    • it is a Saturday, it doesnt really prove much. majority of the tournament had empty seats and quiet crowds

    • Same can be said for most tournaments even on the atp side. You can’t ask people to fill a stadium midweek with work/school. Doesn’t take away how great it is to see these ladies properly appreciated.

    • Guadalajara is only good during WTA Finals tbh, its WTA 1000 rendition ain't as festive. Singapore still reigned supreme in terms of WTA Finals. Too bad this year's edition is in Cancun -.-

  • So happy for Maria Sakkari. After so many heartbreaking losses in SF and finals, she finally wins one and it's a Masters 1000. Love the interaction between her and coach.She was so heavily trolled for her losses and for having just a 250 title in entire career. Agreed the field here was weak but kudos to her for making most of it unlike Ons/ Azarenka. Hope this title will help her relax and win more titles.

    • agree. given the weak draw she was the one who took it vs ons, garcia, etc. luck and draw are sometimes a factor but the task of winning a tennis match with the pressure and the mental still deserves kudos

Rules clearly states that a player wins the point if their unreturnable shot lands anywhere inside singles court, if their opponent's unreturnable shot lands anywhere outside singles court or in the net or when a player's hits service box which is diagonally from their stand point so that it can't be returned back. There's also a let rule which says that if the serve hits the net and lands inside correct service box it's a let and that serve must be repeated. There's also hindrance rule which states that if a call happened and there was slightest possiblity that a shot or outcome of that shot would have been different if the call didn't happen a player must be given benefit of the doubt and point should be replayed. Now you understand how delusional you are? This chair umpire like I said favored Sakkari and applied the rules however he so desired.

  • So Happy for Maria! It was a struggle for her this year. She came back and fought harder after that heartbreak loss at the U.S Open in the 1st round. Many questioned, if she deserved her top 10 ranking. Today she demonstrated to everyone she deserved it and earned it! Bravo Maria!   • Caught the match. The kids screaming Maria in the stands was a bit much. The trophies are both nice & pretty equal. Usually the winner gets an obnoxiously large trophy while the runner-up gets a useless platter. Congrats to Sakkari for breaking her finals curse, getting out of her head, & winning a title 7-5 6-3. Dolehide held her own, but ultimately the fatigue of 18 hrs of tennis caught up with her. Pulling out of doubles sooner might've kept her a bit fresher for the final.
