THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SIMPLE NORWEGIAN! That's like a Finnish Lapplander who is a Hawaiian surfer. Or Swedish Uppsalan cowboy. Or Gotlandish vegan.
So the irony of a native German speaker singing the chorus more clearly then all of the native English speaking singers combined was not lost on me. And this has got to be the most accurate of all the covers. 100% Love!

I lost my Mother back in 2018. This song reminds me of her as well. She would want me to continue sailing to distant shores and not be sad that shes gone, but remember her and the good times always. Also, I love Vikings, and I should blare this while sailing in assassins creed Vallhalla because this is the first "Viking rock/metal song" that I think i've ever heard. Thanks for the upload Saltatio Mortis, love you guys! You got me through some dark times as well, and your music continues to touch me.
Damn. Now this is what I call effort. The set is great, the performances, they even practiced Norse and sang it nicely, and they did all that from a verse in a poem... Plus bagpipes.

yes I wondered if I maybe just missed it. I am over seven decades of time old and I have heard this both when young and so much more now in this age. I unfortunately have been to battle although not on a ship. Sounds kinda lame now but it is magnificent when my grandkids hear it. Yes I’ll admit to telling the tale although I am reluctant to relive it. I think people where stronger then (yes call me a nasty name if you want) I don’t wish to relive those harsh lives but there is an aspect of that lifestyle that draws these folks like i once was. seen them live two days ago at metalfest, tschecia; this song in particular was so amazing. immagine, if you can, an old roman amphitheatre, and where the accoustics of the place throw back the sound of the ranks and the stage alike. being in the moshpitt for this band (and this song in particular) was one of the most amazing things of the festival, only topped by the moshpitts of gloryhammer and dalriada (an amazing band i had never heard of before, check them out)
I've seen them a couple of months back in Germany and although the location was not that spectacular, the show indeed was.

learning about Vikings right now for my book series I'm working on one of my characters comes from a line of Vikings and are werewolves. I love Saltatio Mortis music i may not understand some of the lyrics, but the rhythm is so good.

Hypa Hypa ist auf der MMXX-Hypa Hypa Edition von Eskimo Callboy erschienen und wurde dafür auch aufgenommen.
Aber wenn Coveralbum dann nur im vikinger style und mittelalter, denn das ist was saltatio mortis ist. nicht dieser hype zum poppigen. das letzte Album war ok, aber es war nicht mehr die Band, die sie einst war.
@@88lycana Das neue Album ist auch Saltatio. Zeiten, Menschen und Bands verändern sich nunmal. Ich für meinen Teil mag alle Facetten der Band.
