  • It is true, not all hero's wear capes! Philipp, you are a hero, hanging out of an upper floor window in the rain, stretching to clear the eaves of leaves, is what true hero's are made of. After all, you could have got Anna to do it and held onto her feet for safety. The tileling looks fabulous. Looking forward to the next episode. Hopefully the rain will have stopped and Ziggy can smile and venture outside again. His expression when Anna asked if he was going to come outside, was priceless! The utter distain of that glance!! 😂

  • Great stuff. Quick note that I saw this in a SciShow episode just yesterday, so just in case you don't know, daffodils will kill many other plants, especially if you put a cut daffodil in a vase of water with other flowers, such as roses. So just keep them to themselves when you cut them!

    @SignalHillHiker@SignalHillHikerАй бұрын
    • Actually goes for all lillies. They develop so much bacteria in the water they need fresh water twice a day to not die prematurely themselves from it. That's why serious florists never combine lillies with the most expensive roses meant to last a long time. Although pretty together short term. Also, lillies want cold water, and roses warm water. But is it true that daffodil bulbs will deterr other flowers from growing in flower beds?? That I've never heard!

      @gnarbeljo8980@gnarbeljo8980Ай бұрын
    • @@gnarbeljo8980 My daffodil bulbs happily coexist with roses, lavenders, tulips, verbena etc (just to name a few ;-) ) So I think it's only the cut flowers that make trouble :-)

  • It's amazing how to prevent jealousy, some geniuses pretend they cannot do something, thereby allowing us mere mortals to feel good about ourselves and think we did it ourselves. This also then creates a better end result on any project if the whole team feel as though they came up with the solutions, when it was really the genius who did. This genius leads the team to achieve the best results by allowing them to believe it was the individual team members ideas and concepts were theirs. Isn't that so Phillip?

  • May I make a little suggestion to help? You need to put screens over the top of those downspouts. Screens with a pretty big grid. To stop the leaves and twigs from plugging up the downspouts, but let the water thru. And clean your gutters every fall once the leaves are down. You need the gutters clean for winter and spring storms. If you have trees with catkins in the spring, and other large seeds, then check the gutters then too. Put it on the monthly house/property cleaning calendar.

  • That’s a herringbone pattern! About the level difference, I’ve seen tresholds (doorsteps) in old buildings with a halfrounded top. You can easily have Benoit manufacture something to that effect. Just ensure that there is flexibility in between the wood and the tiles - silicone or similar - to allow the wood to move and expand as needed.

  • I love it - Well done!! Your style is my favorite (simple, timeless, elegant). I also admire how uncluttered, and un-maximalist your spaces are AND despite the different colors in every room, the palette, for the most part, all works together in a calming way (nothing too jarring or over the top with different themes from room to room as so many others do in their chateaus….less Versailles and more French minimalism (focusing on quality, clean lines and natural materials). I think everything you’re doing is marvelous and I’m SO excited to see each finished project…….so hopefully, as soon as the house is 90% done, Philip can start on the outbuildings that are going to be studios & shops one day - THAT’S what I’ve been waiting for!! Community projects with a give back feel that are also business strategies for an income stream (that one day maybe the girls can take over and run) are my all time, absolute favorite things to watch develop….it makes me so happy!! Best of Luck

  • We were in Morocco last November. Gorgeous tiles everywhere you look! Great choice to select tiles from there. They pride themselves on most things being handcrafted. 🇲🇦💕
