Next to the Zeekr, the Alphard looks like its a decade older in stying.

Toyota are completely letting Chinese EVs attack their decade plus dominance in this segment too easily. With no EV version it means they will lose many buyers faster in cities like Shanghai or Shenzhen where internal combustion engine number plates are limited and difficult to obtain.
It’s an interesting proposition. And agree with you that markets in Asia are probably more receptive. In HK too the Alphard is everywhere, but given the small distances, an EV is more than enough, so could really see this taking over. And when not driving yourself, why not get spoiled in 2nd row
Exactly. The Alphard is tired, and even the new refresh is not game changing. The only thing it is holding on to is that people know it’s expensive. For some people thats what they want. But others will turn to a better product.

I heard the Volvo will be RWD only. Which honestly isn't a problem because the Zeekr 009 while hilariously fast, has absolutely no business being that fast!

“Horse for courses” This does it’s intended job very well. But obviously it doesn’t do “dynamic driving” well. Which begs the question…why does it need to be this fast in a straight line!

This looks like a dream minivan. I used to think the Alphard/Vellfire would be the king of minivans for a long time. Now I am very happy to see there is a new Lexus (LM) minivan, a new Volvo minivan (EM90) and this Zeekr 009. For the price, I think the Zeekr is the best value for money as it is essentially a clone of the EM90 which is priced much higher.
Wrong way around. The EM90 is a clone of the Zeekr 009. The 009 came out long before they decided to make a Volvo version lol. There a lot of MPV/Minivans coming in China in 2024. Xpeng X9, Li MEGA already have Denza D9, Zeekr 009. There are offerings from Trumpchi & Wey
Amazing! I hope all this competition in minivan wiIl come in Europe, because Mercedes V class it’s overpriced and it’s an old project compared to these vans

it’s a tough look to fall in love with. But if you search images of this thing in all black it looks pretty mean looking! it has undeniable presence! but the interior is definitely the highlight!

The Denza D9 is definitely popular right now! But it’s a far more traditional Luxury MPV in styling. Combine that with the lower price and it seems to becoming a bit of a winner for BYD

Just wonder what the repair and maintenance cost like annually? Hope is not crazy like the Teslas.

Volvo em90 is based on the Zeekr 009. Roughly the same. Better materials in the Volvo.

I guess it’s less about Airport taxi and more about lounging around in comfort. Although not completely flat it still folds. so you can put luggage back there
@@ChinaDriven Airport taxi? My understanding is that, in China, MPV's are business vehicles. Comfort for executive and customers are important. In the U.S., it ain't taxi drivers. Minivans are for soccer Mom's and recreation; and, the college student parents being able to load furniture and tons of stuff doesn't hurt either. But, it’s not a minivan. It has all the other specs though, for an amazing minivan. 500+ HP, pano glass to third row, >300 EPA miles, big displays for kids. As a minivan, it might decimate the competition for high-end minivans in the U.S. I’m hoping its brethren, Volvo’s EM90, will be a minivan and make it to U.S. shores.

I don’t believe so at the moment. But Volvo just announced their version of this car. So perhaps that is more likely to come to your market. Depending where you are

we’ve heard the Volvo will probably be RWD only. So not as bonkers quick. Which is fine cos no MPV needs this kind of speed. Although it is fun leaving “quick” cars in the dust
I am in the market for an MPV EV. I only have a few comments. 1.) Prefer center console to have more storage like hyudai ioniq 5 2.) Shorter length as being too large might make it unwieldy for day to day. Esp when Im the driver, im using it to drive my family and sometines vip clients
What an ugly car on the outside and what a beauty in the inside. With kid #4 oh the way my options are limited - there’s not that much electric going on for 6 people. So I welcome every bit of of option even though here in Europe we probably won’t get this. Strange. I thought families in China were smaller, so why do they buy such massive cars? I mean you don’t buy a car with a third row if you have less than 6 people?!?
It's all happening very soon. Xpeng X9, Li Auto Mega and I'm sure plenty of others will enter the BEV MPV segment as well.
because it is not just a family car. also a executive level business car. the back seats serve for reception of important guests or business meeting. same as your S class or 7 Series.
