beat izzy / early stoppage but fair enough. got ko’d stiff in the rematch barely ‘beat’ 40y oId blachowicz decision. and now early stoppage again against someone coming off an injury & hasn’t seen the octagon for a year. Only Chael could claim that a two division Glory kickboxing champion is a master of nothing.
Boxing is fake...but is he wrong?
Not for nothing his ground game has improved too but that's Chael for you, the badguy
Only chael would claim ppl don't change and ppl can't get better
I'd offer to you that he's a master of the left hook.
@@kiezersosay49are you kidding me have you ever watched a glory kickboxing fight god I hate you casuals
I agree with Chael here. Alex’s story is one you’d see in Hollywood films. Came out from the favelas, had problems with alcohol then found mma as a path way out. Went to Glory, dominated, inducted into the Glory hall of fame, joined the UFC, became middleweight champion after destroying Strickland & Adesanya then went up to 205lbs and beat both Jan Blahowicz & Jiri Prochazka in his first attempt and won his 2nd UFC title. Poatan🗿 is definitely the star fighter of 2023.
He found kickboxing, not mma.
Most black storys are hollywood films. the stuff they gotta go through to make it in this Country

GOAT.
It's true Alex Piyera is not a master of kickboxing but Alex Pereira is.
Piyeira maybe
😂😂
Alex ABSOLUTELY is the guy. Bad mf. Incredible run. 4 world titles. 2 sports. Maybe the greatest rivalry in our sports history. Goat.
Islam should get fighter of the year
@@flashgordon1541No... Islam fought a 145lber twice, that's hardly the most impressive thing in the world. Alex is the most deserving.
I disagree that he’s not improved. Poatan has gotten much better at defense and standing back up. Adesanya held him down and he tried to muscle up rather than when Jiri took him down he got to the cage and was able to stand back up. Jiri is much bigger of a man than Adesanya is.
izzy ko’d him stiff, bounced his head off the canvas like a basketball. frozen like elsa. he barely ‘beat’ 40y oId corpse of blachowicz and got another gifted title shot. fighter of the year for casuals maybe. 0 title defenses, fast tracked, never beat a wrestler / grappler only washed strikers

He generates so much power with his calf kicks and the left hook, I think a lot of people would want to learn his techniques
Alex Pereira learns superfast: jiu jitsu and wrestling he is getting from Glover Teixeira, and he is extremelly good at punching and kicking (from his experience in kickboxing). I think he is so good in kickboxing that overcomes the possible weaknesseses he might have in other areas.
we get it, why you do a light boring version of chael video?
Pereira is a goat, he was already put on Glory's Hall of Fame this year. Now it's just a matter of him retiring the UFC. Legend. People should recognize greatness.
Congrats on fighter of the year Alex!!!! What a year
🤦♂️🤦♂️ master of nothing, my goodnesss this man is one of the best kickboxer off all time
He's talking about MMA. Alex has zero blue, purple, brown or black belts *_but he has two gold belts_*
@@RonniePTexan ?? if kickboxing had belts they'd have to create a new one for him
Shout out to Alex Piera, making history. 🇧🇷✊🏽
prime opportunity for uncle chael to make his long awaited return to LHW
I like that way of looking at it Chael. Alex doesn't have black belts, he has two gold belts. Such a badass.
I’d say Alex is the most intriguing fighter in the UFC today. The scary look, the demeanor, and ofc his fights. He’s a star now, even some of my “casual” friends have heard of him
You forgot to say that He was awarded in Glory "Hall of Fame" this year. Two belts in two divisions in Glory and in UFC. He has beaten 4 UFC champions in 2 years. He fought against the best. Two of the biggest ppv in MSG. He's definitely the fighter of the year.
It's gonna be a pretty huge year for Poatan if he also gets fighter of the year, it's not long ago that he was also inducted into the Glory(k-1) Kickboxing Hall of Fame this year
he was inducted like a week ago
11 fights, and three of those were championship fights!!!that's nuts!!!
6 wins in the UFC, 4 were champ or former champs. Izzy, Sean, Jan, and Jiri. That's also nuts.
Poatan got up both against Jan and Jirri, something Izzy didn't do
alex got ko’d stiff and cried & changed weight classes. defending your title, something Alex didn’t do

Chael Sonnen is my fighter of the year. He didn't lose, not even a round. 8 submissions and 17 knockouts in 1 year. Insane
But it's not fair to include Chael, then noone else would ever win
Not to mention those 8 submissions happened in a single fight! Undefeated, undisputed

I believe the most emotional moment was when he threw that knee to the chest of Silva and later invited him to a barbecue.
Alex's resume: • Former Middleweight Glory Kickboxing Champion • Former LHW Glory Kickboxing Champion • Former Middleweight UFC MMA Champion • Current LHW UFC MMA Champion
"Grappling nut-huggers" I love you uncle Chael 🤣
He is a kick-boxing master !!
I vote for chael!!! fighter of the century!!!
Bro Chael he looks to be much better at take down defense, his striking , get back up after to get took down and picks there calf apart like no other ever has and has hurt everyone with it but you see no improvement just dont see how someone so bright and has sense like you not see at least some improvement when others see good improvement can you explain your reasoning its like im missing something because i see improvements
alex is better at kick boxing than chael is at anything on earth
100% this guy is the name of the year in whole MMA. Making history in other sport little by little.
So pereira wasn’t a world champion kick boxer ??😂😂 Wtf are you talking about chael!? He also beat Izzy standing and jiri and faced the grapple against both
You missed his point. Alex has no purple belts, no blue belts, no brown belts, or black belts. But he does have two *_gold belts_* and that's why Chael is right, Alex deserves to be Fighter Of The Year. Gold belts are the only ones that matter. That's his point
@@RonniePTexan yes yes we get it chael puts down guys then says he’s not doing that and try’s to back pedal but deep down he doesn’t understand how this is happening (Alex getting to gold belts) because of his lack of expertise in a specific martial art. But he literally is a pro and expert at muy Thai and if you know martial arts yk that muy Thai has a ranking system too and he’s got the highest ranking belt/band in muy thai🤡
I quite literally cannot think of another guy more deserving.
Makhachev imo for being more dominant and not losing his belt
well Strickland beat the guy who KO Alex, does that count
@@mega00760Alex beat that guy too, 3 times. So no to strickland. Its between Islam, Volk, and AP. Volk 3rd because he just lost
@@Will_walkingW okay I’ll give it to Islam but Volk lost twice so come on and one was a ass kicking
@@brianbuckman6908 Makhachev fights like twice a year if your lucky. He's also not very marketable to the general public. Alex fought 3 times this year, headlined 2 sold out MSG cards, came back from a loss to Izzy (arguably the biggest rivalry in current/modern MMA, where Alex is now 3-1 2ko's). Beat the guy who beat Izzy when he tried to move up for duel champ status, then he beat the actual champion Jiri (who vacated the belt due to injury) who beat his mentor Glover. 4 fights in 12 months and won 2 titles exactly 12 months apart from each-other (11/12/2022 for middleweight 11/11/2023 for light heavyweight both at MSG). All of this in 7 fights in the promotion, 4 of them champions........ Makhachev is dog shit compared to that story.
I do get what you mean Chael, it's really a thing of you get to such an elite level at any competitive sport etc, that you really don't have much room to improve, it's small changes and learning to punish minor mistakes from your opponents, like that telegraphed right overhand that juri threw. He really did have a chance of winning the tittles from day one, regardless his ground game did improve.
ap has had one helluva year and it feels like any other day because there's so much drama in the ufc
*Chael:* practices proper pronunciation of Alexs' name. *Also Chael:* keeps calling him Alex Pee-air-uh
I agree. It's either Poatan or Strickland. Holding the belt at two weight classes in the same year is almost unheard of.
LMAO “a master of nothing” is wild

Nice to see ya
Alex Periera may have the best left hook the sport has ever seen
Anthony smith going to love this video 😂
Alex Pereira is "FIGHTER of the YEAR" 💯💯🔥🔥🔥 Cheal calm down, sit back and acknowledge Greatness when in our presence!
🍺🗿🗿🗿🥋 Pierra is the fighter of the year. After he took that brutal L at 185, he wins the 205 belt after fighting 2 former champs in just 7 months. This guy needs to grab that heavyweight belt cuz I could see him beating Ngannou & Jones.
Only chael would say ppl can't change or get better
Turns out that being really good at hitting people works well in sports where it's legal to hit people
Exactly! That's why Chael is correct and Alex deserves to be Fighter Of The Year
Hey Sonen, here in Brazil you are known of being the guy who mamaged to beat more our great Champion Anderson Spider Silva. You have our great respect bro. May God bless you and your family.
I finally agree with ya Chael. I knew we'd get here someday!
@9:11 - "...why are we allowing this mistake to be maken..." English is on point! 😂
If it is not Alex then its Strickland he fought 4 times and pulled the biggest upset of the year, Islam this year only beat a lower class fighter with 10 days notice
Francis was practically a slave to black kings and queens and somehow made it to the top of the fighting realm
Haven't pressed play yet... but I agree.
Pereria also definitely improved in the ground and wrestling game there's no way he didn't and Glover definitely expanded his game there's no way it didn't get better with time. All his fights were on the feet. It's a strange effect of MMA where guys go to the top without having their ground game truly tested. Now we also have the same thing with Sean Omalley. And no I can't say yes Chael I know what you mean as far as I agree. I just know what you mean but I think he did get far better on the ground and with his wrestling with time.
I agree
The man is a 2 division champion, the least you can do is say his surname right
For Chael mispronunciation is a mark of male camaraderie. If a guy messes with you he's friendly. If a guy doesn't give you a hard time he doesn't CARE about you really. Francis Nganou got his name pronounced right here and forever because he's the PREDATOR. In a world of stone cold warriors Nganou is the Boogie man.
He'll do it the second Alex starts speaking some attempt at English during pressers. If he spoke broken English half as well as Islam, he would be even more popular than he is. I think Chael is bugged by fighters that refuse to promote themselves well.
Poatan 4 belts in 2 sports. Will be in HOF as one of the best
Alex might be fighter of the year but Ridge is the wallet of our generation 💯
I agree ☝️
Alex don’t need to know Karate, he knows crazy
Fighter of the year, two years in a row
I mean, a two division Glory kickboxing champion is most certainly a master of his craft
I would love Alex to win, I would also love to attend!
Alex is my #2 pick for fighter of the year. My first pick is the bad guy Chael P Sonnen
Can’t wait to see how many backhanded compliments are in this video😂
Yes
Alex is a Master of something you just don’t care for, so it’s “nothing” lol
he is trolling for views
You totally missed his point. Alex doesn't have any blue belts, purple belts, brown belts or black belts. Alex has the only ones that matter *_gold belts_* the Championship Belts. Which is why Chael is the only one pushing hard for Alex to win Fighter Of The Year.
Welcome to the Piera era - The Bad Guy
He says this to cape for Bo. Cheal did well against Anderson on an off night then got stopped later ie you don't get better.
Chael's x's and o's stay undefeated
And yet he stays humble by pretending not to be sure about things.
Hazmat, Piera, Miokic are Pablich and awesome.
Wait till alex learns how to utilize those sharp elbows😂
Honestly one of the best callouts in recent memory and embodies what MMA is. You can have rivals you want to murder and still respect their skillset. Izzy motivated Alex to leave kickboxing and come to MMA just for him. Alex understands Izzy is very talented and thinks it’s a waste of talent to sit out till 2027 while in his prime. Alex doesn’t want his rival to go out like that and knows Izzy will train harder to fight him than he probably did for Sean Strickland. Their rivalry alone brings out their best. On the other hand Alex doesn’t want to make 185 again and nearly kill himself for it. He wants to fight Izzy at his natural weight while Izzy is also at his natural weight. Both guys would be at their very best form in a fight at 205. Slightly unfair? Yes because Alex will weigh 225-230 and Izzy will be 202-204 on fight night
Hey CHAEL can you find out where Alecsander Rocket Rakic went ?
Ariel gonna give fighter of the year to himself for fighting against Dana in promoting Francis
Tremendous!
Take it easy on Chael. It must be incredibly frustrating for him to watch American wrestling become less and less relevant in MMA every year.
CHAEL P SONNEN FIGHTER OF THE CENTURY 🎉🎉
3:33 Alex is *36* years old... but I understand what you're saying. He's older than most UFC athletes and he's one of the best!
Tom should play legacy mind games and make a point about giving the next guy an opportunity and a huge ppv would be interem title fight against peirra and a chance 3 weight titles in year and a half
Chael! I got hired. I'm gonna start backing everyone now. Im pretty rad when I'm working towards my goals
Black belt in leg kicks for sure
I really can't understand how until today nobody says to Chael the right way to say PEREIRA

Judging by many of the comments, it looks like your message went right over their heads -Uncle- *_Lord_* Chael
“Alex is a master of nothing” Other than kickboxing yeh 😭😭😭
Chael's never been more right about who should be fighter of the year. I can't wait to see what that guy does next.
could alex be the best striker we have seen in mma?mma fighter of the year him or francis and potang got his brown belt in bjj after the first izzy fight
Only video he puts out that is 100% correct..
Good year for Pereira after getting brutally ko'ed, barely beating Jan then later became lhw champ, but Makhachev defending his belt 2x and becoming the p4p king no question earned him the fighter of the year.
Islam fought twice, both times against a short 145lber... When Islam met Usman in Abu Dhabi, Islam made Usman look small. But Usman was there to fight a big 185lb guy and Islam was fighting a small 145lb guy.
No sense in rushing Bo through before he’s ready, despite the talent. We’ve seen what happens when talented guys get in there with elite competition before they are ready, some of them lose confidence and are unable to ever gain it back
These idiots need to concede that Alex if higher than khabib on goat mma list ad he’s got to be in top 5 best combat athletes of all time
Yes sir I agree
Connor was actually correct when he tweeted something like - a lot of fights that could have went either way, didn’t see much skill tonight (on the night of the fights)
