Most of Scotland’s political parties seem to be lining up against him. But the First Minister insists he won’t be resigning before the two no confidence votes that are likely to happen next week.

@@tamferguson3891 you might not think he's done good things, but I think the Scottish government have done well. Very few strikes compared to the rest of the UK. Unlike Westminster, Holyrood has virtually zero borrowing powers so it has to operate a balanced budget approach. If Scots want to keep things like free bus travel for young people or free university tuition the extra money has to come from somewhere. There aren't council tax freezes in England you know, so your "nothing to alleviate taxation" is garbage. Nevertheless, governments can make mistakes, it's not normal for first ministers or governments to just resign half way through a parliamentary term for no reason other than people like you want them to.

The tax freeze is a smoke-screen as cost of living is becoming quite alarming. And whilst they say freeze, the SNP gave powers and responsibility to the local authorities themselves who have steadily increased taxation every year without fail. University Tuition is not free ... Its called Studen Loans and your Fees are part of that ... maybe if your a foreign student you get it free as the Universities get kick-backs but not for working families or if you will, the vast majority. Mr Yousef has brought nothing new to the table -- has yet to deliver on existing agreements and is in fact reneging on many. What he has given us is a Hate Crime Law that is so vage, oppressive and open to interpretation that any would be despot would be salivating. Despite the failings, massive amounts of money that has been squandered, poverty increases of over 10%, a struggling health service, £2.7 bn unaccounted for, votes of no confidence and new laws with policing powers that can be used to prevent opposing opinion & potentially empower those with an axe to grind -- after all that he has the audacity to say he wont resign even if called to do so? Truly Terrifying! And you assumed I was calling for him to resign ... my initial statement was regarding his refusal to resign and my point being that We; the little people, have no such luxury in this ever increasing totalitarian state.
@@tamferguson3891 sorry, but you're wrong. Scottish students studying in a Scottish university get free tuition. Student loans cover rent and living expenses. Laws are all quite vague. If more details are needed we can add to them. We'll have to give it time to see how it works in practice, free speech is still protected, but that doesn't mean you can say whatever you want without consequence. It's always been how societies operate. You, the little people can vote at the next election, whenever that comes about. And you do have the right not to resign if you have done nothing wrong, except when your employer begins a formal redundancy process.

Even if he resigns, the SNP may have trouble getting re-elected at the next Scottish elections. However, if the SNP vanished tomorrow, there would still be a steady 40-50% support for independence, and another independence Party would step forward to fill the role the SNP is currently fulfilling.
