100 years Old Steamer Trunk / Chest Restoration. This little chest was a nuisance in itself. More than 1000 nails were used to reinforce and decorate it. In a way, it was redone.
There is also a small concert in the video :)

Beautiful restoration. My great-grand parents brought their possessions from Ireland in trunks just like that one. The adults were allowed a full size trunk each and each child got a half-sized trunk. They brought a total of nine steamer trunks.
Thank you very much 😊🤗
I wouldn't call this a restoration, I would call it a reconstruction. Impressive work.
Agreed!
Yup. A ship of Theseus if ever there was one. Fun to watch for sure
According to the Oxford Dictionary Restoration: the act of restoring something to a former or original condition. To repair, reconstruct, refurbish, rebuild. Therefore mission accomplished. And beyond that he has helped reduce landfill by restoring a piece most of us would never have imagined attempting to do.
@@ihatepavelbureto be a ship of Theseus ALL of its original components need to have been replaced. Therefore this project does not fit the description
I subscribe to your channel because you do a lot of (in my opinion) extreme and multi skill restorations and makeovers. The concert and peek into your life is definitely an appreciated bonus 🙂
You are very kind 😊 Thank you very much for your subscription and liking 😊🤗🙏
Wonderful craftmanship. Embellishments are everything on those steamer trunks. My only criticism is the wallpaper on the outside and whatever you used for the lining. That should've been fabric. The right choices there would've elevated it to a super luxe piece.
The addition of the paper was spot on. The design emulated the pattern of the original lining of the chest, but on a somewhat larger scale. Quite a statement piece, and one can see that styling being used today.
Absolutely brilliant restoration 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 But sorry not a fan of the blue wallpaper on the outside…maybe a more muted paper, similar to the original colors on the ends of the outside & back?
Thank you very much for your comments 😊🤗
He is not singing for his supper, instead a painted table. Thank you. I thought I wasn't going to like that trunk but it turned out beautiful.
Thank you very much 😊🤗
A dear friend had a chest at the foot of his guest room where I often stayed. Now he is gone,he always had a mildew scent he did not know how to remove but he lives again in this video for some reason. How he would have loved to see this restored piece. Thank you. It is wonderfully engrossing to see it come alive again. Stay well my friend who.
Thank you very much for your comments :)
wow, you really gave that old trunk some beautiful new life. Steamer trunks have amazing stories and are such beautiful pieces of furniture/storage. I love your work and I am glad KZhead slapped you on my recommendations!
Thank you :)
Wow what an amazing transformation 👍 watching you fill all those old nail holes I imagine would have taken some time. I liked all the finishing touches. Concert sounded great also. Well done my friend 👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much my dear friend 😊 Yes, it took quite a while. I don't want to hammer nails for a long time 😁🤗🙏
I wasn't sure there for awhile you were going to be able to save the wood. Excellent job.
Thank you :)
Fabulous makeover.
Absolutely incredible restoration of this beautiful steamer trunk. I used to have 3. Two round top and one flat top. They were 100 yrs old and in like new condition except they needed new locks. Brings back fond memories. ~Kevin
Thank you very much, dear Kevin 😊🤗
That was pretty brutal dismantling of the trunk, but the finished effect was very good!
Thank you very much :)
It's absolutely amazing that it's possible do renovate it so well and reuse so much of the original material.
Magnifique, la mallette et le chanteur. Merci de nous introduire à vôtre culture.
Merci beaucoup 😊🤗
Thank you for sharing both your hard work and the music of my culture....shat shnorhakalut’yun.
Thank you 😊🤗
This project is cool. I was not sure how it would turn out, but you NAILED it! 😃
Hahah, thank you mate :)
I have one in similar condition that has the original tooled leather wrap under the metal straps it is totally shrunk and brittle. Can’t decide whether to replace the leather or just refinish the wood and repaint the metal straps
Great Stuff. Enjoyed the oud music.
Thank you 😊🤗
This was a joy to watch! A Master craftsman at work, bringing new life to a well loved, well worn treasure.
Thank you 😊🤗
As you realise it's not restoration to Original I have to say you have done a excellent job awesome McCormack and Son,s Restorations Qld Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you very much :)
Vay vay vay. Amcam çok ii sölemiş. Emeğine sağlık usta. Türk olduğunu bilmeden takibe başladım. Bana büyük sürpriz oldu.
Teşekkür ederim 😊
How sweet you are to each other and a good trade. And as usual, you are a stickler for details
I have a very similar trunk but twice as big, used for traveling on a boat, on sea; so well done. The craftmanship of these is incredible, so many details and so solid. I have a blue one and a brown one.
Thank you :)
Excellent marksmanship
I would love to know what products/mixtures you used. The metal work is amazing. A shame some of the original features couldn't be salvaged but time marches on. Great job.
Thank you 😊🤗
That was a labor intensive restoration, bravo !👍
Thank you very much 😊🤗
I love the sawdust and glue combo. So have been keeping small amounts of the different coloured saw dust, in jars, so I never run out.. ha ha ha
The trunk looks amazing, and tell Isa thankyou for the lovely concert
Thank you very much 😊
Hey RM That is a lot of nails..I bet your forearms were sore... haha Definitely a very strong chest. Your friend's song was nice. Take care my Friend
Thank you very much dear Tim 😊 Yes, my arms hurt. I hit my finger on the hammer a few times too 😁 Sorry for the late reply. Take care of yourself 🤗
@@Restomaniac Oh my gosh, I did not think about how many times you might have hit your fingers...odds are that it happened quite a bit, ouch😉 No worries on the time my friend, it took me a few days to watch it. Take care and hello to MrsRM

Great work but shame about the wallpaper.
Not you to lie at first I was like this guy just ruined that but wow what an out come well done looks amazing
Thank you :)
Hello from France Nice restoration. Used this trunk for an air trip, it's sure to have to pay a supplement for the excess weight of your luggage lol🤣🤣🤣
Haha, you are right 😅
This is the best trunk restoration on the internet!! Wish there were more to see!
Thank you so much :)
An interesting restoration with a bonus concert? I hope you get your subscribers 😊
Thank you very much :)
Nicely done. Ready for another 100 years.
Thank you very much 😊🤗
Impresionante. ¡Buen trabajo!
I really liked your work so much, congratulations! But as for the wallpaper, I think it could have been different, keeping the old ferry trunk style. Still, it was really cool!
Un buen y bonito trabajo 👌👍🇪🇸🌿
Beautiful music, and beautiful work. Always great work from you.
Thank you very much :)
Wow the restoration was beautiful and perfect, congratulations. I like the song thanks for posting! 💜 💜 💜
Thank you very much dear Marcia 😊🤗

Emeğine ve eline sağlık... Ayrıca udiye ve sesine de teşekkürler...
Teşekkür ederim Eralp Bey 😊
Magnifique !
Merci beaucoup 😊🤗
You did a great job, but you should have put hessian underneath the metal strips and not wall paper. The wall paper would have been great on the inside. I saw another box just like this one restored and it had leather strips on it as well pity about that. It does not look finished.
Nota 1000.
Strong men to load these all day, every day!
Looks very nice. I always bore out the internal bore, they are always a problem. Good call
Thank you :)
Estou sem palavras Magnifico 👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷😁
Obrigado 😊🤗
LOVED the concert! The trunk is very nice now!
Thank you very much 😊🤗
Amazing job,! Excellent detail. The concert was a nice touch.!

Thank you :)
Beautiful restoration Resto good job well done
Thank you very much dear Vince 😊🤗
I have a trunk like this. It was my Grandmother's she came to America from Hungary, now I know what to do with it. Thank You
Thank you 😊🤗
Great job. I have an old metal trunk. You have inspired me to restore it.
Thank you 😊
You had me at handtools and a measured amount of elbow grease!
Especially loved the music at the end. Thank you.
Thank you :)
As always, the restoration work is perfect, my sincere congratulations. One final question: I am Lebanese and I immediately recognized the lute whose sound is beautiful and in Isa's hands it sounds wonderful, but I cannot distinguish the language in which he sings. Is it feasible that it be in Turkish language? Congratulations to Isa for his voice. Thank you very much in advance for answering. Greetings.
Thank you very much 😊 I am Turkish, and Mr. Isa sings in Turkish 😊
✅ - I have recently dined at a Turkish restaurant ~ similar style/genre of music they were playing on the audio-speaker system with 🇹🇷 lyrics & additional singers, instruments 😉🇬🇧
I love the restoration of the trunk!
Thank you :)
Not a restoration but a remake. Still, a nice finished product
Belle réalisation ! Bravo… 🇫🇷
Merci beaucoup :)
Kolay gelsin....
That is fantastic BUT i thought you would have preserved the entire inner "wallpaper"! and it is reconstruction. AND is it really worth effort. Size is really small etc.
GREAT WORK AND GREAT RESULTS!!!
Thank you 😊🤗
Brilliant…hats off 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks 😊

So much work, but well worth it....excellent ❤
Thank you 😊🤗
LOOKS GREAT, NICE WORK...
Thank you very much Bob 😊
Lovely job.
Thank you very much Molly 😊🤗
I would love to know what language he was singing in! The instrument looked Romani. Your friend has a very soothing voice! You lost me on some points on what you reused. And what kind of material were those top strips? But I cannot argue with the beautiful results! Is this chest meant to be waterproof? I myself would have treated the cleaned bare wood with Thompsons water seal.
Thanks. My friend sings in Turkish. Thanks for your criticism.

I’m impressed. I thought the poor thing was only good for kindling.

Incredible 👏👍🏻
Love it. It's beautiful 😊
