In the spring of 1980, the port at Mariel Harbor was opened, and thousands set sail for the United States. They came in search of the American Dream. One of them found it on the sun-washed avenues of Miami... wealth, power and passion beyond his wildest dreams. He was Tony Montana. The world will remember him by another name... Scarface.

He had practice and he knows not to trisr anyone.
He doesn’t like Colombians lol
Tony went to prison in Cuba and his mother also mentions he used to be a robber robbing “bodegas” he likely got mixed up into the drug game back in Cuba but just on a smaller scale. He also knew that the going rate for an drug offloader was 1000 a night, which is why he got heated when Omar offered him 500. This wasn’t tonys first rodeo.
tony knew marta had a gun when she makes suspicious movements for the pillows at 2:00 and he's constantly checking her every time she moves, he even moves his hands behind his back so he can draw more quickly
How about how wild it is that this was released in 1983? Literally in the midst of cocaine being a big thing?
What I love is that Tony doesn't shoot him from behind. He takes the time to make sure he sees him before gunning him down.
And like he tells Sosa's dude in the car, "you don't have the balls to look him in the eye and kill him!"
He could've just politely asked him to look over his shoulder... 🤣

Your turn
It's always been fucking obvious to me that Omar "El Mano " Suarez, El Mano means "the Monkey " in Spanish, Omar's nickname, set up Tony Montana and his crew including Angel Fernandez, who Hector "The Toad " and his small four-man (three men and one woman technically)gang of renegade trigger-happy cowboy Colombian thugs and former Colombian cartel associates back home in Colombia before Hector and his thugs migrated to America in the 1970's and settled temporarily in Miami, Florida by 1980, saw as Tony's only visible back up and lookout guy. Omar felt spiteful at Tony standing up to Omar the night before in front of the Bodega and trying to physically fight Omar for disrespecting Tony but Manny restrained Tony while Omar, a spineless rat at heart, tried to pull out his pistol to shoot Tony but his driver stopped Omar and whispered to give up the Cuban gangsters to the Colombians. Why Hector had two of his diminutive henchmen and gang members, "the Kids," positioned underneath the stairwell to ambush Angel from behind as Tony was in the motel room. Why Hector's girlfriend, Marta, had her pillow covering up her hidden fully automatic silenced machine gun Marta pulled on Tony as he pulled his pistol last minute which Hector disarmed from Tony as he was held at gunpoint with Angel. Omar warned Tony and Manny to bring two extra men as back-up and provided machine guns for Tony and his crew to avoid suspicion of a set-up if Tony survived the drug deal gone wrong. I do believe Sosa told the truth that Omar was a rat/snitch/NYPD police informant in New York city, New York, two years before that one of Sosa's two top enforcers, bodyguards, henchmen and pro Bolivian cartel hitmen, Alberto "The Shadow " recognized from visiting the United States of America two years before and Alberto saw Omar rat his three partners in crime out and testify against the three drug dealers to beat a prison stint or saw the paperwork and Omar migrated and fled to Miami, Florida afterwards for a new beginning where no one knew who he was or he was a snitch and started working for Frank Lopez until he climbed the hierarchy ladder to underboss. Why Sosa's two personal bodyguards, henchmen and pro Bolivian cartel assassins, the Skull aka the Bolivian Terminator aka Tony's future killer and the Shadow battered Omar to a bloody pulp brutally before lynching the rat from a helicopter.

Lol, Tony told Hector Angel was his "brother" IMO so that if things went bad, Hector would go for Angel first in order to use him as leverage, which is exactly what happens. This meant Tony could wait for Manny to come help them while the dealers threaten and then hurt Angel. And when Hector was about to do it, Tony did nothing to help Angel, he refused to tell Hector where the money was and blow the deal, he chose to let Angel suffer an agonizing death instead. Poor Manny. His story was so sad. He idolized and followed Tony everywhere. Loved him like a brother. He womanized, treated girls like love objects. So when Gina fell for him he treated her right. Dates, dinners.. Kept her clean. Married her in secret and I'm sure the one thing he wanted to tell Tony that he never got to was that he loved her and was finally Tony's real brother. Tony got mad and killed him. The one guy that always had Tony's back.
Ye but tony did tell him to stay the fuck away from her! and Manny should be smarter then that to sleep with sister of a maniac like Tony :P but at the end it is a movie :)
Tony was out of his mind on blow too by the end which added to his violent impulse
@@makaronesendwicis I agree, Tony made it clear not to be with his sister

very tragic ending for Manny indeed who intended no harm however Tony felt betrayed that his closest friend would marry his sister in secret who he felt he needed to protect from everybody. should he have died no, a fist fight maybe a sucker punch to the face maybe but Tony was coked up and crazy at times so he lost it at that moment.

I know. I also like how Tony is honestly a gentleman towards Marta initially, stating her name while looking at Hector (making an effort not to creep) and then regarding her face to face ... even though she's the devil himself. When once Hector is clearly trying to play/rob him or worse the profanity comes out right in front of her. A true sigma.

Brian Depalma knew how to take a script and turn it into cinematic art.
1.14 minutes long, first shot. Beautiful! They don't do long takes like that!
One thing I love about this scene is Tony's overall reaction to the situation. He subtly gives off that he's scared shitless (No one in their right mind wouldn't when faced with the prospect of being cut up with a chainsaw), yet he still shows defiance. Even in the face of almost certain death, he doesn't crack or panic. He just remains almost motionless, like a coiled snake waiting for the right moment to strike. Because one, he's trying to buy time for Manny and Chi Chi to come back him up, and two because he knows that talking won't save him. And it's when Manny busts in guns blazing, that's when Tony finally strikes. Such a well done scene.

This 4K looks fantastic. I always assumed this movie was a grainy product of the times and we just had to accept it. I had no idea it could look this good.
And yet this is not the best version. It's dimmed somehow as if a filter was applied, and I've seen a slightly sharper picture as well. Digital
@@Alex_1729 You need an HDR display to get proper contrast
Chemical film can be higher quality than 4k
When you shoot on film, you can transfer and upscale it to very high qualities, even higher than 4K. It's movies shot on digital only that suffer and can't be up-ressed without looking worse or some neural net AI trickery (which still doesn't look as good as natural resolution.)
Depending on which type of film was used to shoot the movie, Film can upscaled past 8K, although at a scan res over ~12K, you'll just be capturing the grain in more detail (overkill).

A true Samurai Tony is.
Exactly he wants them to know hence his words to the guy before blasting him.
He just seen his friend gutted with a chainsaw. I'd look him in the eyes to.
The thing that i love so much about this movie is how real the action felt. It has just a hint of that 80s campyness but seeing this feels like im watching a real crime take place in miami beach. Brutal!
Realistic? Not in my opinion. The scene in the motel somewhat sure, but the end fight no way. Tony takes 3 bullets and is still fully up and about fighting - already silly but maybe you could let the first part slide because he was up on cocaine and got lucky with the way the bullets impacted - however, nearer the end, he starts just eating bullets like maybe 4 or even more and yet he's still up on his feet yelling at his attackers that he can take their bullets (????). Finally, the assassin takes him out with a shell at point and he falls into the pool. Anyway the point is I don't think that's "realistic" at all. Combat isn't like computer games where you get to run around on 50% HP or something. It's better than some action flicks where a protagonist will get shot and then still be up hours later, but that's not saying much. Humans are just sacks of meat and if you get shot with a modern firearm you're going down. Sure you might survive for a while, or even get more shots off propped up against something, but no way you're up and about yelling and shit-talking your assailants like Tony was with a half dozen bullet wounds.

Al Pacino was a ruthless drug lord here but his best performance to me was The Godfather. He was so cold hearted in both Godfather1 and 2. Very deserving of his Oscar. He is a goat !

I fucking love 9:15. That's so GTA... Go for some coke; then it's a stick up and your friend dies in a cinematic. You get some backup at last moment, kill your enemies and get the car while your crew takes the loot. Car radio starts playing a badass song as you and your crew just pulled out a heist in front of a lot of witnesses and get away while hearing police car sirens. It just needs stars at the top, left corner :3
It might be early game-mission which ends with tutorial part about Pay & Spray and opens up first customization options and equipment for purchase.
Wow, almost like GTA copied this movie and literally has this hotel room as an easter egg.
Idk why, but I always laugh at the part when Tony says, "You want me to come in, we start over?" 😂 🤣 its like...Ok, this bullshit isnt working out, lets do a rewind here lmfao

@@anotheryoutubeaccount5259 Yes, that's the point. A couple years back I was planning a family gathering. So I go on craigslist to buy a few extra chairs (the plastic foldable ones) there was this guy who was selling a bunch for cheap so I contacted him and arranged to meet him at his house. When I pull up there's nothing unusual. As I knock on the door the guy raises the Tv volume to the point where I can hear it clearly outside. I took that as my cue to fuck off. One of the greatest scenes in movie history. Unforgettable.
I don't know how they managed to make such an awesome movie back in the day like this one because it has always been way ahead of its time. It relates to the modern world we live in today (40 years later) teaching life lessons of reality we have to deal with in our lives.
its brutally realistic, the blood, sheer terror

5:54 Tony looks genuinely scared. What a incredible actor Al Pacino is.
You mean scary, but that Butch looking hardened woman was the creepiest and scariest if you ask me
I don't think that was fear rather brooding anger and rage. Ironically, the one time I saw fear in Tony was when Sosa warns him in their initial meeting. Tony just blankly nods just his mouth somewhat agaped
Watch carefully. You never see the chainsaw actually ripping into flesh. But you definitely feel it happening. A little blood splatter, sound effects, terse effective dialogue, and masterful editing. The chainsaw scene is actually created in the viewers mind through suggestion, much like the shower scene in Hitchcock’s Psycho. You never see the knife plunge into Janet Leigh. But you certainly believe it’s happening. Scarface is a masterpiece in filmmaking. Nothing quite like it.
The foley for the chainsaw is amazing - really nasty, rasping, rusty saw sound.
"The most disturbing moment is when he hacks off one of Marvin's ears, and while this moment isn't actually shown onscreen, it's still chilling. While the camera pans away during this shot, it was so effective that many viewers still felt like they saw the ear being hacked off.Mar 8, 2021" RESERVOIR DOGS

Scarface is three hours of tedium with some good filmmaking sprinkled in. Texas Chainsaw Massacre did everything you just spoke of 9 years before, and much more effectively.

My god. I’ve seen this movie several times but the slow pacing of this scene is just sooo stressful. Perfectly edited to have the pulse racing to see if they’ll get there in time to save Tony.
Yeah, I love the intensity in the music.
hahhaha duude, "stressful" is EXAXCTLY the right word - it's amazing how we can know the outcome and still get tense while watching it for the 17th time.
And Tony already knew that's gonna happen something like that, as he reacted to "deal with Columbians" in the episode before this.
The futility of this situation is crazy, but I appreciate the fact that he had the smarts to inform his crew of the timing of these endeavours as if preparing for a worst case scenario. 👍✌️
What was utterly dumb was he stood there and watched him pull out the chainsaw. At that point he should have rushed him, the chick would have shot, the backup would have came and it would have played out differently.
