Something no country in the world can do. Not to mention you invade countries on a whim to serve your interests. Literally, have your finger dipped in every single conflict since WWII. The neocons only go after small and weak countries to change their presidents and steal their resources, like iraq, libya, syria, now venezuela, they couldn't even handle vietnam, another ridiculous endeavor in which 1.3M people, mostly very poor civilians, died for exactly nothing.

  • I’m an American that has done business in over 25 countries and am always amazed by little Americans understand about the rest of the world. The idea that the Chinese are going to change to be like us is absolutely crazy. Their economic model is solidly rooted in Confucius principles. They value the ‘group’ - not the ‘individual’. Their economic model reflects those values. As others have noted late in the video, we should look inward as to all the ways that we could adapt and improve. Our biggest issue is our neoliberal economic model that values the immediate short-term shareholder goals each and every quarter at the expense of everything else. It’s a trillion dollars in stock buybacks from a misguided tax cut that could have been used to instead invest in cutting edge futuristic products and services. But instead, it props up the stock price, which drives an executive’s bonus, even though they didn’t anything to earn it. The Chinese are actually doing it right since they are focused on creating real value. It’s the Americans that need to change.

  • Trump was right about one thing; these free trade deals were never about free trade. They were about free investment. MFN status for China has meant that American corporations can relocate their American plants to China where most of the production will take place and then send the finished goods to America. If we also sold American-made finished goods to China like our politicians led us to believe then it would be free trade. But America mostly sells raw materials to China that will be used to make the finished products imported to the US. It was all done in the name of profit maximization. And in many cases, prices for these goods did not decrease.

    • To do this you need to start deregulating and having a deeper look in government blockers if you want manufactures back in America. Here is an example of what I mean: If regulations force manufactures to pay more for production raising said market value product from $4.00 to $16.00 then said regulation probably needs amending because nobody is going to buy $16.00 worth of junk if $4.00 is standard price. This $16.00 issue also goes into perception of labor pay because people might think the company is making 4x profit when in reality they are really making $0.50 profit per sale because of existing government demanded costs which leaves little growth in paychecks and when Unions decide to rise because of perceived growth and be denied because of reality. They will strike and force a massive loss to the manufacture. This loss in labor participation combined with rising government enforced costs and shrinking market sales due to high priced products will lead to manufactures leaving or closing down again. So it at least all starts with government deregulation or restructure of regulations to begin with.

    • Vice Montel it is the personal greed of big business and politicians who sell us out. China requires technology transfer to do business there and that transfer of technology plays a big part in our deficits. They take that technology to build their own products, apply tariffs to our products that’s for sale making our goods expensive there while we take in their goods with very low tariffs and sell it cheaply here.

      @jai6491@jai64913 жыл бұрын
    • @@jai6491 Yes they do and it is a huge issue that our government has allowed to occur, knowingly, by both sides. The only way to have stopped this is to push back with companies that deal with China, but it's already too late for that. IMO We can't do much to China because we, under the last 30 years, built China's economy from our own pockets and they used the money to make more money with other nations. The ship has sailed on stopping China economically if the other powers that be do not agree with stopping them and they don't because China already owns huge ports in those countries and has secured itself politically in the U.N. That's what I talked about having our government start with itself because honestly we can't do much to China anymore since both political parties opened their doors to Chinese offers.

  • China will provide cheap labor and build amazing building for your company in exchange for Forced technology transfer (FTT) Which means that when a foreign company wants to enter the Chinese market, it has to surrender its technology to Chinese companies through a joint venture agreement, or in some cases regulations.

    • awashlv A If you want the mouth watering steak on display in the supermarket, you pay for it. Is it a forced payment. Yes, if you do not pay, you do not get. But nobody ever says "Walmart forces me to give money in exchange for the steak!" Unless he wishes to malign Walmart. Do you call the transaction FMT forced money transfer, you China basher.

    • @@jiaxiangchen6743 Forced technology transfer (FTT) is a practice in which a domestic government forces foreign businesses to share their tech in exchange for market access. ... When a company wants to enter the Chinese market, the Chinese government can compel the firm to share its technology with Chinese companies. So that's a fact, but it's the company's fault for allowing it and accepting the deal.

      @awashlv@awashlv4 жыл бұрын
    • You can not called it force transfer if you walk away from the business dealing. You can keep your technology and set up a factory at home, which create jobs for American, a win for US economy. But the CEO has a duty to his shareholders and his own Christmas Bonus package. If you want his 25 million dollars bonus and expand and maintain the level of competition, he/she needs to reduce cost for a MUCH higher profit margin. This is basic economic 101 if you every took at any college level. Of course this will be at the expanse of America jobs and competitive edge in the long strategic plan. Unless you turn the clock back 200 years ago where America grow at the expense of slavery, where every white man had their filling of coins in the pocket while the slaves get whip for not working hard enough. Thank God

  • Decoupling is the right strategy. In the long run it will pay off. A lot of people who are favouring continued investment of Chinese money in tech companies have vested interests. No one can say with absolute confidence that there is no ulterior motive of Chinese to get ownership of the technology being developed. However, de coupling should also go hand in hand with domestic govt to reform and find ways to support tech innovation thru domestic funding. Being an Indian and working in manufacturing industry I have seen first hand Chinese intrusion in Indian economy. I think this narrative of mutual devp is not that accurate. China is not a democracy, it is not transparent n govt can manipulate every information that comes out of china even to the level of officials talkin about mutual development like they do here in this doc. Indians for sure don't trust china even for a sec

    • As the Chinese believe, “Patience is the ultimate virtue - and the only enduring standard of measure - of whomever purportedly considers himself a stable genius - supposedly even a Godsend.” Charles Darwin would have intelligently attributed China’s long history in effective civil administration - based on institutional meritocracy - to the versatility of Chinese civilizational statecraft. Evolutionary predominance is determined by the survivors - through time and tide. Not by empty vessels. If the “free market” owes its success to layers upon layers of “trade secrets”, how do the average consumers make rational *informed decisions? Average consumers are made cannon fodder of Capitalist predators - in the escalating trade war. According to the father of liberal economics, consumer interests should rule the free market. Adam Smith: ON THE DIVISION OF LABOUR… 1. It is the maxim of every prudent master of a family, never to attempt to make at home what it will cost him more to make than to buy…What is prudence in the conduct of every private family, can scarce be folly in that of a great kingdom. …AND TRADE SPECIALISATION 2. By means of glasses, hotbeds, and hotwalls, very good grapes can be raised in Scotland, and very good wine too can be made of them at about thirty times the expense for which at least equally good can be brought from foreign countries. Would it be a reasonable law to prohibit the importation of all foreign wines, merely to encourage the making of claret and burgundy in Scotland? ON COMPETITION… 3. In general, if any branch of trade, or any division of labour, be advantageous to the public, the freer and more general the competition, it will always be the more so. 4. Consumption is the sole end and purpose of all production; and the interest of the producer ought to be attended to, only so far as it may be necessary for promoting that of the consumer. …AND THE DISTORTION OF TRADE 5. To widen the market and to narrow the competition, is always the interest of the dealers… The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it.

Dear fat guy, If both parties gain something is not predatory, predatory would be exploiting China to build your stuff then discarding it after you don't need it anymore without giving something in return, that's predatory (and it's exactly what western companies do with third world countries).

I doubt it chinese companies(the state) didnt move production to america.... does america require chinese investors to come into a project with equal knowledge? Forcing a company to merge with one of yours to do business in your country and require them to hand over technologies to eventually set yourself up for no research expenditures is predatory. Once accomplished china will do whatever they can to make their product the most traded in their market and if possible foreign ones ultimately bankrupting other already struggling companies and reign supreme economically.
