  • I can personally attest to *flex tape* patching the inside of a punctured tire. 2 layers worked like a charm. Used bonding cement on the edges of the tape to help keep it secured. Going on a year now, no issues.

  • This video made absolutely no sense at all to see if Flex Seal could fix a car tire. I had a new set of 4 tires on my 98 Lincoln Navigator ( size 22 Low profile ) and the side of one was split some how after sitting in my garage on a flat over winter. Well, I took it off the rim and cleaned it from the inside as he did with the 70% rubbing alcohol. Sprayed a Few layers of the flexseal in between the split from the inside and then let it sit flat and did it over that. Worked perfect 👍🏾

  • Either your car is dropped or you have negative camber, that wears out tires faster from the inside towards the frame of the car. I had that happen on my G3 Integra, dropped on all 4s and it ate through all the tires same way as yours.

    @wylapache5362@wylapache53622 жыл бұрын
  • Tires are vulcanized rubber, so it would make sense that the rubber would be softer. An interesting thought for sure, however I'm not sure even I could cheap out and feel comfortable riding on a tire like that, but I'm glad you tried the proof of concept.

  • It’s not a fair test to drill a hole in a tire. Most punctures come from nails and screws. They don’t actually create gaps in a tire like drilling does. It just doesn’t seem likely to have such a large hole in a tire.

  • What was the bit size used for this experiment? That seems like an awfully large hole to expect the Flex Seal to work on, given the pressure put on it after re-inflating. Plus, 24 hrs was probably not long enough time for curing. Directions say, 24-48 hrs...and maximum strength in 7 days. I have SUPER SMALL puncture, on 1 car tire, with NO VISIBLE evidence of the object that's in the tire. It took 2 (looong) visits to repair shop before they finally found it! It was so small they couldn't find it after doing soap/water test AND even after OVER inflating tire...2.5 times its rsted PSI level. The leak is VERY SLOW, losing 6 to 8 PSI in 3-4 days after correct inflation. I'm going to try the Flex Glue & see if it helps slow the leak more or (hopefully) stops it... completely. I will try & do the Flex Tape on inside, too. But may have to remove the object, if it's poking through enough.

    • i worked out away in extreme remote locations .. the neatest tire sealer i have ever seen was completly out of this norm of my scope of quick fix schemas.. plain old cotton from the plant mixed with a little flour and elmers glue will plug a hole in a farm tractor front tire half inch!! the operator wa s from mexico and he said if you dont have cotton go find a pillow with the feathers will work just as well but u have to throw a couple of wash rags inside the tire first and let them start to plug the hole and just let it sit until the rag dries on the inside then throw the rest of the cocncotion in the tire and air it up past the norm pressure by 20 pnds then spinn the tire till it quits leaking then get to worlkkk! lo it works

      @randallmarsh446@randallmarsh446 Жыл бұрын
  • Now you almost had the right idea fundamentally; all one simply has to do is use the rubber flex seal in conjunction with a conventional latex rubber tire plug; simply coat the entire exterior of the latex rubber tire plug with the spray on rubber flex seal; and then insert the freshly coated rubber flex seal tire plug using the hand tire plug insertion tool half way into the tire carcass; then simply let it cure for about twenty hours or so and it should now not be leaking air hopefully.

  • Sooo, u just patched my friends tire that had a screw in it. I used that "Slime Tire Patch and Repair Plug" stuff that has those rubber plugs. It did not come with any rubber cement tho. But, I plugged the tire and it did hold air. But, I was skeptical to put it back on the car because it didn't come with any rubber cement. Soo, I did spray some of this "Flex Seal Liquid Rubber" over the plug. It says to let dry for 24 hours. Soo, I left the donut on her car for now because I didn't wanna put the tire back on and it end up leaking once she drove it. I'm gunna go back tomorrow and see if the Flex Seal Liquid Rubber will act like a rubber cement and keep the plug in the tire without it leaking air, or just completely ripping out of the hole when she drives it. I know all these videos say it doesn't work, but considering I did use a plug and stopped the leak, I'm curious to see if the Flex Seal will work that way.. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Or do you guys think it will work?

    • @@Surteronarto Thanks for reminding me. I would NOT recommend flex seal by itself (Because of the air pressure). But, I did find an easy fix from another channel. Apparently, just super glue and a little bit of paper will fix small pinholes on inner tubes, and then I put 3 coats of flex seal over the paper patch, and it's been perfect over the last week... Hope that helps, because I watched a few videos to come up with a solution that works.

That will work far better. I bet you could take a piece of screen from damaged window and spray it. I wouldnt expect it to balance at 65 mph. but you could probably spray a bit on the opposite side. to balance.

  • Dude... Not even the cheapest tire repair kit just sits on the outside. I think Flex Seal would work Great !But, the correct way to test it would be to put one of those small red straws ( WD - 40 type ) onto the spray nozzle and insert it into the tire a little bit to completely clog the hole. Maybe put it inside so it has a slight build up from the inside similar to an internal patch. Then it would work. No Doubt ! But you have to have the entire hole filled with rubber and connected to a larger blob of Flex Seal sitting on the surface of the inside that is unable to be pushed through by the inevitable pressure. Bevause the main point is to keep this patch from Blowing while on the road under increased stress, pressure & heat. But it will work if done right.
