense, unless, of course, Steve is the brother that young Cecil mentioned in episode 33- Cassette, but that older Cecil doesn't remember.

In a later episode Steve tells his side of the story, he and Cecil were fine, till he started talking about the sort of conspiracy stuff he talks about here. Cecil was outraged. He didn't want Janice hearing that sort of stuff and repeating it. Like, apparently he even complimented Steve on his cooking, 'these are the best scones I've ever had!".

When Carlos said "I'm not from Nightvale," I literally burst into tears.
“I mean… where even IS Nightvale?”
So, we can’t shut the oak doors unless everyone is back where they belong. And every moment those doors are open, more of that light gets through into Night Vale. I couldn’t figure out why we couldn’t just keep the doors closed for good, and it was really frustrating to have a problem I couldn’t solve. And then I got sad, because I couldn’t solve it. But then I did solve it, and I felt so happy! So those are some - but not all - of the emotions that I had. Here is what I found. Night Vale is a place that is difficult to leave, and difficult to enter, and connecting a place as weird as that with a place as weird as this was causing a lot of…strain ion linear time and space. So…those native to Night Vale, Dana, John, the angry woman in the Intern shirt, all had to return home, and the masked army all had to come back here, which they did. Just moments ago, the last of them came back through the door. It is so exciting when you make a scientific discovery like that! I was very happy! But then, as the last of the masked army members came through the door, it slammed shut and vanished. And I remembered that I am not from Night Vale. I remembered that, as far as the laws of the universe are concerned, it is not where I belong. Cecil, I don’t even remember how I got to Night Vale in the first place. I mean, where is Night Vale, even? But I promise I will find a way back. It’ll just take a couple of days, a week max. I’ll be fine. I’m a scientist. Cecil? A scientist is usually fine. Maybe a few weeks, I don’t know. The upside is Dana was right. I have had 97% battery all day, and decent reception! So we’ll at least get to talk every night. Best of luck at home. I love you. It's March 16, 2016. An election contest between a Faceless Old Woman and a fire-breathing dragon seems a little less weird now. And the Angels who have acquired Strexcorp. who are they? My head is spinning.
This and part A were the most emotional episodes yet. I got chills when Kevin spoke. I started jumping up and down when Dana was announced mayor. I loved e very second of it and started chanting take down Strex when Cecil mentioned it. I sqealed and gasped and laughed and cried tears of joy. I felt an ache in my heart when I heard Carlos' voicmail to Cecil. I LOVED EVERY SECOND!!!!!!!
