The thing I like about it is that they actually were enemies. So many enemies to lovers tropes skip the enemies part and just pretend for a bit but nobody actually believes it.

I really love that little parallel between Mizu and Taigen wrestling vs Mizu and Mikkio (her late husband) sparring, you can tell that those friendly matches are Mizu's way of courtship and unlike Mikkio who felt threaten by his wife being physically stronger than him, Taigen is clearly attracted to the idea of Mizu being better than him even if he doesn't want to admit it, it really shows that they are made for each other and I really hope they are endgame because Mizu deserves someone who can love her for who she is
Exactly this is what i thought Mikio is total jerk than Taigen you know that crying scene Mizu that really breaks my heart but on the other hand Taigen never utter a word about Mizu to Fowler/enemies and i think that is loyalty and i hope in S2 they are the endgame too.

I've always thought that the idea of a spouse being stronger or more deadly than you shouldn't be a minus no matter the sex. Ideally in a marriage ya gotta trust your partner that they have your best interests at heart, ya sleep together and one of ya could slit the other's throat in the middle of the night. Mikkio clearly didn't trust Mizu to be stronger than him, he didn't trust her at all. Maybe he didn't rat her out to those guys but he certainly didn't trust his back to her to fight them together. Before Tiagen even started to seem to catch feelings for her he was willing to literally be her shield to guard her life. Lovers or not, they are great comrades together.

I really love the second time they wrestled and Taigen had his little oopsies moment, since it showed that he himself has grown feelings that his body can't deny. It's an attraction born from seeing Mizu throughout the journey and growing out of the prejudice he held against her as a child, and it's a culmination of him truly knowing her for both her charm (steadfast, skillful and decidedly beautiful) and her flaws (her short fuse, cold temper, her lack of honor befitting the traditional samurai). He's definitely one of the most important catalyst for Mizu to finally forge herself into the perfect blade, balanced and appreciated for who she is.
Yeah I agree with everything you said except he's not at the point he's accepted those feelings, in spite of what his body is telling him. He still calls Mizu he in episode 9 so for all intents and purposes he still thinks she's a man.

This show really captivated me, I’m always nit picking shows and wishing they were better some how, but this show really blew me away. I love the protagonist, she’s everything I want to be, fierce and ferocious. She’s got a ton of flaws and but she’s unapologetic and fearless.

Not whole life but just the childhood and a few adulthood day's which i think is quite less compared to all the other possible interests who tried to either called her a devil or worst kill her. There no point in living in past i think the present taigen appreciates mizu more than he show's or knows and mizu also to taigen (i mean that scene in episode 6 brothel where she remembers taigen)Moreover man still doesnt realise that's a girl...and i don't want him to know their this tension is awesome to see Although i personally think that mizu going to London means season 2 taigen will be less seen...

Mikio rejected Mizu as a 'devil' after he found out about her swordsmanship skills, so it was a nice contrast to have someone that has learned to truly appreciate her strengths. Mizu and Taigen are truly great foils for each other. I usually don't enjoy shipping characters together in serious shows like this, but this show did it so well that I honestly didn't see it coming... but once it happened, it made perfect sense. It feels natural.

I did see it coming since the first episode. The fact that Taegen went after her to regain his honor and ending up fighting alongside her gave it up for me.

It’s all about perspectives … little did mizu know about the kind of environment the ‘ princess ‘ grew up in.. this show clearly portrays how women , in different stratas and upbringings were treated with contempt , and discrimination, during that time , in different ways ..

I loved that scene where Mizo pins him down and straddles him sm because it paralleled the one with her ex-husband perfectly! But while her ex felt emasculated and threatened by her skills and romantic/sexual dominance, Taigen got aroused and didn't flip out even in that embarrassing situation with whom he perceives to be another man (and his enemy!)! Glorious! Loved it and I shipped it from that moment on.

And he only called Mizu a 'demon' right after that scene because Mizu seemed to not care about Akemi or the Shogun knowing about the assassination, not because she was mixed-raced or too powerful like why Mikio said it.
Theres always that pinned down scene where the tension rises tenfold. Always that brief glance at each others lips before their eyes. And the sudden shy away and awkwardness after. Ugh, i love those scenes.
I just found out that it's called the blue-eyed and it's a Netflix series this reminds me so much of Mulan because she had to act like a guy in order to fight in the war

From the time of calling her a "dog" to acknowledging that she is better than even him. It was captivating to see him gain humility than greatness. From hating to absolutely growing to love Taigen and his character arc in the first season. I'm excited to see what's going to happen next. I'm alright with these two not being in a relationship anytime soon. Their dynamic in the beginning felt like two souls connecting to each other and both growing to respect each other. They are tied together. This is only the beginning of a love story. They are far from over.

I loved the fact that taigen endured so much pain and didn’t eat Mizu out, and I also love it when he says “he deserves better than you”. I think it really shows his deep appreciation and awe that he feels for her, also his feelings for her, that he doesn’t admit to lol.

I was a little skeptical about watching this one, but as soon as I started I was mesmerized! There is not a dull moment in this anime.
Not only do they both have stubborn souls and are samurai. With great chemistry. But it is just so great and cute that the swords that best suits them are the swords that come from the most disappointing time from the other's life. The meteorite sword that appeared when taigen was about to kill mizu and the broken blade of mizu not only because it was a failure and it broke but also because she essentially armed another victimizer.
Bottom line, the show's amazing. But then they added enemies to lovers and I died of happiness. It's ridiculously phenomenal.
Just finished this show i didnt see mizu and taigen relationship as a romance more of a very strong warrior bond. Which is sometimes also a love. This show was vicously satisfying. The adult version of so many shows i love. Cant wait for season 2

@@tinab9561 I recall that line & am of multiple minds about it. On one hand, I agree that he might’ve figured it out. However, I think it’s more possible he’s just close to figuring it out. I think he’s too cocky & brash to not have said something about her ruse. Losing to, & being saved by a woman might be worse to him than having lost to a mixed race man. I thought he had to have noticed her lack of certain male anatomical parts when she’d rolled on top of him by the fire. But, his response to her straddling him, & awkwardness when they parted & sat up, seemed more like them brushing aside budding attraction (& him feeling concerned that he’s feeling things for a guy). There are so many ways for him to figure out the truth that it’s maddening to think he still doesn’t know… It’s possible he figured it out when he first tracked her down to fight. Maybe he saw her bathe; etc… Heck I always thought she was a woman & felt so vindicated when proven right. I just want to see Taigen’s mind blown over it; him to make amends for his past behavior; him to get over his bigotry regarding her heritage; for her to forgive him; them to fall in love; defeat their enemies; & live happily ever after enjoying life & kicking ass as needed.

Loved this vid but it's missing the bit where Taigen offers to sacrifice himself to let Mizu use him as a meatshield. Even when he still hates her at this point, he respects her a lot.
There were many incredible emotional bits in this story, but the one that hit me the most was when at the Fowler lair he was about to kill Taigen and Mizu remembered how she wronged Ringo and Akemi and chose to save what's dear instead of destroying what she abhors. That put tears in my eyes.

I’m sorry I’m so late, this is so, amazing. Felt like I watched a whole lifetime in the span of minutes… the characters story, and plot so interesting within the scope of history. Duels, Honor and the patience and skills, “only I get to kill him.” Well, nothings more honorable then friendship… and more so, lovers.
Yeah, I kinda hope that they just remain good close friends. I think it would work out better than a romantic relationship.

I feel like this is the series I've been yearning for way before it existed. The animation is breathtaking. The characters seem so interesting, with depth and development. The story seems intriguing! I can't wait to get my homework done so I can watch this over the Christmas break, and I expect it to be a masterpiece!
People keep comparing "Arcane" to this, and i don't know which is a better series, both are GOD Tier shows. check that one out if you haven't, it's CGI animation too.

I was really surprised seeing a Samurai story showing bisexual love between the main characters, women's power, and.... so much male nudes (a lot more penises than vaginas). This rarely happens in blood-gore + action-packed stories, which typically put focus on straight male-oriented contents. This display of diversity made me wonder, who directed this show? Couldn't be a straight man right? And bingo, I knew it! The director is called Jane Wu, a very talented woman! A great decision, what a breath of fresh air with such theme.

But even if that wasn't the case, it still doesn't make the relationship bi nor does it count as bisexual representation because in the end it's still a straight couple. As a bisexual I hope bi folks are aware that there's actual representation of bisexual love out there that is way better and more authentic than a pseudo-bisexual "couple" that is in fact not a bisexual couple but a straight couple. At first I was hoping for an enemies to lovers between mini and the princess but her ally ship with taigenwas so good. No matter what he had mizus back because of the battle but I think somewhere they became friends also love the interesting feelings of Taligent falling or at the least feeling aroused by mizu who he knew as a man especially after them clarifiying that bisexuality does in fact exist in this world and it’s just an act. Ugh this show is so freaking good and such a gem . Amazing story amazing characters and amazing female characters! Both presented in masculinity, feminists, in betweeen, and neither at all. It just came out but I can’t wait for season 2

For me the whole show was a perfect mix of Samurai Jack, Mulan and the Witcher. Different elements from those shows/movie intertwined in one. Oh and i have a crush on Taigen... and Mizu

After watching the show, I come back here almost every day, to watch your little masterpiece. I saw it on my recommended videos, and got curious about these characters. Your video made me watch such an amazing show the way no other trailer could've. Your music choice is amazing. The way you let Mizu and Taigen's story unfold, the progression of their characters, the subltety of some of the scenes that only made sense when you edit them together. I hope you make more for Season 2 eventually. Definitely subscribing! 😊

I can definitely see these two end up together. Known each other since childhood, started off as enemies, growing close as friends...until love finally sneaks up on them. And now...they can't see their lives without each other in it.

This was such an epic story, I binged this whole serie in 2 days. Loved it. These 2 had amazing developement.

Ppl are forgetting!!!! - tiagen saw most fight the four fangs he know how strong most is and still didn’t kill her when she fainted his face faltered!! - they have an argument but he admires how skilled she is and he’s upset about it because he’s still an asshole. - when they go to the tea meet up ( trap) he tells mizu : use my BODY as a shield. He went all this way to find mizu and chose to sacrifice himself for mizu!!! - after they work together they compliment each other ( he enjoys mizu company but is too stubborn to admit it or realize just how much he likes it) - when he wakes up he’s mad but wondering how mizu thought he was horable and fit to have her ( FIRST SWORD EVER MADE ) and her letter!!!! - Taigen get brutally TORTURED and doesn’t say ONE thing about mizu even the smallest thing!!. He stayed shut and mentioned mizu deserves better. ( this is when i started seeing him differently bc i hated him) - Mizu was wearing his scarf the whole time this means she stole it when she hit him unconscious and wanted to remember him before she went on her suicidal mission. She fines him and he acts as anANCHOR for her since drug poisoning it’s making her falter. - mizu conquers some serious stretch carrying them both up the wall and doesn’t let him slip through her fingers. - when taigen is back in the village he drops a rock and is seen reliving his awful actions/ inexcusable. I think this is when he realizes how much of a dick and entitled prick he’s been all these years. He hated living in the village and wanted other ppl specifically mizu to feel below him.( this does NOT excuse his actions) but when he gets tortured he get every bit of hurt he gave mizu and TAKES it because he feels he deserves it. This is when his character changes, mizu has sparked awareness in him and makes him want to change and be a BETTER MAN. - when mizu blade breaks and she gets shot taigen gets a rush of adrenaline to STILL fight for her even thought he’s on the brink of DEATH. ( ik he wants to be the one who “ kills her” but that’s bullshit and he did this out of pure care). Mizu sees he’s about to get beaten again but she stops the fight completely ( going against everything for taigen) stoping the fight when she’s so close to killing her target, the only thing she’s worked for. But saves taigen and herself. - after she wakes up she looks for him and then asks about his health ( this is when I started seeing her care for him as well) he wakes up and they have some small talk again ( HISTORY ). This is when taigen thanks her for saving his life and mizu says he doesn’t owe her anything. This is SO big bc I think this is when she completely forgives him after seeing how he got tortured. Taigen is also shocked and this picks at his resolve having to hear mizu doesn’t want anything from her bully and “ enemy”. Taigen then does small acts of SERVICE ( a love language) he gives her their home town food and realizes how much he doesn’t want to isolate her anymore !!!!. He then praises mizu and encourages her to follows her mission. Then they have that scenes and it’s the only time in the whole show that PRESENT mizu is GENUINELY HAPPY and giddy. And taigen’s feelings and body betray him as his little friends makes an appearance. This is when I think mizu wanted to tell him no confess to him that she’s a girl….hes the o my person she was willing to tell. ( rings found out/ she never planned for that ) but she doesn’t her wall as are still up and strong as ever and she talks about akemi. - Mizu is watching two men having sexual scenes and she is instantly thinking and reapplying a memory of taigen and her. ( it’s so obvious here/ shes attracted to him and she obviously cares for him since she almost revealed her secret.) but then again she shuts the door and ignore her feelings. -when Mizu is fighting Fowler taigen show up for her AGAIN it’s like this invisible strand that connect them and he’s always willingly there for her. He declares that her fight is his and that he willing to be there. What more evidence do you guys need!! This was for all of the haters because I was a hater also but you also have to think about the culture and time period. Things back then were very very strict and different. Taigen did everything to leave his town and become a samurai / someone of power and he knows having feelings for a man is not a good thing for people to know so as much as he likes mizu hes still a man of “ honor” and tries to make it work with akemi. But that doesn’t end well. So I think he needs to sit with himself and really for for that he wants, which is to be happy and if you have been paying attention to this show you can remember when mizu talked at the tea meeting about how she doesn’t care about power or money. Neither does taigen anymore. Mizu says she doesn’t care about happiness but that’s because it’s been stripped form her and she’s scared to get hurt again. I think they have helped each other in a lot of ways and now that they both have grown into adult and have grown with each other I think they are great for each other. Mizu makes him question everything and himself and makes him want to be better without her doing anything. He sees how great she is and it just makes himself want to change. Taigen challenges her and shows her you can always find love again and people who truly care about you. She’s always been alone but he’s very stubborn in not doing that. Okay I’m down I could go one but nobody will read it then. Classic Shang and mulan!!!!

I like Taigen because he is the stereotypical dumb strong man, but he is very honorable and good, there is some beauty in that. And I just like her, because... I don't know, is she?? She is a strong and cold woman, what more can I ask for?

I find it interesting that Teigen started developing these feelings and attraction for a Mizu he thought of as a boy. I wonder how the story will develop when he finds out Mizu is actually a girl, and if his sane-sex attraction will have any bearing on his personality, considering he's such a man's man.
