  • This video brought back great memories of the many years I did one-man back country camping in mostly Rocky Mountain National Park, before becoming severely disabled from cancer. In those days I used an MSR Whisperlite white gas stove, no coffee grinder, and everything else much the same. When you sat on the log drinking hot coffee, drinking in the wilderness, for a moment I was back there too. Merry Christmas 🎁

    • Yeah I hear you this was great back in the day like was 20 years ago. And I feel for you about your disability especially with your cancer I hope you live many many more years. But I have a disease also that change my life dramatically it's very hard to do physical things I can't do them anymore really. And I miss the wilderness the adventures even just a simple thing of walking in the woods all day long or even a day of hunting. But good luck with you I'm wishing you the best

Going into potentially hazardous conditions.. so many people get to excited and may tell there co worker something but completely forget to let there friends and family's where and when they are leaving... literally every couple of months it happens and people never learn its honestly sad but getting old . People need to plan ahead !!

  • I am this kinda crazy as well, haven’t had a chance to do a full setup but I had my “birthday party” as a teen with a 4 person tent about 3 miles in the woods, set up a temporary lean-to, and started a big bonfire in about 16 inches of fresh snow. My parents laughed, they thought it was cool and half the people I invited left before nightfall, but the people who stayed got to share the booze I got 😉 slept all nice and cozy in a dope sleeping bag, woke up and made coffee the OG way with the sunrise, truly a dream like memory Something about sitting around a fire in a clearing, so many sounds yet so quiet, I gotta get a camping pack and do something like this ❤

  • Best video ever. I absolutely love that there is no music, and minimal talking is appreciated too. What coziness! Felt like I was there. I would have liked a temp reading inside, both with door open and door closed. Fahrenheit reading is probably asking too much 🤣, but we can convert it. Thanks for making such a great video! People who don't like winter are missing out on the most beautiful of seasons.

  • Awesome setup. All of you young folks out there pay attention and know that life passes by fast. I was too busy trying to feed a family of six to get to do very much of this and when I could it was always poor-boying it. I am not complaining but offering advice. Get outside and do it while you can. Invest in some good gear early in life. I still camp and enjoy it very much but can car camp only. I would have to call 911 to get help getting in and out of that tent but would love to give it a try. Back packing in would be so great, it allows you to go where most people can't or won't and that is my style. Great video!

Waking up in the cold at night, can't go back to sleep because of it, back/ neck pains when you wake, etc etc. But watching these videos just feels so peaceful and primal. Nothing else matters but getting a fire going for the night and setting up camp, all your big problems you stress about don't even exist anymore, it's peaceful. I hope high tech VR takes off in my lifetime so I can camp like this without the real world strains lol

I turned it on it's side, made a union by cutting c circle the size of the pipe into pie slices and bending them up for the pipe to sit on, put 4 drywal screws through the side for the rack to sit on as a burn shelf. Works great and it was free except for the tape.

  • With all the BS on local TV, I found KZhead. In the last three months, I have watched campers build shelters and chop enough wood to house and keep warm a lot of people. I found your site one afternoon, and with a glass of wine in hand, I followed your adventures. I love Boomer. I worry sometimes that he might be cold but you do take good care of him. I love adventure. Have sailed my sloop, flown in a sailplane, and hunted big game in the western states and birds with my dogs. I love being in the wilderness. I have done my share of camping. Backpacking into the wilderness with my sons, fishing in out-of-the-way streams, such as Golden Trout Creek, steelhead in Idaho. But I cannot do this anymore, so I thank you for your shows, for all the information, equipment that was not available when we hit the rails.

Other channels I have been watching while the focus is on the adventure, the main thread is a monologue of the developer. Keep doing what you are doing. It is appreciated.

I like seeing the juxtapositioning of warmth and salvation in that thin tent with death outside if you stayed outside with no protection for a while. No turkeys but we carved a multilevel hot tent out of the snow and a completely frozen river 20 yards away from a huge field, squatting in the woods. I didn't learn enough, but I learned a lot about hot tent camping. It was really cool. Not to ruin things for old time sake, but we had a rechargeable, DVD player, some vintage whiskey, and told each other good tales for the night! 😌😚plus we ate WELL! Glad we didn't need the turkeys
