  • This looks really nice. I've owned a lot of Toyota's and a couple of Lexus's and I do love the new Trundra AND the F150 but comparing the stated or claimed MPG's isn't really what matters; it's how it performs in the real world. My buddy has a '21 F150 Powerboost and he's never able to achieive the claimed 24MPG avg, it's usually 20 MPG. He loves it otherwise, and it is very nice even in Lariat trim with all the upgrades (digital dash, large screen, B&O, nice leather). I've always been a fan of Toyota (other than between approx 2000 - 2015 or so when they decided they were so big they could get away with being the GM of Japan and dropped their philosophy of making top notch interiors with high quality, soft touch materials everywhere in favor of scratchy, hard plastic interiors...RIP legendary Toyota quality) and I think this is a really competitive truck. But, to me the F150 seems like a better overall value. At the car show in Jan I sat in both and my tallish frame (6'3" 190-195 lbs) fit the Ford much better. It wasn't for lack of room, it was the seats. The Ford has uber-comfy seats and the Toyota felt like all recent Toyotas, meaning the seats were just meh. Even in Platinum trim, the seat bottom was too short and the cushion too firm. The F150 felt plush and supportive, like it would be perfect for a road trip. It's also quicker and the B&O systems are better than JBL. Kind of makes me sad that Toyota isn't my go-to anymore, but they lost me a long time ago.

    @mholmes9262@mholmes92622 жыл бұрын
    • How are you comparing Toyota with Ford? What are you talking about the Toyotas from 2000 - 2015 aren't good? Got a 05 tundra and an 06 got a 2013 Camry and a 2020 Lexus gx460 never had an issue except the secondary air injection system. 500$ fix. I got friends with 2018-2020 f150s with the Ecoboost. They have spent a lot of the time back and forth to the shop. They are getting 12-14 mpg. My 06 tundra is way more reliable, it will still be running in 20 years. Their Ecoboost will be sitting at the junkyard along with your 2022 Ford by then. I don't worry about chip shortages, the vehicles I got will be around for a while

      @israelmex888@israelmex8882 жыл бұрын
    • @@israelmex888 The Tundra competes directly with the F150, why wouldn't you compare the two? Long term reliability would likely go to the Toyota but what's the point when it's not comfortable to be in? I wouldn't be able to keep it long enough to appreciate the dependability because I hate the seats. We still have our old family hauler 2013 Toyota Sienna (kids are mostly out of the house now but wife insists we keep it for the occasional road trip) and I have the same complaint about it...not enough thigh support for taller people (6'3") and it's extremely uncomfortable on long trips. Lexus is a different story, very comfortable...but they don't make a truck. The F150 seats are fantastic, plus you can get it optioned with massagers if you want to, but even the leather seats in the Lariat trim are supremely comfortable, you don't have to get the top trim. Get the 5.0 V8 if you don't trust the eco-boost. Or go with the Tundra if you love it, makes no difference to me. I just prefer the Ford.

      @mholmes9262@mholmes92622 жыл бұрын
    • @@israelmex888 And yeah, the 2002(ish)-2015(ish) Toyotas in general are a major step backward in interior quality compared to previous and subsequent generations. I don't know your age but I'm late 40's and in the 90's, Toyota's were essentially less expensive Lexus's with similar quality materials and luxury. They cheaped out during the Jim Press years and it showed up in the form of hard plastics everywhere, snap on frankenstein interior pieces that rattled over bumps, thinner carpets and lower quality leathers. They've gotten better in the last 5-7 yrs but after our 2004 Sienna fell apart starting around 2010 when the spot welds in the doors all started coming undone and the sliding doors were dragging against the body we limped it along for a couple years then replaced it with the '13 Sienna because my wife wanted to stay with Toyota and the '13 is Toyota-reliable but uncomfortable and very cheaply made inside. The Interior is probably the worst in Toyota's history. Two in a row, and Toyota wouldn't stand behind either of them. I'm kinda over Toyota's now. I'm waiting on a Tesla Model 3 Performance (late April delivery) at the moment and my wife will be getting a new car in the next 6 months or so and it probably won't be a Toyota this time.

That works out to be about a 25% savings in mpg, that is 1000 Fill ups to break even. • The 5.7 lacked power compared to its competitors, it was a good engine, but 360hp and 380lbft of torque is underpowered for a full sized pickup truck now, GMs 6.2 V8, Fords 3.5 ecoboost, Rams Hemi and their new 3.0L I6, are all so powerful, they all have like 450hp and 500lbft, Toyota needed to make a more fuel efficient engine that is much more powerful, you get almost 600lbft of torque with the IForceMax why are you complaining about the way less powerful V8 being gone?

Keep in mind these high trim trucks never make it to the dealer lot - they are presold as they go into build. I doubt it will dethrone the f150 or domestic trucks, but that wasnt Toyota's plan. • This truck is no different than the 1794 edition. Like it doesn’t have 1 thing the 1794 does not have.

    • Semi-aniline leather (Lexus LS level), auto running boards, open pore real wood, ambient lighting, acoustic sound deadening glass, 22 inch wheels, painted wheel flares….do u want me to list more? No 1794 does not have any of these

  • Okay stop calling it “Lexus” truck and just start Talking about Toyota and high-quality. Calling it a lexus is taking away from the fact that it’s a luxurious high quality toyota. We have to start associating Toyota with high-quality vehicles like this

    • @@MilesPerHr I'm not super confident in that since Toyota has said that some quality concerns will essentially go ignored to be able to get trucks to customers and there are already examples of that happening.
