It's sad. We saw at the start of the season that books are all stolas had when he was growing up. But when he got married his wife not only had no interest in him, but she didn't even have a shred of interest in his hobbies.

I think the thing that makes blitzos arc as a father work; is how old she was when she was adopted. Like he is in no way shape or form capable of raising from birth any sort of hellspawn without royally fucking them up. But when it came to Loona, she was just a scared traumatized girl looking for anybody to give her the time of day to just give a shit about her. By the time they met, she was basically gonna turn out how she was gonna turn out regardless of what blitzo succeeded or failed at as a father. But still he made the choice to say that one month left of childhood she had, mattered. And he was going to try to make the best of it and give her as good of a home as he possibly could. Which was more than anybody had ever done for her before. The representation this gives to especially those who grew up in foster care and aged out of it, is astounding. She's not some misunderstood perfect little angel, she can be a maladjusted bitch sometimes with some aggressive coping mechanisms she learned while just trying to survive her childhood. And blitzo saw that angry terrified girl and decided that he was going to love her anyway, and be her father, no matter what she does to try to push him away. Like god damn, blitzo is a mess, but that takes some fucking chops and is an extremely effective character dynamic that makes me wanna burst into tears!!
I remeber someone that analize him in that part, Blitz wanted to be for Loona, the father he didnt have, and the problem is the father he want and is trying to be, is not the father Loona needs, wich even when it is a problem, you have to applaud that he is trying to truly be for Loona something, or someone. Also applaud Blitz for acutaly trying, something i learn as i grow old, is that, yes sometimes things are hard, but i realize how important is that people acutally tried and tried with desire, every day including miself feel i no longer give a crap, and dont even try and see well Blitz actually try is comendable
@@Krysnha you know I really agree with you! He's not everything she ideally would get from a parent equipped to help a child deconstruct trauma. Though, I would venture to say that, despite blitzo not being the father loona wants, he is the father she needs. Because despite all of his flaws and imperfections, he is an affectionate, doting father who thinks the world of her, and no matter what happens he puts her before anything, even his job and even stolas, we see that when he sends millie and moxie to save him while he takes her to get her very scary hellhound shot. She reacts aggressively to affection and support because she never got it at a young age, and her nervous system is now trained to be instinctually reactive and defensive, because she grew up in a nonstop state of fight or flight. That sort of trauma takes a long long time and a lot of therapy to unlearn. But I think deep down, she does love and appreciate blitz as a father. We see it after they meet up after she finds Octavia, and blitz goes in for the hug and she smacks him down, but smiles afterwards. Showing that she actually doesn't mind it as much as she makes out, she just doesn't know how to accept platonic affection, and may never be a very affectionate cuddly person. Thats not a bad thing, that's just how some people are. But I also do think she has benefitted from having blitz as a father figure in her life, because even though she's not a child anymore, parental guidance and support doesn't just stop being valuable after she turned 18. I think his continued presence in her life is a really good influence on her, giving her a job and a safe place to live and a family that she never had before, that she would have never had if she hadn't been adopted.

As someone who has a REALLY shitty relationship with my dad, watching this episode has genuinely brought me to tears. I didn't really care too much for this show at first, but now... I have the upmost respect for it and have learned to love it. A true work of art.
Same. My dad's a dick and he's had a really hard life. I do my best to understand but it doesn't excuse the way he treats me.
I just can't get the moment at 18:15. Ever since episode 2 of season 1, it's been clear just how much Stolas absolutely LOVES his daughter, even if she isn't certain about it sometimes (like in this episode). Despite the fact that she ran away from home and stole his spellbook, there isn't an OUNCE of anger in his reaction to finding her again. He doesn't shout, he doesn't scold, he just hugs her and thanks everything that exists that she's unharmed. He's just so relieved she's safe, he truly doesn't care about anything else, he just loves her THAT much. Stolas is the parent more people should aspire to be.

You know, I always loved the fact that, even though Loona was adopted at 17, she never run away from Blitz. Even when she became a legally adult, what she could have done, as she would not be put on a shelter anymore. When I realized she is not a kid anymore this realization just made my heart melt even more. And is not like she just uses him to have a place to live, she actually cares for him and is grateful on her own way. She finally has her own family as twisted and mess up as it is. On the party episode when she calls him to pick her up instead of going back home on a cab proves that she likes him and actually sees him as her dad. This is so beautifully represented for cases like hers of kids that spent their lives alone and find a family at an old age, it doesn’t happen much but it gives us hope.
We've got two things out of this episode that people wanted really badly: 1) a hint on Loona's background 2) Loona and Octavia interacting

It was pretty surprising. Octavia's whole personality kinda contradicts excitement.
I think it was an accurate portayal of coming of age. When you're young you think your parent's promises are 100% true. When you get to the stage between childhood and adulthood you'll start losing that idealized version of your parents. I really liked how it showed this was the one thing tying her to that child-like expectation of her dad; he'll always keep his promises, I'm the most important thing to him, he always makes the right choices. Showing when that last thread of childhood expectations snapped. She grew up a lot in that moment, realizing her dad was not perfect or couldn't/wouldn't keep his promises. After, she was mature, empathizing and showing forgiveness to her dad because knew he was trying. Realizing he's a person(? lol) and not just her dad.

I remember watching this episode for the first time. My parents were going through a divorce and I was so angry at my dad for leaving. I was more hurt than angry. He never loved me as much as my siblings growing up and when he left, he didn’t seem to care about me at all. Watching this for the first time, I sobbed at what Loona said to Octavia. And when Oct said “why does he hate her more than he loves me?” That just broke me. I was feeling all of that times a hundred. I’ve learned to forgive my dad and we’ve developed somewhat of a normal relationship, but I still have a big hole in my heart from what he did and how he treated me. But, Octavia, your dad loves you so much. Lord knows he’s better than mine. Loona’s right. Cut him some slack, he’s trying his best. And he loves you.

The way Loona and Blizto are the best example of what a strained parent relationship. Speaking as child who deals with it due to family drama and not toxic shit, I absolutely adore it. They write it so well. When Loona is talking to Via, the whole time she mentions it's more important to try then nothing, she's smiling as she plays with the I.M.P sticker. ALSO, When Blizto was running up to her, she was smiling to see him. And when he went to hug her, she was smiling. Just like in the pilot, when Blizto says "We don't get rid of family, Moxxie" she smiled. She's so scared to love him because she's never experienced true unconditional love. She's always been left alone. But even though , she's trying to act like she isn't, she does love Blizto like her actual dad. She's just scared to hurt again. Also, Blizo hasn't had unconditional love since his mother, so while he does his best to be a good dad to Loona, he is still trying figure it out too. But he never gives up on Loona. He always says how "awful" she looks ( that's a good thing in hell) Or how she's his baby. And he is always first to protect her. But most importantly, she's never left Blizto like everyone else he ever loved has. So despite the rocky,bumpy, jagged, rough surface of Loona and Blizto, they're both just hurt souls who've started healing by filling the gaps they felt they were missing. I think it's beautiful

He's even more reasonable in terms of his reactions to his marriage, whereas Stella straight up hired a hit man to kill Stolas, after he cheated with her, he decides to divorce her when he can't handle their relationship anymore, while also acknowledging that Via is now mature enough to know the truth about their marriage

The added detail of Disney lands fireworks going off is amazing! If you didn’t know, Disney land, in Los Angeles, puts a fireworks show on some weeks and months and days, so if you didn’t know why those fireworks went off, it’s because of Disney land!
This feels amazing like how nothing amazed Stolas back in the circus when he was a kid until Blitz appeared and amazed him. Until Now Octavia has finally found something w/ Blitz when she was at a braking point Loon comforting her then them looking at the fireworks really gives me a warm comfy feeling! I hope she meets Loon sometime she can be a little lonely and misunderstood sometimes and she really might gain a sister.

What I’m saying is, when you’re so severely depressed nothing excites you (like how she has been) even things that you were excited about as a child do not make you as giddy as she was. Just noticed for a split second at 19:03, Millie texted Blitzø about whether or not he thought Moxxie might be into what looks like a ball gag??? I know she's been very sweet about Blitzø following them home and such, but I thought she just found it funny. Now I'm paranoid I've been missing the hints that Millie has encouraged Blitzø to join their relationship this whole time. Maybe if this episode didn’t exist I could see the problem with the Stolitz ship, but now that this episode exists I want it to sail. It could grow into a loving, supportive relationship if those two would just have an adult, mature conversation about their feelings for one another, and where they want their relationship to go. Their daughters like each other and get along well. That’s a great start.

Also is just an impression of mine or is true that the only episodes in which Loona seems happy or smiles and not just yell at others are the episodes in which she goes to the surface and does the missions ( ok there’s ep 8 but even there her primary emotion in anger or at least that’s her normal attitude). I mean I think what makes Loona so rude some times is that she doesn’t feel really part of the familu that is I.M.P. this is my theory. I think if she stopped being just the receptionist she would be way less rude than she is. She would keep her attitude, but I think she wouldn’t be always rude and wrath on anything for no reason.

I mean, I get it from a story perspective why Blitz wouldn't want Loona in the field but as she is my favorite character I can't help but feel bitter about that being the reason we don't get to see more of her. Especially because of how long it takes for new episodes to be released.
Yet I still feel really uncomfortable and real upset that she and Blitz keeps calling Moxxie fat even though he’s not fat at all. This bullying makes me feel like I’m back goin’ through the old bullying in Jr. High School all over again. I’m used to Blitz bein’ an annoyin’ crazy comedic jerk but I Really Hate Loona Now!
