I’m not too sure what everyone uses. Price is a major factor for most. When I used to buy snow tires I always bought stud less because we have rules about when the tires can have studs but the weather can be bad at other times. From what I’ve seen most brands are very similar. Personally I use a mud style with deep lugs. They are sipped which is very good for ice. In another comment we talk about traction control which is something that people driving in snowy conditions should be aware of. Sorry it’s so long of a response.

It’s just cold now, lol hopefully it warms up and more snow comes. After year after year of less and less snow as a lifetime Alaskan I can say it feels great to see it pile up.

They made a great effort and a lot of roads are improved. While I’m thankful for that I still feel their negligence is dangerous and definitely not what we pay for. Taxes seem pointless at this point, I think they go towards government assistance, period.

Saw your rant about Traction control! Haha relate to that very much in Canada. But what you were talking about with clutch based diffs exsist and are called Tourque Vectoring Differentials. And interestingly enough, if you have a newer car, traction control typically breaks the wheel with no grip to allow power to go to tge wheel with grip! But yeah in winter it can kill momentum. But nonetheless it should do what you were talking about if youve got a car made after 2010ish

2008 RAV4 couldn’t turn it off and I literally got stuck on one inch, the traction control would put some kind of clutch on and the engine would just rev. I’ve done lots of driving with different dif’s. My 2022 4Runner sucks for doughnuts with the TC double off it still comes on. I got stuck in 3’ of snow 4 low diff locked and it warned about traction control being disengaged but as soon as the tires spun it showed itself to be a liar. LOL I don’t want to give up my freedom for morons safety. New cars suck! I love my 4Runner but it could of been so much more.

Thank you for saying it in a real way, it actually seems like a comment for raising up instead of the usual lowering. I think the problem is not enough people speak up so I don’t know my audience. Different people around me and I adjust, I think most do. Since I don’t feel challenged your words could be effective.

You ought to buy my sled. Anchorage might be a great spot to poach some illegal rides. If their not gonna plow? Po po can't catch you. If it gets bad enough? Might be the only way to get around? Or snowshoes. You could get a 10ft dump. Solar minimum.
