I don't know about your case but in Korea, Dad's usually can't give unconditional love as prepping a child for society needs sternness and a lot of discipline. However as grandfathers they are free of that responsibility, being able to shower unconditional love they kept and couldn't express as a father. Reason most Korean grandfathers are so much different from fathers. Whenever someone did something wrong or there was an issue. My grandfather would give my sister some pocket money to let her go to the store, so when she was out of earshot he would start yelling or show his disapproval on the family, he just didn't want his precious granddaughter to see that.
I wish my sister felt the same. My father never hit us to abused us she just doesn’t like him and won’t let him be a grandfather to her child. It breaks my heart

Reminds me of my husband looking at at our first granddaughter n her bassinet. Kept going back & forth looking at her. Daughter told him pick her up. He’d didn’t want to disturb her sleep but he eventually picked her up. That started the tightest bond ever. She 32 now.

Would you want to do something like make a little memory box for each of your children to share with your potential grandchildren if you don't get the chance to meet them? Maybe write about memories you have with each child/ future parent, share photos of places that are special to you that you'd like them to think of you when they visit, recipes you'd like your kids to feed to your grandkids, lessons, skills, games you'd want to share with them. Funny stories, your hobbies and dreams, hopes for them. Maybe a small gift or two to be given at a specific milestone birthday/high school graduation. Etc. Leave them a little chest of treasures. Your kids will probably enjoy going through these things with your future grandkids and it might spark joyful conversations about you many years down the road. In the meantime I wish you as many happy years as you can possibly muster with the family you have now ❤
I’ve put things down in cards and tomorrow we start shooting videos. I already have some videos done but want to do much more.
I just hope my parents stay healthy for a long time to witness the growth of their children and grandchildren

What a beautiful moment at the 15:00 min mark!!! And that they look so much alike is so incredible! My mother's and my graduation pictures were like seeing one person, except hers was black and white while mine is in color! I have 3 sisters, so it was surprising that mine was so close to hers.
I know the feeling . I had my first grandchild when I was 44. Now I am 50 I have 3 and counting. You can never beat that feeling of seeing your grandchild especially for the first time.

My niece was something like my much younger sister, it is my sister´s daughter which she passed aways when my niece was only 6 years old..
