  • one of the best things that’s ever happened to me was finding this channel. this was the first vsauce video i ever watched, which was in 2014 and i was 11. (i’m 19 now - almost 20 !) in his ‘the zipf mystery’ video, he talked about how he can’t remember every detail in the all books he’s read; likewise, i can’t always remember the details in his videos, which is why i’m always coming back watch them every now and then.

    • Im kinda late to the party and i couldnt recall the exact video that got me hooked into his channel but I think stumbling onto any of his videos is surely a hooker anyway. Plus his format havent change a lot, a vid of his from a decade ago can contend with the present ones specially regarding delivery. His vods are just that timeless

    • Hahaha yes!! I am 30 and remember his How Hot Can It Get video was one of the first of his that I remember plus his one about black holes. Black holes are how I got interested in all of the greater outer space KZhead channels that I love like Astrum, SEA, Science Asylum, Arvin Ash etc... others too or specific videos but besides VSauce (and his DONG channel is also really cool if you don't already know about it) But VSauce was def one of the first of the educational KZhead channels thst piqued my interest! I've learned so much since then for someone who never went to school for any of this but I wish I could really read and understand what some of these crazy equations like explaining what happens around black holes or the physics about Neutron stars (you can insert any topic you want here I just find black holes very interesting and I know both them and neutron stars would have amazing stories about them both through just the equations alone!

That's really cool you got to see him from the start and now this. Haha I wish I would have known about his channel earlier sometimes too. 😅 I think I found VSauce 6 years ago maybe

  • The neon color spreading illusion doesn't look like a blue circle to me , it looks like blue lines. The white in the middle looks white. I started learning how to paint and draw in 2018 and that showed me some specific points about how I experience my vision of nature vs my vision of a photograph. (differences in contrast, edges, angles, saturation ect...) One interesting thing about the interpretation of the data is the assumption is made that something which is not the self causes you to see vision. The truth is you can never check anything other than your own vision to find out. That is to say when you look at a photo , that is your vision of the photo you're holding , you haven't gotten outside of you own vision to compare it to something else.

I felt like vision and conciousness were linked, if you had no streaking or any reflections or anything windowlike in your vision, that meant that there was nothing between you and everyone else and that we were all visually in unison.

  • I looked up this question to attempt to figure out how many pixels worth of resolution one would need to give a neural net to have it generate vision at least as good as a human without overestimating by an order of magnitude... That 7+1 Megapixels figure seems to be useful for that. Though some clarification may be in order to determine whether this would be a Black/White image, or whether one needs multiple copies of such an array to handle an RGB input and the multiple possible values thereof.

  • Michael: Assuming everything else is optimal, how many pixels would you need, to make an image on a screen, large enough to fill your entire field of view, look like real life, without any detectable pixelation? ChatGPT: The number of pixels required to make an image on a screen look like real life without any detectable pixelation depends on several factors, such as the size of the screen, the viewing distance, and the visual acuity of the human eye. Assuming an average human visual acuity of 20/20 (which means that at a distance of 20 feet, a person can resolve details that are 1/60th of a degree apart), the number of pixels required to achieve a photorealistic image without any visible pixelation would depend on the angular resolution of the human eye. The angular resolution of the human eye is approximately 1 arcminute, which means that at a distance of 1 foot, the human eye can resolve details that are about 0.3 mm apart. Therefore, to create a photorealistic image that fills the entire field of view, the number of pixels required would be: pixels = (field of view in degrees) * (1 arcminute per degree) * (1 pixel per arcminute) * (viewing distance) For example, if the field of view is 120 degrees (typical of human horizontal field of view) and the viewing distance is 1 foot, the number of pixels required would be: pixels = 120 * 60 * 60 * 1 = 259,200 pixels However, if the viewing distance is increased to 10 feet, the number of pixels required would decrease to: pixels = 120 * 60 * 60 * 10 = 25,920 pixels This means that a 4K display (3840 x 2160 pixels) viewed from a distance of 10 feet could potentially provide a photorealistic image that fills the entire field of view. However, this calculation assumes ideal conditions, and other factors such as display quality, color accuracy, and brightness can also affect the perceived quality of the image.
