Great Video.! One question, Can you first buy a Half Fare Card.... and then buy a Swiss Travel Pass at 50% ? Thank you!
No. They are both separate and do not help each other in any way
Hi Thank you for your beautiful presentation, Could you please let me know how to upgrade 2nd class to 1st classes for a specific trip like to Interlaken from Lucerne, I am an Australian and vising Switzerland for 8 days and already purchased a Swiss travel pass, 2nd class, Thank you
You have to buy an 1st class upgrade ticket for that leg - from the machine, ticket office, website or sbb app.
Do you recommend the Berner Oberland pass at all? Do you recommend using it with the half fare card?
Yes. If it works for your itinerary.
Wow, this is super confusing! So if I start in Geneva and ride to Interlaken and do a few mountain lifts around Lauterbrunnen and then ride to Munich, what do u recommend I buy? I’ll be in Switzerland for a total of 5-6 days. Thanks for any advice!
It is. That is the problem. Like choosing a car. In your case you also have to consider the eurail. Ut half fare is likely your best option. But you have to write down all the costs. One by one. It’s complicated. Thats why i have a service for it. No easy answers. Everyone is different. Every itinerary different
Thanks for your video! Can I purchase all my train tickets selecting the half fare card option, 3 months in advance using the SBB app? I do not have a half fare card but I will purchase it in 3 months when I get to the train station. OR do I need to have already purchased the HFC before purchasing trading tickets at the HFC price?
Well you can buy the half fare now too. Online. But yes your method should work. All your tickets just need to be valid when you travel
Yes, but purchasing a HFC for the first time online looks like a lot of extra work in terms of having to upload documents to verify myself. I think it will be easier to do this in person. It’s good to know that I don’t need to attach an active HFC number when booking train tickets in advance.
@@catherineim2431 have you tried through these guys, I partner with them and did not know it was so difficult www.getyourguide.com/lucerne-l867/swiss-half-fare-card-t574987/?partner_id=EFPVQI5&cmp=half-fare-card&deeplink_id=dce3b16e-81a4-5ea7-b2ae-08eb3d2b9648&page_id=8efb9104-6ddd-52b0-8853-4b846123cb1a
Going to Switzerland end of Aug. We start in Zurich stay for 3 nights, then into Interlaken as based staying for 5 nights. Then onward to Lucerne for two nights. Then cross into Italy. I am planning to buy a half fare card and Bernese Oberland pass. Is this passes I plan to buy good for the places we have to visit in Switzerland ?
Sounds like solid choices
Hello, for only 2-days trip and plan to go to Interlaken-based places (Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Jungfrau) which pass is the right one?
Unfortunately the answer is not that simple. Depends "exactly" how many trains you catch, from/to, how many days total ttravel, which mountains you go to etc. That is why I have a service for it. switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/?swcfpc=1 You can calculate it yourself, go to all the websites and get the prices. Plus there are 4 passes that are relevant to that exact trip you talk about. So it is nearly impossible for me to give you an answer just like that. Sorry. If you want to look at my service you can, its cheap for what I actually do, or you can watch my other video on "all" the train passes available. kzhead.info/sun/hpWEldyppV95ZYU/bejne.html
Hello. If I don’t take any pass. Are the prices of normal tickets tend to increase if I book on the day of travel or is it the same if I book 3 months in advance ?
There are what is called Super Saver tickets. You can watch my video on that here: kzhead.info/sun/gciFeadtiIB6oZs/bejne.html just be aware that they are one way and for a specific date/time so you need to know 100% what train you will take or can get to on time.
Do I need to link my Swiss Half Fare Card into SBB Apps ?
If you can. Easier to buy and travel
