In this video, I review the Copenhagen Card. The Copenhagen Card is a city pass that gives you entry and admission for over 80 attractions and tours in and around the city along with free public transportation. You can buy them in 24 hour increments and the adult card comes with 2 free kid cards to cover your children aged 3-11, so it can really bring down the cost of your trip if you use it right.
The Copenhagen Card is a worthwhile purchase for many tourists in Copenhagen, but it all depends on your interests and your travel style.
Is it right for you? I help you figure it out in this video as I try out the Copenhagen Card for myself, so I can show you if it’s right for you.
I be using a 24 hour Copenhagen Card and doing a side by side analysis of what I would spend without it compared to the cost of the card so you can see if it would actually save YOU money.
I track my time and activity along the way I’ll be dropping my tips as a local and break down all the practical information you should consider before you purchase.

  • Just back from a stay in CPH and wanted to say that this video was really helpful, thanks guys! As an example to others watching, in 24 hours we managed to do Rosenborg Castle, Designmuseum Denmark, Amalienborg rooms, Staatsmuseum Voor Kunst, The Architecture Centre, Christiansborg Ruins and Tivoli entrace with 10 minutes to spare, plus 5-6 metro journeys and never felt rushed! The weather just wasn't good enough last week for the boat trip - but we have a reason to return! A couple of notes since this video was released: - The Round Tower is no longer on the CPH card, but is a small fee (40DKK) to pay to go up, and I would recommend it. - You can leave Tivoli via the Food Hall and get your hand stamped so that you can come back later for the lights show.

  • I'm kind of lazy traveler- I like to go with the flow, and to me the luxury of a vacation is not being scheduled and beholden to a clock. I think I bought the card for 1 or 2 days once and it was good for days when you want to pack a lot in. If travelling from the US, even if you're sleepy and jet lagged, it's more important to try to get your butt out of bed, get some strong coffee in you, and get moving because stuff tends to close a little earlier than what you're used to, and in the fall/winter you want to maximize daylight activities. And yes, they will "card" you on Metro and S-tog, so be prepared!

    • Thank you 😊 I’ve actually been everywhere on your list besides the H.C. Andersen Museum, but living in Copenhagen it’s just easier and more practical to make content in Copenhagen - although we do have several videos in other cities. It would take a lot more time and money to travel around and make tourist content in other places, but as a practical matter they’re not as big of tourist destinations. I’d love to see some content from creators living in other Danish cities though, especially since they’d have real insights to the locations. I may do some content in Århus soon though (with a local or two who many people will know) stay tuned 😉

  • Personally, I found the Rejsekort cheaper and more suitable. I spent 1 week in CPH, 1 week in Odense, and my final week in Aarhus. Using the Rejsekort to sight see in each location was cheap and easy to use. However, to travel from CPH to Odense or Odense to Aarhus, I bought an Orange DSB train ticket online, that is cheapest when you're travelling that far from one major city of Denmark to another major city. An Orange DSB is about $200 to 300 Kroner, whereas if you use your Rejsekort to travel from CPH to Odense or Aarhus, it'll cos you $600 Kroner with the Rejsekort. Most attractions in CPH are free... the things that most tourist go and see in Copenhagen is completely free anyway, so I found the Copenhagen card pointless, as I only needed to pay entry for a few places while I was there, which was Frederiksberg Slot and Garden, and a Museum in CPH city center, and Tivoli. I did travel to Roskilde too, to see a Viking Museum, that cost for entry but again... I don't mind paying, most entry fees for 1 adult is from $100 DKK to $130 DKK, that's nothing in my local currency. I think the Copenhagen card is convenient if you're staying in CPH for a few days and only plan to stay in or around the main city central area where you can walk to the things you want to see. Download the "Rejseplan" app on your phone. It helps you to plan what bus/train to take to get to your location/attraction. I find visiting Tivoli on a friday or saturday in the afternoon and staying until midnight to be the best, because fridays and saturdays Tivoli has a firework show that starts somewhere around 11:30pm to midnight, and it's cool to see, It's nothing major or big but it's beautiful to see at night when all the lights at Tivoli are on. I find Tivoli most beautiful at night time than day time.

  • I can see the bennifit of it, but also see the minus with it. It really depends on your travel style. A great example for a museum tour that is cheaper and totally walkable is the Parkmusems but if you are going much around and head for atractions not on other discount options then it's great... and if you want somthing that is hassel free no need to think alot then it's great.

In your opinion would you visit Frederiksborg Castle or would you dedicate more time in the city itself? We hope to visit Rosenborg, Amalienborg and Christiansborg too + Tivoli in the late afternoon and evening on the first night. Are certain castles/palaces a must over others? Thanks for your help! Excellent videos :)

    @TDYo@TDYo10 ай бұрын
    • So glad this helped and hope you have a great trip ahead of you! There’s probably a lot of opinions, but I would personally prioritize the attractions in the city itself with a short time window. Frederiksborg Castle is gorgeous and super impressive, the nicest in my opinion, but the time it takes to get there would pull you away from the ability to see more things in a short period of time in the city. I would prioritize Amalienborg the least if you find yourself wanting to spend more time at Tivoli or elsewhere, but the nice thing with the Copenhagen Card is you can feel less guilty doing a “whistle stop” tour of each castle.

  • All the videos I've seen on your channel are fantastic. I am going to Copenhagen in September. In this video, I don't quite understand the schedule you made. You say you leave in the afternoon of the first day, but you go to Christiansborg Palace, where you spend an hour and a half. I think it closes at 5:00 p.m. and after that you can still go to the National Museum where you say you stay for two hours. To do all this you would have to leave in the morning, right? The next day you also make many visits. I don't even understand what schedule you did, since you say that 24 hours are 24 hours and I don't think everything seen can be done in 24 hours considering schedules

  • Soon be staying in Copenhagen for 3 nights...the Copenhagen card, can I purchase for two people on one account or is the account for per person? (We're going as a couple) - another question I was looking at 96 hrs and plan to go on the train to the central station from the airport station at 14.00hr (Fri) - return back to the airport at 15.00hr (Mon) so not sure will 96 hours cover that time...or will we be pushed for time?

    @KJD394@KJD39410 ай бұрын
    • Yes, you can have two cards held on one app, you just swipe it to the right and left to display one or the other and you can pull up both transport and attraction QR codes/barcodes 😊 It IS truly 96 hours, so when the card expires you will lose the transportation verification QR code. You can buy a single ticket at the train station though. You’d need a 3-zone ticket and that’s 36 kr each ticket or $5.25. Another option could be to head to the airport a little early and do it on the card or even trim a little time on both ends - say activate the card at 14.30 when you head to central station on arrival and head back to the airport a bit early too so you arrive by 14.30 for departure.

    • It depends on your travel style of course, but I think it's well-worth it if you plan your itinerary out in advance - trying to do most of the attractions in the city center in your first two days means that you can add trips out of the city (to Helsingør and Kronborg Castle, to Roskilde for the Viking Ship Museum and Cathedral, and to Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød) for the additional days. Besides the entry, the transport to the attractions outside of the city will make it worthwhile and of course you can use it to get around within the city as well. I would think you'll save at least what I did in the video and you can spread out your itinerary over the extra days and fit in the day trips or half-day trips outside of the city center with transport.

    • That’s actually an urban legend. There were two architects and one died before it was built and the other died in bed seven years after it was completed.

  • I used a 3 day GetYourGuide Krakow pass in May, did not know the booking thing, so a bit confusing. Planned every day to the max. Was a blast. And had 2 Free Walking Tour of Krakow around the city, (did them start of the week, so i did know the city better :) ) , the "free" tours, we only had to give a tip. And ofc thanks for YOUR guide.

    • ❤️ They’re so helpful and we love Krakow, we took my mom there for her 60th birthday. Her grandmother came over from Poland and we got in touch with her second cousins - it was a really memorable trip 😃
