The UK recently announced it is sending a further £300m of military aid to Ukraine, including electronic warfare equipment.
Simon Newton’s been looking at what might be the way, and why this so-called EW kit is so vital on the battlefield.

Growler is a USNavy aircraft.
CWS we had in the late 90s was a good piece of kit. Our Badge used it to scan harbour areas from 100s of yards away to see if people were smoking when they shouldn't be on Ex. 😂

Hope to see the US send them Tomahawks next, giving Ukraine the ability to attack targets including inside Russia over 1000km away while also being able to target naval targets are further distances, basically making anything in the black sea in range of being a target. And all at the cost of less then 2 million each.
@Just Myself yet ukraine has already attacked inside Russia, sunk multiple of their ships including the largest ship lost in battle since ww2, while using an American p8 for reconnaissance. What likely will cause ww3 is Russia invading another neighbor.

@Ro Herms Where to start with your comment... "Ukraine cant afford tomahawks, let alone have the time to field them. " They are getting all these weapons free... They even got harpoons which cost around the same price as tomahawks, less then 2 million each which is cheap. "They have no naval ships that can launch it, nor aircraft that can launch what few air launched tomahawks that are in reserve, as the air force retired the air version decades ago." The tomahawk was designed as a ground launched missile and only was stopped to do the INF, but since the US pulled out of the INF and already showed test launches of them being ground launched and unlocking their maritime strike capability, as it already had them both but were banned under the INF. It uses the BGM-109G Gryphon Transporter Erector Launcher. Which is how the US tested it so fast, they had them already. Now to devils advocate, how many do they have that we can give? That is a question only the army knows the answer too. "Ukraine has domestic missiles that can reach deep into Russia, they just need the raw materials and time to make them in bulk." No where near as accurate or with the same range, and as you stated they would need to build them, we have thousands of tomahawks ready to go to give them now. If we literally gave them 500, that is 1 billion dollars, that would change the course of the war in a day and would be nowhere the crazy 40 billion the US wants to give.

EA-18G Growler, not F18, and it is a US Navy expeditionary VAQ squadron, not the USAF.
EW is very important coupled with drones! It can will give chance to destroy Russian air defense systems

Ukraine will likely have British equipment for years to come due to the use of weapons, but it should be noted all missiles the U.K. has sent are the older 1st generation so the U.K. isn’t worried if the Russians get their hands on it due to old specs and no longer used even if the weapon is still in service the brimstone missiles that have been confirmed in ukraine are from 2001 and a lot of the components are not used in the brimstones produced today all the equipment is still top tier though it’s more about keeping maintenance costs down than shelf life no1 wants to become the pentagon that’s run out of storage space for its weapons lol

A lot of this kit works in tandem with other stuff the UK is sending which makes makes things very effective
As long as the Treasury provides the money to replace the kit we are sending.

@@linnetcooke5967 Yes they do. What I meant was twofold. First, that the funding comes from the Treasury's contingency fund and not the defence budget. Second, that they do actually replace the kit we have donated and don't just leave our armed forces short.

In a way it is good that the Russian War Budget was largely used to put into the private bank accounts of the people in charge of modernising the Army. They had a great time getting wealthy and then sending their conscripts into a war with outdated equipment.

I was listening to iForces earlier, didn’t realise we have old Tanks in storage, lets just get them all out to Ukraine on a lend lease agreement or whatever. Anything we have doing nothing in storage should just be sent out there now, the brave Ukrainians are fighting for peace in Europe, our peace and stability. Get it done.

What good is sending all this if the Ukrainian military can’t get it to the front lines when the weapons are just sitting ducks for Russian missile strikes after delivery of these vital machines?

The US Air Force does not have F/A-18s. The US Navy and USMC have F/A-18s.
technically the air force does have F/A-18s but they have the E/A-18 variant for electronic warfare. They are 390th Electronic Combat Squadron which supports the Navies VAQ-129 squadron. Source: "The 390th Electronic Combat Squadron is a United States Air Force unit. It is assigned to the 366th Fighter Wing at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho and stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. The 390th was constituted on 24 May 1943 as the 390th Fighter Squadron and assigned to the 366 Fighter Group. On 17 December 1943 the unit was moved to Membury England and began combat operations in the European Theater. Since this time the unit has flown over ten different aircraft including the F-51, F-86, F-4, F-111 and the F-15. In the late 90s the USAF retired its aging fleet of EF-111A's leaving the Air Force without a dedicated EA platform. While the Air Force's EA platform may have disappeared the need for electronic attack has not. Due to this fact, in 1995, the Office of the Secretary of Defense arranged an agreement with the Navy embedding USAF electronic warfare airmen in Navy EA-6B and now EA-18G squadrons. Currently, The 390th provides logistical expertise and personnel to operate the EA-18G Growler in support of the Joint Airborne Electronic Attack Program."
They’re talking about the EW version, which the USAF does have.

The UK doen't have the anti missile systems to shoot down hypersonic missile fired from Russia...
True, however I don’t believe any nation does. In addition to this, Russia has already probably depleted a good percentage of their stockpile already firing upon hospitals and civilian areas and their ability to produce more while in a state of global isolation and sabotage attacks destroying chemical/ manufacturing plants will certainly hamper the rate at which they will be produced.
@@harrisonellis6124 Why would the Russians fire upon hospitals, schools and etc for any good reason. In Mariupol the Azov Battalion did put artillery pieces in kindergarten and hospitals to use as shields. The Russians make most of there artillery shells and other missiles. I don't believe the MSM or what they're telling us over the war. Remember Russia is a large exporter of weapons...

It's useful to see how these weapons perform before going to war to buy more of what now is then time tested. Having a larger quantity and larger variety of weapons with a specific effectiveness against a specific enemy is foundational to sucess.🧧🧠🎋🎯
