  • Tiger sharks bullying bait fish is always fun to watch. My GQ had the auto hubs, the only time i was in 4wd and not locked was when i was on firetrails to the harder stuff. On sand, mud, rocks i would manually lock them. You can make the autos manual fairly easy by pulling one of the bits out of it, found the video on youtube and did that to mine after breaking a piece doing bearings.

  • Wish I lived closer to K’gari, having just done K’gari end of last year and Moreton a couple years ago I found Moreton a lot quieter which was nice for relaxing and it had some great beach camping. K’gari though had alot more to do and explore, never realised how big it was, we didn’t even get to Ngkala rocks which I was spewing about ☹️ Both are bloody awesome though and should definitely be on any 4x4er’s trip list. Nice video mate 👍🏻

  • What a great vid! I always keep a spare hub for my GU, I have broke 3 and now carry a spare and always lock in when I need to be in 4wd. Don't be sorry for staying in a resort! Its a massive differnce to how good a trip is if your comfy. Looks like you have the best of both worlds, especially with the family in tow. Great video mate, can't wait to see whats next!

  • V8 100 Series is the best beach rig in my opinion. I have an 06 model which spends 2-3 months on the island as we have properties there. So comfortable and capable. Have done extractors, 3" system pretty much straight piped as the resonators kept rusting off and Unichip, dyno tuned to 98 with throttle booster.

  • Odd tip, We did a night bush walk, learnt that if you shine a torch across the bush and you get a shine back, it could be funnel web eyes. Didn't believe at 1st, and thought the ranger was taking the piss, but when I went to check it out, yep sure enough it was true. Have used this tip when camping near damp area's, Cape York was similar

  • We're regular attendees of K'gari. Now you know why. Have seen the sharks right up in the channels on the beach, makes you think about taking a dip, ha? Have seen the bait fish off of the western tip at sandy cape and when persued they head straight onto the sand (beach) then wait for a wave to refloat them. Easy bait gathering when that occurs not that I'm a fishing guy. Go in August and the whales just take all your attention away from anything else occuring, just love the place. Central Station is basically where loggers worked from, school etc for kids. Walgoogah Creek flows thru here and there is a board walk along it, so clear you don't believe it's got water in it, but the fast flow carries leaf litter and the occasional fish confirm the presence of water. Just prior to the walk there are trees specifically grown for ships masts way back when sailing ships were the go. They are smooth barked, straight as, excellent for purpose. Next visit, head to west coast, it's so awesome. Just so you know, there is a fenced camping area at Eli camping section suitable for kids, and an actual fenced camp with showers & flushing toilets run by National Parks and the camping fee is same as beach camping but hot shower is by coin slot. Moreton is not a patch on K'gari, ferry ride so friggin expensive, no access to resort, poor fauna & flora in comparison. Been to Morton once to experience it, been to K'gari every year since 2010, why, cause it is just superb, it's paradise, hence K'gari.
