    • Having confidence doesn't hurt. But tennis is all about MATCH-UP. Wawrinka is the cleanest ball hitter on tour. His forehand and backhand swings are as a simple as they come. At his peak, making no errors, he is basically a baseline sledgehammer. Lock and loaded the moment he sees the ball come. Watch his swings. There is no wrist movement until after he's hit the ball. Guess what happens if you give Wawrinka a ball machine. He eats it up. And a ball-machine is basically who Novak is. Novak is probably the greatest to play tennis because he has the consistency of a machine. His balls land consistently on the baseline pushing everyone back. Doesn't matter for Stan. He feeds off Novak's machine-like consistency and he'll just make up the difference with more power. Novak's crosscourt backhand and forehand are the stuff of nightmares for tennis players. When he changes direction going down the line, he throws almost everyone off. Doesn't matter for Stan. He can out-angle Novak's bread and butter cross court shots, and he doesn't have to run around his backhand like Fed or Rafa. He can just slam the backhand anywhere on the court and win the point. Watch the FO final between Novak and Stan. It's the stuff of dreams for any tennis fan. Now, throw Fed's variation vs Wawrinka and you end up with a 20-3 H2H between the two in Fed's favor.

Defeating Novak for the French and US and Nadal for the AO and Fed for the Monte Carlo masters. Stan honestly has more credibility than all these next gen players who r hyped up put together. So you'll get to watch a bunch of matches instead of just one. Therefore if one player withdraws you won't get refunded as you still get to watch the other matches. So as a spectator you'd much rather take a mid-match retirement over a withdrawal. Next time think before you comment so you won't look like a complete idiot.

They’re saying that they always hope, at hardcourt majors, that Stan is in Novak’s half because then it’s much more likely that Rafa won’t have to face Novak in the Final. And this makes perfect sense for a Nadal fan, as Rafa hasn’t beaten Novak at a major in 5 years, and hasn’t beaten him on harcourt in 6 years. If there is one guy who Rafa should never want to face off of clay, it’s Djokovic. And Stan is the most likely guy to prevent that from happening. There obviously has been 1 exception- 2013. That was the 1 time that Rafa managed to beat a prime Djoko at a Major outside of Roland Garros. For whatever reason, Rafa has never been able to find that form against Novak on hard or grass since then.

His brutal power shots from way behind the baseline just gave real trouble for Djokovic to handle, only player who could hit him through, when he was playing his best tennis. Although Djokovic is much more consistent, can't argue with his numbers, but Waw was absolute joy to watch in these matches. Really strange rivalry with the overall h2h is quite lopsided with a 19-6 score in favour of Djokovic, but if you count only Grand Slam matches it is 4-4 and also after 2013 matches it is 4-4 as well. So after a while (2013-) it became really close.
