With that ideology you could say Russian soldier are just as tough cause they beat the Germans, but in reality they just sacrificed an unbelievable amount of men to achieve “victory”. most IFVs use ATGM for destroying tanks
@@fuzer4047 ATGM is a rocket. And you need to normally keep sight until impact. Projectiles have other effects. Nearly direct impact. And much more cheaper in use. An ATGM can miss like a projectile. The cost difference is immense. And a war is also an economic issue. Sending a Patriot rocket for every Shahed-Drone and you will lose the war.

Just as UK military decides in the IR it doesn’t need an updated IFV and that a wheeled vehicle without a turret is comparable 😐
Its almost like they want us to lose any battle. Abroad or at home.
Aren’t they getting the Ajax?
@@FrostySire yes it’s an ‘armoured’ fighting vehicle, but it’s not an ‘infantry’ fighting vehicle like Warrior. The Ajax with a turret can’t fit a section of troops in it (even though it’s massive and twice the weight compared with its predecessor the Scimitar!). But the Ajax turret has a great turret with 40mm cannon.
@@cp4512 there is an Ajax ifv vehicle if we do decide to add later. Look up Ascod 42. Think the Czech army are the first to operate it but with a 30mm cannon. Lookz suspiciously like the govt will buy more Boxer though & add a turret like the Oz versions.
@@gregs7562 you’re right there’s an Ascod IFV variant (on which the British vehicles are based) but not in the Ajax family that was developed by GD. It’s taken almost 10 years for GD to develop the Ajax family from the Ascod vehicle, so making an IFV variant would take several more years. It would also be way more expensive that updating Warrior, which the MOD can’t afford to do hence the cancellation of the Warrior upgrade programme. For interest, there are also a few different turreted variants of Boxer, but I’m not sure MOD can afford those either.

The competition was scrapped, then relaunched and the lynx is once again a contender...

I don't think it's ideal but I think it makes sense on a limited budget.
@@cp4512 What is right for others doesn't necessarily mean what is right for us. We aren't a continental army like Germany and we are set further back from the Russian border. You say all peers but France doesn't have tracked IFV, and they are our closed comparison? If we had the resources of the US army sure, we don't.
@@davidhouseman4328 it's also because we're now focusing on our "strike" brigades which need to be quick to deploy and move around, wheeled vehicles are much better at this than tracked ones

The Aussies are buying exactly the same BOXER vehicle wheeled vehicle we are and everyone says 'great piece of kit well done Aussies.
Yeah the reality of it is that most of the modern IFVs are running comparable tech and capabilities, and its really down to the purchasing nation on which end of the spectrum they outfit their vehicles. But there's always bias ... "oh this is from Country-Z so its better than the exact same model country-X and country-Y are running"
Except that the British mod didn't order any of those in the ifv version either. Only apcs and scouts...
@@positroll7870 the UK are buying 500 Boxer units with a base module selection as well. As Boxer is modular any variant can be ordered separately. The thing will only start to go into service in 2023 and as always things will be added and changed as lessons are learned.
@@1chish Can be ordered - if there is money available. Right now it doesnt look like there is any money planned in for that. And once you have negotiated and ordered the turrets, it takes time to build them. You also need to develop new doctrine - because a wheeled IFV needs different tactics from a warrior. Then train the lieutenants in that tactic. And train the soldiers and mechanics on the new gun / turret. All that takes time, and chances are there will be a noticeable gap between getting rid of warrior and adding a battle ready Boxer ifv unit.
looks a nice bit of kit...The British Army must look on with envy at the Bundeswehr, thinking they could have all these nice toys, if only the Royal Navy didn't take all the defence budget money to pay for Aircraft Carriers & Trident subs 😋

The vehicle is good but very costly
Ach was
You barely ever see these with the missiles though. Including none in this video.
Because the missiles are just being introduced now, while the Puma itself is already in service without them for 5+ years.
Missiles are expensive and don't take too well to be shook around too much. Which is why the missile launchers only get added in peace time when the puma is actually planning on firing them. Also, full integration with the other computer systems took a while, but is now achieved. The dismount had the shoulder fired version for quite a while, though. Given that the US still haven't decided upon a Bradley replacement, Germany did reasonably well with the puma. It does have its weak points but overall it's a darn dangerous fighting machine.

everything is a target in war, i dont get where ppl. get the idea from that a tank/armored vehicle has to be invincible to be usefull.... u could also argue that an apache is just another target for an MANPAD, SPAAG and what not, hell the USA lost Apaches to rifle fire in Iraq. so they changed completely their doctrine and dont use AH´s as an offensive weapon anymore. there is still need for armored vehicles, or how else do u cross wide open fields without cover? and btw. even if a vehicle is only protected against small arms and artillery fragements, that is pretty much 90% of the threats u face on the battlefield. real life is not like a PC game where u quickly spawn with an AT weapon, ATGM`s are realitve rare in most infantry squads. and if they would model tanks realisticly in arcadei'sh games like Battlefield etc. u wouldnt have much fun as an food soldier, hands down.
