1:22 people talking about the BRRRRTTTT on the A-10 Warthog but when you hear the Jericho Trumpet it’s all over.
Funnily enough, by the mid-war, the Jericho Trumpet had actually become a sort of joke amongst allied soldiers. Stukas had become so outclassed by allied fighters (and the Germans had lost air superiority by this point in the War over most combat fronts), hearing a Stuka generally indicated the death of the Stuka before they could actually deliver their payload.

f117 is not the only aircraft dared to fly over baghdad, Iranian brave pilots flew over baghdad several times with phantom f4's and almost without stealth abilities as f117 has!
Nice video. I would also recommend the Albatross D.III (1917) as a candidate for wrecking havoc among on the Western front before older types could be replaced and production of new planes accelerated. I also think the Ju-88 merits inclusion for being a tough and capable medium bomber during the Battle of Britain and later a very capable night fighter. Similarly the Fw-190A when introduced gave RAF pilots flying Spitfire Mk Vs a rude shock with its superior performance and firepower. The Bristol Beaufighter is one of those planes often overlooked, but was deadly in anti-shipping and ground attack. Later the Blackburn Buccaneer (1958) was a credible ultra-low flying threat to Soviet guided missile cruisers, and in Red Flag exercises proved formidable until the advent of look-down shoot-down radar systems, finally retiring in 1994.
The Albatross series were by far better aircraft than the Dr1. I've read that Richthofen complained loudly when his unit was switched from the Albatross D.V to the Dr1. They also omitted the Spad, flown by the US top ace Eddie Rickenbacker (among other top aces)

LOL, loved the Red Skull, Darth Vader, Phantom of the Opera, and Maverick touches. And the Top Secret! movie reference is brilliance. Most underrated comedy ever.
the sopwith camel was "best known" for being more dangerous to its pilot than its adversary. the propellor was attached to the engine block which rotated about a fixed crankshaft. this meant the engine could be air-cooled and pump it own oil. it also meant that the craft had a maaaaaasive angular momentum issue on the roll axis. when you pulled back on the stick the craft would pull to the right and roll right. a lot of new pilots crashed in training upon takeoff. it was also horrendously asymmetrical handling which went on to be exploited in dogfighting.
"Most deadly aircraft of their time" Goes as: *Germany, Germany, Britain, USA, Germany, Germany, USA, germany, germany, Britain, USA, USA, ger..., ma.... ,ny....*
@Plague Doctor My man, they built the Me 262 on the final months of the war, they were almost done with the prototype development of the Ho 229 aswell, they would have gotten nuclear tech in just a few years if the war didn't end, as Einstein himself wrote a letter to the US warning them that he feared nazi scientists were uncovering the process of splitting the atom. Don't bullshit yourself by saying they had more brains because of their resources, they were almost dry on oil and rare metals, and they still managed to build the first jet aircraft ever, managed to do research on advanced stealth aircraft and almost got into nuclear power. You may ask "How are you certain that they would have nukes in just a few years?" 1: They already had the V2 rocket that could deliver the bombs. 2: Most of the american research team that produced the first atomic bomb was composed of captured german scientists. As well as their first orbit-worthy rocket. 3: We are talking about germans.
@@alanwatts8239 There were no captured German scientists on the Manhattan project. That is Operation Paperclip, which occured after the German surrender and only a month of before the successful Trinity nuclear test. There were a bunch of Jewish refugees on that Manhattan project though, from nations like Hungary, Germany and Poland. Enrico Fermi was Italian but his wife was Jewish and he fled to the US because of her. A big reason why the Nazi's never developed the bomb and weren't going to was because the Allies went to a lot of effort to sabatage their efforts. Plus, the German scientists were wrong about a lot when it came to nuclear fission. In spite of your belief in German superscience, they were wrong as often as anyone else. They never figured out that graphite could be used as a neutron moderation because they never bothered to test ultra pure graphite. The thing that captured German scientists help with was the US space program. A lot of our efforts up until the Space Shuttle could be traced directly to former Nazi Germany scientists, like Wernher Von Braun
@Plague Doctor You don't even have one, you just didn't notice it yet.
@Plague Doctor Just go home buddy
@Plague Doctor you know nothing lol
No harrier? They've been in service since the 60s and still going for some nations now. Seaharriers preformed exceptionally well in the falklands
James Swift They were an interesting idea but they were very inefficient, expensive to operate, and with their limited speed and fragile design, it didn’t hold up against the fighters of other nations. The ability to take off vertically was practical but it didn’t outweigh the sacrifices made to allow for it.
@@enriquesaggese2819 So the F-35B mustn't hold up either then as it shares those limitations and adds even more. The Harrier was not a fighter aircraft but it achieved one of the highest kill ratios in a conflict, not bad for a strike aircraft.
@@54356776 Indeed. The Harrier had multiple roles but the main ones were close air support for ground troops, bombing and then air to air if needs be. The best fact of the Harrier was the need for smaller aircraft carriers, given the vertical take off and landing design. "Fragile" seems to have been plucked from thin air as that has never been said about it, ever. The reason it couldn't go supersonic is because it was a flying brick, heavy, well built and not very aerodynamic because of its huggge intake for the Pegasus engine and the position of the nozzles to give it stability in hover and decent. The F-35B is insanely complicated, compromised and what can only be described as "Throwing money at the problem without any inspiration behind it"......
Also, no EE Lightening.....

It would be nice to see some non US or USSR planes after 1945. Some of the most prollific aircraft of the Cold War were neither US or USSR. The Cold War wasn't the US vs USSR, but a complex net of relationships between East and West, and sometimes between East and East and West and West (conflicts like the Falklands War for example occuring during these years) The French Dassualt Mirage were extremely popular aircraft around the world. Israel famously used them to great effect against their Arab-State neighbours, regarding them as the finest combat jet in existence. The British / German / Italian Panavia Tornado was one of the most advanced ground attack platforms in existence during the late cold-war, directly built to destroy invading Soviet tank formations if a war was to break out. These fine minds then went on the build the Eurofighter Typhoon, perhaps the greatest pre-Stealth era Combat Jet Aircraft, in use with countless countries with over 500 built. How about the British V bombers? The Avro Vulcan was perhaps the single greatest strateigic bomber of it's time, so advanced that the Americans employed use of them. They were able to directly "nuke" the US in wargames, completely making a fool of the US air defence system. Hell, the British were leaders in Jet Aircraft development until the late 1950s. The Hawker Hunter, Meteor, Vampire, Attacker, these were all pioneering and outclassed anything else for their day.

The Swedish SAAB 35 Draken could have been here, it was the first in many ways, like being the first supersonic delta wings jet fighter in western europe, also was the first plane to be able to do the cobra manouver, the SAAB 37 Viggen could have also been here, it was easy to repair with little to no experience/crew, could take off very short runways and longer roads, engines could be changed in an hour, and it was a little slower than the MiG-21s but it was the mosyt advanced fighter jet in europe.
I think the sr-71 blackbird deserves a spot on the list. It may not have any offensive capabilities, but it’s insane speed and stealth made it invincible. Definitely one of the most feared aircraft ever.
I find it funny how they made the MiG 25 AND the MiG 31 specifically to take out the Blackbird but 1. They couldn’t reach the Blackbirds altitude and 2. Even if they shot a missile off the Blackbird would be able to outrun it.
@@juantwothree321 Even now it's unlikely any aircraft could reasonably threaten it. None of the current fighters even come close to its speed, and very few missiles could close the gap either. F-22s and F-35s could likely detect it, but not necessarily stop it.
@@juantwothree321actually you made all that up, the mig25 and 31 were never made to counter the sr71 😂, the mig25 was made to counter the xb70, stop making stuff up and the mig31 is just a modernized version of the 25. Learn some history so you don’t get caught in a lie again 😮
@@brodykloster2102 bullshit bruh they were both meant to take down the SR, seeing as nothing could take it down.
@@juantwothree321 uhhh go look it up for yourself lol 😂, I’m not lying just do some google searches. It’s not that hard to know the actual facts rather than just make stuff up and make yourself look stupid 😭
i like how people just talk about the A-10 and comepletely forget the early MiG-21's were not in this video
Thank you !
That’s 19th comment in this video i see someone says thank you...
I was looking so deep for this comment fr and f4u, p47, p38
Or even the F6F Hellcat. The plane with the highest kill ratio in history.
These sort of videos will never really be accurate.
It still amazes me to this day, that the P-51 could go toe-to-toe with the Me-262, makes me cry
Any plane could go toe to to with an me 262, most kills came when the me262 was either landing, taking off or had lost all of its energy. In all of these scenarios anything could take it on as it's slow and unmanouveravle
But me 109 was the strongest german plane of ww2

Let’s look at #’s of units in service on the stealth fighters. F-22(≈185), F-35 (≈600), J-20(≈200), and SU-57 (22). The US is in pretty good shape if you ask me.
I love how its all planes, and the Apache
AmazingViz, you forgot one aircraft in WWII: The F4u Corsair. A life-saver for American and Allied soldiers and sailors in the Pacific, it was feared by the Japanese due to its brute ruggedness, speed, firepower, and a horrendous shriek in a fast dive that earned it the nickname "Whistling Death."
and maybe also Republic P47 Thunderbolt
And the P-38 lighting
If any it was the Hellcat, because it was the first US plane to be superior to the Zero. By the time the Corsair entered into widespread service the Air War over the Pacific was already won, with the Japanese having lost their best pilots to Flak, Wildcats, Hellcats and P-38s.
@@schnitzelblitz96 Yet, if you read aviation history, you will find the Corsair did more than just fight in the air. The USMC used it in close air support extensively both on the ground and in anti-shipping. Plus, don't forget that the Corsair dropped well over 12,000 tons of bombs through out the Pacific, and was tasked with fleet defense against kamikazes (which is why the Corsair was bestowed with the title "Defender of the Fleet"). Yes, the F6F Hellcat shot down more planes, yet it still was found wanting in some respects, like speed and rate-of-climb. Also, whenever the "Bent-winged Bastard" took to the skies, it was easier to recognize by both sides.
Stephen Roberts Well all fighters of the time did also do ground attack roles but of course the Corsair excelled in it. Dont get me wrong; the Corsair was a brilliant airplane and did a lot of valuable service to the USMC and - once they solved some of their landing problems - the USN but the war was won in the great Naval battles of Coral Sea, Midway and around Guadalcanal. And there it were Grummans Cats, the Torpedo Bombers and Dive Bombers that did the job. By the time the Corsair was introduced it wasnt a question of IF the US were to win the war but when and at what cost. And yes, the Corsair did a great job at assuring the latter was as low as possible plus it gave valuable service in Korea. But it simply didnt have that decisive impact as the Wild-/Hellcat or - on a different campaign - the Mustang. It is a beautiful bird though, absolutely.
The only one I might have added to the Late WWII era planes (1943-1945) was the Vaught F4U-1 Corsair. It achieved an 11:1 kill-ratio against the Japanese, mostly against the vaunted Mitsubishi Zero and, in its fighter-bomber role, dropped roughly 70% of the ordinance dropped by fighters in the Pacific Theater. In low-level attack runs, it had a weird propensity to give off a high-pitched sound as it swooped by; anecdotally, the Japanese gave it the nickname "Whistling Death."
The F4U was, if I remember correctly, the only US aircraft faster than the P-51. Apparently, it was a bitch to land one on a carrier, but the Marines flew the hell outa them.
Hellcat had a 19:1 in the same region against the same opponents and in fact is the highest kill ratio of any US plane
@@borsniel7767 True, and it was a beast. Not as cool to look at, though, imo. Definitely a workhorse with a nasty bite.

A timely nod. Looking forward to the cheese fest that movie will be. Will be there on opening night
@@Mugdorna The movie will indeed be a cheesefest (as was the original), but like the original, it looks like it has some fantastic footage of actual aircraft "doing their thing". I remember seeing the original in the theater when it was released and I barely cared about all the cheese and inaccuracies because it was visually stunning!
The maximum speed of the P51 Mustang was 440 mph, well above the 250mph shown.
type 4 hayate 446 hmm
I was going to say the same, then saw you'd beaten me too it :)
I love your Comp aration videos!
You missed the Convair B-36 Peacemaker. She wasn't produced in the same numbers as the B-29, but she was used heavily in the Korean War and the RB-36 was used for reconnaissance during the Cold War. "6 turning and 4 burning"

Along with the Lancaster and the spitfire
You guys excited for the tempest jet?

The British sea harrier was world renown in the Falkland's war an only a few dozen handled the entire Argentinian air fleet, truly a feared aircraft tbh.
Had the pleasure of seeing 3 A-10s land and take off during my early training days in the USAF. My favorite plane hands down. The Spooky is a close 2nd, it’s a Flying Fortress of doom.
