In this video, we found an old file and decided to make a huge bushcraft knife with a handle made of stabilized birch from it!

    • Posso consigliare di non seguire questo video. Ha sbagliato i tempi e le fasi di stempra e ancora peggio quelle di tempra. Per il manico ti posso consigliare l'olio di lino cotto, come finitura finale. Oppure la cera per legno , l'effetto finale risulta un po' più lucido. Se hai domande per eseguire le fasi di tempra in modo corretto , sono a disposizione.

  • Just a quick tip when stabilizing your wood, after releasing the vacuum, you have to let the wood sit in the resin for at least two times as long as it was under vacuum or there will not be enough resin in the wood to make any difference.

  • This is freaking awesome!!! Love the complex bevels, and the handle came out very nice. One note, don't use the blade to strike your ferro rod, use the 90⁰ of the back edge.

    • @@norhythm100annealing is softening so yo don’t shit all over your drill bits. Hardening is a quench and temper, annealing is putting a hot blade in pear lite so it cools slowly.

    • New files are case hardened usually, meaning that only the teeth are high carbon. The core is mild steel.

  • There was no need to use pivot screws for the disassembled pistol grip. Gluing was unnecessary to connect with screws.

  • Gee, another stock removal vid. Im glad he pointed out what he was doing or I would have been completely lost. You have a forge, use it next time to forge a blade to shape. You will respect yourself in the morning. The world does not need another stock removal vid. That is my story and Im stickin to it. It helps to anneal the metal before shaping. Also tempering a knife is also important. Way to thick, way too heavy imo. Forge On!!!

  • Ragazzo i dischi della moletta al contrario. Guarda il senso di rotazione. Il lavoro di stemperare la lima è giusto ma era il primo passaggio da fare. E non e stata eseguita bene. La fase di tempra ancora peggio. Il barattolo dove hai spento la lama, è troppo piccolo , difatti la lama non è entrata tutta, e l'olio era troppo poco, se l'olio e poco si scalda troppo e la tempra avviene male. Per non parlare che le lame lunghe si spengono in orizzontale , forgiare e costruire varie lame è per me' un lavoro e una passione che porto avanti da oltre 20 anni, le mie critiche spero ti possano aiutare per migliorare e comprendere i passaggi per lavorare i metalli. Altrimenti le lame si possono piegare o spezzare, oppure scheggiare se le fasi di cottura e spegnimento sono errate. Si sprecano attrezzi di lavoro come le punte da trapano e i nastri della smerigliatrice
