    • Is it REALLY feasible to purchase and repair this 'salvaged' car for less than the original purchase price? I'm not sure what undamaged low mileage examples are currently selling for, but isn't he ALREADY $1 MILLION invested? Even if you don't consider any labour costs, what would it cost just to replace all of the damaged carbon fiber panels? Isn't it nearly impossible to simply 'repair' damage to carbon fiber? It's not like steel or aluminum where you can just hammer out the dents and bondo/weld in missing bits?

If it has been built once, it can be rebuild, sure it will take a heck of a lot of money, so budgeting and alternative options/fixes will be the key here. • @@eddieduran4670 Right now it's worth exactly what Tavarish paid for it - $525k. In 10 years it will be worth north of $10m, probably more than $20m for a perfect example. I've restored cars for 30 years, including some worse than this that were less valuable. It's a challenge for sure, but he will come out ahead. There nothing that can't be restored, esp. with modern manufacturing and enough time and/or money. In the supercar collectible world, this is extremely doable as the parts are still available from the manufacturer, it's not like you have to make an entire gearbox from scratch, manufacture a new windshield or even an entire body from a single photo (BTDT)..... Either way, it's a win as his main business is doing YT videos and the more comments & views he gets, the more $$$ sponsors pay. And, once more, in the very high-end collectible world, salvage titles just don't matter. A ton of Ferrari 250 GTOs have been crashed to the point of being scrap, they are still worth 90% of a minter well restored. Ditto with Ford GTs, a few are even assembled from multiple cars. The is nothing like the "normal" car market or even racing cars, totally different.

    • I think a lot of people genuinely don't understand that. Sure, something like this doesn't make any kind of financial sense on its own, but that doesn't mean it *can't* be fixed, just that it's going to require resources beside simply throwing money at it. Resources such as doing most of the work yourself, finding ways to repair components which normally would be replaced, cross-referencing part numbers with other models in order to find replacements for parts that are beyond repair, partnering with friends or colleagues to work on parts of the project you can't do yourself, getting sponsorships, and (probably most importantly in this case) having a way to monetize the process as you go. Basically, Freddy's got this.

    • ESPECIALLY if he wants to reuse as much of the "substance" as possible, a total disassembly is unavoidable. Alone, he has a massive gash in the carbon frame. Carbon is extremely stiff, but this also makes it extremely vulnerable against small defects, then the scratch creates such a peak stress that the part breaks at a fraction of the regular load. Not bend or getting soft, but break clean through. So he should/has tp give the frame to an EXPERIENCED specialist in carbon fiber who knows how you make a repair that restores the rigidity. Alone the windows and the battery here add up to 180,000 dollars, when he is lucky, he gets away with 500,000 dollar in parts. I would contact McLaren whether something goes, after all that is great advertisement for them.
