What The Hell Is Going On With PlayStation Exclusive Project Awakening?

Remember Project Awakening? All the way back in 2016, Cygames announced the high fantasy action RPG, and in 2018, the developer followed that up with a brief but hugely impressive gameplay showing.
Instantly, the game became a hotly anticipated one for many who laid eyes on it, and though details on it were brief, the idea of a visually stunning open world action RPG taking cues from the likes of Monster Hunter World and Dragon’s Dogma 2 was one that turned more than a few heads.
Surprisingly, however, in the years since then, we’ve seen shockingly little of the game. We still don’t know much about what Project Awakening is going to be, when it’s going to come out, or even what it’s going to be called. So what exactly is going on?

  • I think the development has taken longer because they are evolving the Cyllista engine together with this project. I hope to be proven wrong, but don't expect to see it soon, for instance Granblue Fantasy Relink was first announced back in 2016 and it took 8 years to materialize; they already said that announcing games too early was a mistake, I would be very surprised If we see an updated trailer this year.

  • I remember seeing a clip of this a while back in a montage video somewhere and thought ‘what the hell’ is this. Somehow I managed to miss the trailer so I had no idea what it was called and spent a long time trying to find it but to no avail! Thanks for letting me know what it’s called! 😂

  • Along these same lines, what the hell ever happened to Deep Down? First announced back in 2013, it's only poked its head up a few times over the past decade, like some perverse unicorn sighting that just serves to taunt people with what might have been.

  • It's the same situation as deep down. It was shown in a presentation for the next console and it really went deep down and was forgotten with time.

  • Man, I was just thinking about this game the other day! That and W.I.L.D.! Also, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and the Fear Effect remake, but the latter was confirmed cancelled sadly, damn! Well, at least we're getting Wukong in August, a game I never believed would actually release because, for some reason, I thought of it as carrying this "never releasing" aura! Edit: I believe CY's vision for this game just wasn't feasible to fulfill for a PS4 era release. I believe the game's development was moved exclusively over the PS5 at some point and that initial trailer (as impossible as it looked back then) is now actually a good indication of what we'll actually be getting for the final release! Can't wait, I only hope it's not getting axed!

  • geez i forgot about this game..all these today games take so long they either get canceled or are finished years after telling people theres a game being made...pragmata is another long delayed game i hope is still worked on

    • 😂 so you tried correcting someone and made a spelling mistake. The difference between the two spellings of 'vapor' is American English versus British. In Canada we use British as well.​@@lengwei4864

  • Dragons dogma 2 has way worse visuals and runs at 30 fps. So no, this isnt real.
